Huh? She doesn't understand why her friends are in the game? That's... odd.

I guess she got amnesia from her disappearance?

Also...

I'm... Completely lost right now. This is a lot to take in.

I'm actually loving the presentation and looks like a nice step up from Zero Time Dilemma.

Wow, we're back to creepy again.
And now, we have to endure another 8 weeks lol.

Also... note the 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors billboard in Akihabara at the start of the game...

Yeah, the PS4 footage looks pretty good.

New Gematsu post that covers the same content as the Famitsu article, but it does feature high quality versions of the same images and art in English.

Damn, that was an ending I was not expecting at all. You know this game is going to be amazing if Uchikoshi is allowing those kind of "twists" to be revealed in these marketing materials.

Character design/artwork is amazing (The protagonist Date looks awesome), though not unexpected because it is Yusuke Kozaki after all. I'm glad that the game has a relatively reasonable budget it seems and doesn't look as unfinished as Zero Time Dilemma did

Welp

Things are just getting more confusing.

Games looks like it has a much higher budget than the zero escape games tho, cool.

Interesting thing I noticed is that the Characters' Portraits and their 3D Models on screen both speak (lip movements) at the same time during dialogue scenes

Yeah, I actually think it looks really good (in terms of visuals). The X-Ray gag was hilarious.

Pretty much every anime game that simultaneously shows 3D models and character portraits at the same time does this (Persona, etc).

After thinking this through, i think i really don't like how things are going. Namely the fact that

A. The Box Art
AI_1920x600_r3.jpg

Tesa's right there! on the Right!
She had a whole week prior to uploading the video to consider how odd it is that she's on there, yet in the actual video, she acts like this is the first time she noticed. That's a pretty big failure.

B. "Is this really an issue?"

Barring a quick tweet reaffirming she's okay, Tesa's (and Ota.) taking the news perfectly fine. Including retweeting jokes.
um.PNG

and, on the Japanese side of things. Admitting she's still excited for the game she just died in.

I am also looking forward to it
Compared to their behavior during the fake A-set and original Polar Bear sagas. This is incredibly Out Of Character for them.

C. Really, Uchi?

Apparently, this tweet wasn't meant to be a joke. Which is pretty baffling.

________________________________________________________________________

This might just be me getting a bit too overwhelmed by my personal attachment to A-set, but i feel like Uchi screwed things up with this.

I'm into the ride too much at the moment to sweat the details.

At the moment, my thinking is that this whole thing'll take a weird metafictional turn, since the marketing has been okay with referencing characters from 428, Danganronpa, and then even 999 in the game footage proper. Hopefully it doesn't destroy itself in the process, ala the last Spike Chunsoft game that tried it.

RE: her not noticing herself on the box art... It's a pretty standard device in reality breaking stories to have the characters get very confused and overlook those things at first. The alternative is basically admitting you're a fictional character / your entire life is wrong.

This response is a bit more reasonable, aside from the questionable logic of a game in development years before A-set started posting videos somehow referencing the present.
But the Japanese account seems to be doubling down on everything being fine.

Is there some sort of localization battle going on here? With the western side taking the incident (slightly) more seriously, while the Japanese account doesn't care at all☆? There's been a lot of special content designed specifically for western audiences during this, so them heavily expanding the not particularly good plot twist isn't too shocking.

What do you mean by "not particularly good" plot twist? It adds a neat dimension to the whole thing.

Maybe the Tesa that's been murdered in the game, the one that's been murdered on youtube, the one thats alive and making english content and the one alive making japanese content are all different Tesa's.

Either way, i'm still fairly convinced that AI:TSF isn't just a game, but involving something very meta.

The entire thing feels like a cheap "haunted video game" creepypasta. It matches all of the tropes. Real-life (In the ARG universe) people somehow showing up in the game, the hyper-realistic blood, all that's missing is Tesa tweeting about how the game was completely unlabeled.

They've played with the idea of Tesa getting offed twice already, trying to slightly change things up this time by making the game itself haunted just sounds ridiculous, especially considering most of it is being added by the localization team.
To make matters worse, they now have to stretch this absurd twist across 4 whole months, unless if they're planning to drop the ARG early.
In which case i can only hope they still make A-set videos after the fact, because she's the main thing i'm interested in.

Edit: Also this happened.

I don't even know what to say here, i think his response just speaks for itself. He also posted a cryptic tweet about how it's "not a game" in response to Ota, but that's nowhere near as baffling.

Edit 2: Welp, while it's not an unlabeled disc. Uchi just confirmed another creepypasta cliche.

Surprise! The game predicted the future. Never seen that before.

Things are getting really meta now. Ota and his voice actor are conversing :D
Also seems Ota's voice actor just did a lets play of 999 lol.

I lost it at Air calling home after a year away.

Really wish this wasn't delayed. Even though I have enough to keep me busy until it actually releases this september.

I wonder if those impressions are just vague abstract spoilers for the game.

Alright, so they are going to keep pushing the nonsensical and overdone "Uchi wrote a haunted game that predicted the future!" concept, glad that is out of the way.

In better news that i nearly forgot to post, there's now an Official A~set account on Weibo. (It'll redirect to the login page when you first click it. But it should be possible to access without logging in, it's just incredibly finicky.) Somehow. I could have sworn China was fairly restrictive on what's allowed, but evidently AI is going to be released completely uncensored there.

That website is uh, interesting.
fucking_what.PNG

oh.PNG

He also invented Aiba (and set her personality to his liking).
A required QTE revolving around grabbing porn, and Aiba is canonically Human Genji's waifu! This is absurd.

and Tesa's reaction? Well.....

I guess we're already throwing that creepypasta plotline out the window, eh?

Am I going to have to import this or what?

Is this getting a physical release in Australia? I know it's been rated in Australia, but the game still isn't listed on EB or JB, so I can't pre-order it. : /

I'll be so disappointed if this ends up being a digital only release here in Australia. Anyone know what's up?

I don't know or generally care about anything related to whatever weird meta Twitter shit is going on. Excited to play it on September 17th, though.

Publishers gotta chill, man.

Still probably a day 1 for me, but I can't help thinking how many low-budget anime game tropes it ticks.

I'm really curious how they explain the differences between the arg and the actual trailers of the game. Mostly the scenes in the warehouse. Maybe they're related to the choices you make in the game.

This is wild, i don't even know where to start. But seeing the Ota Skirt art get acknowledged is an incredible achievement in human history.

They most likely aren't. This whole ARG seems like a last minute decision. What with how inconsistent the various regional accounts are and all.
You'd be better off just pretending that it's in a whole separate universe, preferably one that doesn't devolve into a generic creepypasta.

All this is weird, but would expect nothing less from Uchikoshi. lol

Good to see everyone still on board even after ZTD was kinda eh.

Hopefully this is good.

Yeah gotta see it as just them having fun with this. Doubt the game will reference any of the "canon" stuff in the arg itself. The only legit parts are probably when they show gameplay sequences and you can probably expect the lore to match somewhat.

Gematsu ran an interview with Uchikoshi and Kodaka about their future plans at Too Kyo Games. It includes some questions about AI and how Uchikoshi deals with working on AI and Death March Club at the same time.

Have you brought ideas from AI: The Somnium Files to your other projects, or something similar to that?

Uchikoshi:
"Not really. I have two different roles in development. For AI, I came to Too Kyo after the game's story was finished, so I'm currently working as the director. As for the games for Too Kyo, I'm a writer."

Did you find it hard to leave your past franchises behind at Spike Chunsoft? How does it feel to start something new?

Kodaka:
"Hmm… Well I always wanted to do something other than Danganronpa, so I'm really enjoying what I'm doing right now."

Uchikoshi: "I'm still working with the AI team, including team members from Zero Escape, so it doesn't really feel as if I left quite yet."

How much do you think your past titles at Spike Chunsoft influence your current projects?

Kodaka:
"I think one of the reasons I'm able to even make my own company is because Spike Chunsoft let me make Danganronpa, and I'm extremely grateful for that. It also kind of honed in my style of game. So explaining things to staff
I just met is easier if they played my past titles. I love Danganronpa, so yeah it definitely has its influences."

Uchikoshi: "Since the Zero Escape series really caught on overseas, it really opened my eyes to visualize a wider audience for my games. Without that, I think I'd still only be focusing on the domestic market."
