Alert: Windows 10 October update may be deleting files

Threads on Reddit, Microsoft's own support site, and other forums show that some Windows 10 users are upgrading to the October 2018 Update and having their documents, photos, or even entire user profiles wiped out.

This is important enough to be posted separately from the current Windows October Update topic. Maybe should be posted on gaming side too?

all good here, fortunately. No issues after my upgrade other than my Vive being moody. And even that may have been a function of the port I decided to plug it into on my new GPU.

Best of luck to everyone else. As always, BACK YOUR SHIT UP. You never know what might happen when you do major upgrades.

It blue screened on me during one of the restarts. It said it'd auto-restart but an hour later was still frozen, so I force shutdown. Everything came back just fine and the update finished. No major issues, miraculously. Absolutely terrifying though as I'd just put together what is the most expensive PC I've ever built less than two weeks earlier and the last thing I needed was it to get bricked by a Windows update.
