I actually didn't, no.
However, I see a "what will you do on this 4th of July thread" and many people on here seem to have time off.
Maybe people could protest (at the same time) for better protections for workers so maybe in the future they wouldn't have to worry about losing their job over something like this.

The Left is protesting all the time. The problem is that the media isn't covering it and being to the left of the average conservative doesn't make you politically on the left. Just read the replies in these types of threads. How many posters actually go to these protests?

Why wouldn't it be real? For the other 2, the cruelty is a means towards an end. For the Border Patrol agents, the cruelty IS the end. Why wouldn't they be worse?

These kids are going to have a really hard life directly related to this. This shit doesn't go away.
There is a cost to this we all have bear, these kids will all be scarred for life with the lasting effects of PTSD on them and the families held. The next President and all of us need to not only liberate these camps and hold these people responsible, but ensure these families and children are cared for wherever they are.

Lots will not like this but I know for a fact that a great majority of the demographic that is being held at detention centers has better living conditions than the ones they had at their countries of origin (Guatemala, El Salvador, etc)

That there is a legal due process that needs to be respected since any other scenario falls into illegality. I'm glad media is giving coverage to this issue because even if detention centers are not luxurious, any kind of abuse by the guards needs to be punished. Any abusing guard needs to be made an example of

Protesting probably doesn't even matter. This government was elected without the popular vote. It's re-election would likely also not rely on the popular vote. The only thing this administration has is Trump's base, the Republicans have all circled the wagons and thrown their hats in with Trump and Trump's base likes this. So a bunch of liberals protesting, writing their representatives, whatever, it likely means jack shit.
We'd probably have to actually get violent and start killing people if we wanted to get this changed before the election. It's nice to say go protest but when the powers that be never had your support, aren't relying on it currently and has no plans of seeking it in the future why would they listen to you unless you stepped it up beyond mere protests?

There were protests two days ago. Yes, there probably should have been one today (and maybe there is one that I don't know about), but we are protesting.
Protests are for visibility. It's purpose isn't only to make your grievances heard, but to also recruit others to your cause. The Civil Rights movement wasn't just a few marches and sit-ins, but literally thousands of them.
Either way, the idea that the left doesn't protest is flat out wrong.

So when asked, what do these people use as proof? I've been hearing about Qanon for awhile now, never any proof.
Our protests are week and ineffective. I've been to plenty of them. We carry signs, chant a few slogans, and march in a predetermined, permitted route. It's as effective as posting on a message board. Hell, some guy lit himself on fire in front of the White House just recently and it barely moved the needle. Our country is so big there's no way we could have a national strike. We could try to occupy the Mall in D.C. ala Tahrir Square, but there's no will from people to occupy a large public space for more than a few days. We need a leader like MLK or Ghandi for shit to get done. It's not like these border facility locations are secret. There needs to be hundreds of thousands of non-violent protesters marching en masse to these facilities to non-violently shut them down. As soon as someone shows me an organized national protest effort to actually march on these places to shut them down, I'll sign up. Right now, we bitch about everything, show up to some protests, but never actually harness the people power of the opposition to challenge the status quo.
The proof is that we're close minded and don't want to see the facts
Why does every page have this type of comment? I know my university department of anthropology, education department, and even the Catholic club are regularly organizing protests, donations, and such. These things are happening.
