I saw some posters around here a few weeks ago and it's being localized as "Battle Angel: La última guerrera" (Battle Angel: The last warrior.) They couldn't be bothered to leave the word "Alita" anywhere in the name. Ugh.

"Alita" is a localization invention and was never part of the title, or even the main character's name, in the source material.
I know. But it's still the name most people know the series by.

The last trailer was really solid. I got A-List so I will be there
my 2019 holy trinity of endgame, alita, and godzilla is shaping up nicely... (actually my holy quadrinity which also includes broly)
If this is actually good and goes well in the box office, then holy shit.
I really hope it's good. Gunnm was one of the first manga I read and fell in love with as a kid.
Doubtful. She's known as Gally in the territories where the manga was most popular. Alita was always a dumb localized US name.
I so want this to be good, but I must keep my hype levels in check as I've been disappointed far too many times after reading early reactions.
I probably would've enjoyed it regardless but glad it's on track to be an actually good movie maybe

Other than that, it'll be up against some potentially strong holdovers from the week before such as Lego Movie 2 and What Men Want.
The 3d praise is the interesting thing here (obviously it being good is swell too), I wonder how much of Cameron's Avatar 3d camera tech was iterated and improved upon for this. Been some time since I saw anything in 3d, this convinced me to see it in proper imax 3d week 1.
It's the first film in years that was shot in native 3D. Yeah, I'm curious how it improved.
We're already kinda getting it, aren't we? Or at least seeing it come down the barrel. Pokemon, Cowboy Bebop...
Waiting for Fox to pull out the Cameron round table to gush over the tech.

Interesting. The trailers have all been pretty silly imo.
I thought the first two were unimpressive, but the ones after that felt substantial.
The positive buzz is the only thing that might entice me, but glad to hear Rodriguez get any praise in a while.
I said 'potentially'. ;) It's a R-rated raunchy comedy serving as counter-programming to Lego Movie in an otherwise quiet time of the month. Despite how the reviews turn out, audiences may still flock.
