If you think those designs are sexualised by the standards of Japan you don't know anime.

I'm glad I don't, but calling this all ages and noting it is not sexualized when they have young looking prepubescent girls with giant boobs where there are scenes where you can bathe together... I'm glad steam is delaying this trash

is there a reason they need to have those young sexualized girls in a bathtub together?

It's not that rare for people in Japan to bathe together. I also don't really think these girls are sexualized. They're just cute.

What many people in the West don't seem to realize is that Yuri games and manga in particular are often designed, drawn and written by women (many of them LGBT), for an audience largely consisting of other women like them.

This is literally women making games for women, something people here have been calling for for ages. Guess that won't stop people from shitting on them, though, no matter how tame the content.

What most people seem to forget about the genre.

I guess this is a case of cultural differences, as baths in general don't really have a sexual connotation in Japan. It is perfectly fine to have a bath scene on TV shows, even on kids cartoon it also appears where the mc talks about the recent happenings in their lives. Just because it exist in an anime, doesn't mean perverted angle shots will also accompany it.

Prepubescent is a bit much, innit. I looked it up, and the girls on this VN are 16-21. Japan just loves their high school setting.

So they didn't think to have it submitted for review weeks before their release date or is it just hitting more delays than expected?

You bet they did. Valve are just having such a hard time deciding what to do with these games, that they have been constantly going back and forth into what's allowed or not. The publishers just don't know what to do.

Yep. There's entirely women-led magazines like Galette, solely about Yuri content, by and for women. Somehow, gamerguys seem to think that "lesbian content" can only ever be for guys. It's wack.

Now, there's a discussion to be had about stuff like the bath scenes being unneccessary. I wouldn't even disagree. But well, I've looked at the video, and there's foam. Sailor Moon had worse bathing scenes, and that got aired on US TV. It's really not that bad a scene, compared to, say, half a dozen scenes in DMC5 or the other games that cause a stir for being """"""censored""""""(read: adjusted by removing pedo content, which gamers somehow think counts as evil censorship).

I'd prefer older characters, personally, but... I consider myself as pretty hardcore anti-animeshit game, and this looks entirely fine. But eh, I have a She-ra avatar, so my opinion probably doesn't quite count.

I get the feeling some people think that a cute artstyle means it is pandering to otaku, when that isn't always the case. Cute characters is something that everyone loves in Japan, and if anything a more realistic artsyle would be seen as something aimed at a niche audience, and maybe not be rated for all ages.

Yeh, just because it's not the worst example doesn't mean it's not trash. People who support this kind of thing are gross, imo.

While everyone can question how youthful the characters look (always a problem), this company specializes in GL (Girls Love) scenarios, usually 16-18 year old girls falling in love with other girls, and based on a quick scan through their portfolio, almost exclusively in a "work safe" format (due to the audio CD only format). Not really any "eroticism" in it, it's mostly about high school girls working through their feelings in a society that frowns upon same sex relationships, with the CDs typically featuring somewhat notable voice actors playing the girls. Pretty typical for a Drama CD (something japan still seems to love).

This seems like their first attempt at a visual novel format instead of just a pure audio format, and given the scrutiny Steam has been under recently, not shocked they're giving this the side eye.

I can't speak to what the target audience for this stuff is, but the lack of actual "porn" content in it lends me to think this is more for women than men. It's still not great that it sort of fetishizes gayness in a way, but at the same time acts as a means to normalize it.

This entire thread is bait and the OP is banned. Shut it down.
What's bait about it? It is 100% true that this is an all ages visual novel, and the TC creator didn't get ban for this thread, so we shouldn't even bring up into this conversation. Wouldn't even call him a burner account with the huge amount of posts he has accumulated.
Yeah. It's obviously sexualised. Saying "but they're just taking a bath! you're the sick one for thinking it" is ridiculous. We all know better
To you, but to Japanese people it isn't seen as a sexualize scene, unless your telling me the bath scene in "My Neighbor Totoro" or the ones in "Sailor Moon" are also sexualize.
