I like the excursion system more than doing an in house development system or depending on house shows. Sending wrestlers all over the world seems to be the most interesting way to develop a wrestler. AEW has a partnership with AAA and some US indies. They could get one with DDT / TJPW and maybe Stardom. They could also make one with an European / UK indy (EVE comes to mind).
Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I think that the idea is that since all talent won't be featured on TV every week, they can cycle in and out of any indie promotion that they prefer.

Britt Baker has been cleared. She also confirms she's in the Battle Royale at All Out.

Great. Now we know the winner which was the problem with the mens one. I was hoping she got her own match to qualify to keep part of the battle royal interesting. Hopefully we get surprised and they go in another direction.

The system is better suited for their current needs. Wrestlers can still work around, meaning they can pay em less reducing the risk on their end. Other groups will foot the bill in their development. And ends up being free WW advertisement for them. While its prevents wrestlers from just being wasted while waiting around.

WWE has such a stranglehold in the US with no compete clauses, this is the best chance since WCW to break it up

Not only that, it's a win win for all promotions involved because AEW wrestlers will be considered stars and will pull people to the indie shows.

I think that's the most rewarding thing about it: we don't have to be on Monday Night Raw for people to know us.

Interview's a must-read in general, also has Matt straight up telling Rolling Stone he almost quit wrestling entirely because of how TNA treated them in terms of having nothing to do for them, and it changed their mentality of what they wanted to do if they were going to continue in the business

Soooooo....got to say that I feel like AEW is stumbling a whole hell of a lot already with the lead up to All Out, and I think it's due to a lot of unforced errors since day 1.

I think it's clear PAC was crucial in the Adam Page/Jerhico main event storyline and it hasn't recovered since. Page's match against PAC was his best match in AEW and it was a throw away YouTube match no one saw. PAC was key for Page getting over and they botched it because of creative differences and now PAC is injured, so they can't even use him if they wanted. Page's best promo was at a House of Glory Indy show last week no one saw for what is being billed as All Out's singles main event.

Why has there been so much promo time spent on building up the Cody Rhodes/Shawn Spears match on the Road to All Out? It's the least interesting match on the card. Why aren't they pushing the Page/Jerhico match harder?

Then you have the Moxley/Omega match, which I'm excited for, but has been built up like a wet fart. Holy shit, AEW must be pissed about the G1 Climax. Moxley was the hottest thing in wrestling like a hot second ago, but his push is already getting buried after dropping 4 straight matches in New Japan. He hardly feels like the unstoppable force he did like just a month ago. Omega is great, and he's coming off a great match with Cima, but I still can't get over the fact he lost to an out of shape, winded in 5 minutes Jerhico at Double or Nothing that ended with that God awful Judas effect elbow.

He's going to lose to Moxley, obviously, at All Out, otherwise Moxley looks even more like shit coming off of his downward spiral at G1 Climax. But if Omega loses, Omega looks like shit since he lost to out of shape Jerhico and he'll lose to a dude who just lost 4 in a row, being eliminated by Juice f-ing Robinson in New Japan. Again, why isn't this being built up more instead of the Cody/Spears match?

Then you have the Best Friends v. The Dark Order match even though Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy are way, way more over than either of the other two teams. They might even screw up the women's battle royal, since it looks like a forgone conclusion Britt Baker is winning. It feels too much like Page winning the battle royal at Double or Nothing.

I love AEW but I feel like they are already making dumb mistakes and the PAC thing has really taken the wind out of Page's push. I hope they prove me wrong though. Sorry for the rant, but it's frustrating. Lol.

How long is PAC out for? there's a show next month near me where he's supposed to be the star attraction, his face is plastered on posters everywhere around town. I was planning on getting tickets to see him perform :(

Head of TBS/TNT/TruTV bullish on AEW

What will be your network's next sleeper hit?
"All Elite Wrestling (AEW)" is going to be a sleeper. It's very counter-intuitive to launch a new league at the height of the WWE. But I have a lot of reasons why it makes sense where the opportunity is. We're not taking down the WWE but I think this is going to be surprising.

Look at those reactions

What a simple chair shot has done for this mans career is genius

They've done as well as anyone possibly can to give Spears lots of heat going into the match. Now lets see if he can and Cody can pull off a good match and maintain that for TV. If they can Spears will really turn his career around post WWE and fans will rub WWE's face as a prime example of how they misuse people. I'm not sure if that will happen but it will be interesting to see if this works out.

As far as I'm concerned, Omega, the Bucks and Cody are basically invincible when it comes to booking. As long as they come out at the beginning of each show like they've been doing, welcome the crowd, hype them up and go out and have good matches they'll always be fan favorites and remain super over, win or lose.

In storyline, it's also easy to just blame the losses on the fact that the Elite are pre-occupied with getting this promotion off the ground, and not as focused on wrestling/training as much as they should. to me it actually makes sense that they'd drop a bunch of matches as AEW gets off the ground. Like, if Spears drops that match to Cody at All Out, his momentum is gone, and he is indeed just a "good hand". If he wins, he's a threat going forward, and that's what you want from a guy like Spears.

When the time is right, Kenny's chase for the title proper will begin, and I trust they'll book him very strong at that point.

How the hell is the era of ~2.5M viewers and half filled arenas "the height of the WWE"?

I've just been to the RevProWrestling show where PAC vs Matt Sydal was the co-mainevent.
PAC had a bandage around his leg and the match was pretty short (I think the second shortest match on the card).
So it seems that the injury isn't as bad as many thought, but he isn't 100% back.

Hendrix is... okay, which is a big problem for AEW as they have a lot of American women who fall in that category already. I've been hoping that LuFisto gets involved in AEW. I know that she's about to retire, but she should be a surprise Casino Battle Royale entrant and then go on to work backstage and help train the women. She'd be a great hand to have on staff and she absolutely deserves the spotlight.

Could be misremembering something. IIRC, Hendrix claims she was depushed in ROH because she wouldn't sleep with Jay Lethal.

Sounds like a mediocre episode of Ow my balls.

Huh... I don't think reporting sexual herassment is a "scam."

Definitely a misinterpretation. I specifically brought up her boyfriend, Cory Machado, because the scam stuff is from him. She just helped out, from what I heard.

If she's not with him anymore then it means nothing. If she is, I really hope for no further issues. AEW already have Ivelisse showing up.

I'm pretty skeptical someone teasing they're signing or doing something with AEW is actually getting that opportunity.

They generally keep these things quiet until the announcement.
