Whether critically, or commercially, or both.

I am highly skeptical about the Avengers game at the moment. It doesn't look like it has any identity of its own, instead being a cheap straight-to-video copy of the MCU. Even the actors all seem to be cheaper versions of the MCU stars. The comparison I saw repeatedly was "it looks like a porn parody." Now yes, the MCU is the most popular film franchise ever, but we already have proof from stuff like Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite that copying it does not necessarily translate to success. Nothing about the game looked all that interesting when it was shown at E3 either, i.e., there was no unique hook. I'm expecting high 60s/low 70s on MC and for it to be a financial disappointment.

What other 2020 games are likely bombs?

A lot of people are going to be disappointed with Cyberpunk 2077. It's going to be great game tho. Fans of previous CDPR stuff probably won't be disappointed, but I know several people who are thinking this game is just gonna be cyberpunk GTA. It'll still be critically acclaimed I'm sure.

edit: after posting this and my latter post, I just realized that the Avengers game is gonna be a thing. The answer is Avengers.

Fairy Tale RPG is releasing between FFVIIR and Animal Crossing. So yeah, probably that.........I'm still interested in the game.
Trials of Mana and No More Heroes 3 might flop also.

The Avengers game will not live up to the hype in sales or reviews. It probably won't 'bomb' though.

If FFVIIR, Animal Crossing and Cyberpunk all sell only 10 million......Is that considered a flop?

Avengers seems the most likely to underperform (critically and commercially), at least in the AAA space. I'm actually surprised they haven't delayed it yet.

Outside of that, it's difficult to say because I can't imagine anyone has super high expectations for any of the launch games coming later in the year.

So these people just assume that any open world game is a GTA mock up, right? Then I'm afraid they don't know crap about video games, better stick to Sudoku.
Maybe it's just my two friends, then. They only really play GTA Online and CoD, and as hype as they are they'll probably be disappointed when they see the emphasis on character/world building, quests... basically everything that CDPR does great.

Idk. I don't expect it to nearly be as polarizing as Death Stranding, nor will it necessarily bomb. Hope not!

I honestly don't foresee any really high-profile flops.

Bleeding Edge won't do well I don't think. Half-Life: Alyx won't sell anywhere near what a traditional Half-Life sequel would, but Valve knows that. I don't think it's going to move as many Index headsets as they want though, so in that respect, it will be a flop.

You can't define which game is going to bomb if you have 0 clue about development budget, expectations and various metrics.

Can we stop doing this?

Yakuza 7 at least in the west because of turn based battles.

Avengers, too. GaaS loot games don't seem to do well at the moment and that one doesn't even look that great. Seems very late to the party, too.

Anthem relaunch, lol.

Austin
Dreams (doesnt even chart top 15 npd) I think anyone who wanted it already bought it and has also probably moved on.

I think Ghosts of Tsushima wont bomb but I think its going to be 75 to 80 meta which is really good but i gotta feeling people expect low 90s

I think the surprise hits will be Godfall and Bleeding Edge. Last of Us 2 will be the highest rated game of the generation and cyberpunk will game of the year though itll be close with last of us. Zelda wont be released this year.

Hopefully nothing will bomb as hard as this thread.

(let's not create threads where the sole purpose is to discuss the failure of games that haven't even released)
