Are we sure this isn't a placeholder? Didn't the original trailer say "Late 2019" or "Holiday 2019"?

Nope. And it's on a Friday so that's the usual day of the week for Nintendo releases. Also late in the month, another thing Nintendo likes to do.
So Mario Maker 2 in June, Fire Emblem and Marvel Ultimate Alliance in July, Astral Chain in August, Zelda in September, Pokemon Sword and Shield in November and both Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing still accounted for (possibly October/Halloween and December/before Christmas).

September is going to be BUSY. I'll probably still be playing Astral Chain and Oninaki. Plus Iceborne is out at the start of the month which will suck up all of my time.
I'm guessing Luigi's Mansion 3 is October then.
That is sooner than I expected. I know the Gamexplain guys thought August but I was expecting later.
It could also have been November or early December, wedged in between Death Stranding, Star Wars, Pokemon, Doom and Shenmue. Some of these already should rush towards the escape pods.
September is the best month here.
I'm fine with any month as long as it's not November since that month is already stacked. September would be great imo, especially for a smaller release.

I'm surprised that AC didn't get the September slot and Zelda the December slot. That's... worrysome, considering Luigi's Mansion is likely October and Pokemon we know is November. I don't think they'd launch AC in December.

Animal crossing seems to make way more sense for December though surely? Just before Christmas and right after Black Friday.
But then you'd have to start your village in the cold/snow, which they usually build up to. It just seems weird, to me.
I dunno.. Wouldn't winter be the best time to start * .. Plenty of time to be ready for the Spring rush.
