I just realized this must be a prequel, because

Didn't Noomi Rapace's character die in s1? Or am I thinking of some other character?
Different character. She was French and annoyingly incompetent, and more internal security than foreign intelligence.

Actually, did the writers actually state the name of Arnaud's agency last season?

Likewise the press materials are too lazy to actually state Baumann's agency (which would presumably be the BND).

Oh right, right. I watched s1 during sessions of cardio on my exercise bike at home. Must not have been paying enough attention.

So far not liking how this started with Ryan frothing at the mouth to get involved in Venezuela cause he thinks they wanna blow up the US.

The whole Venezuelan angle is just so dumb. And it seems like the writers think their audience is too stupid to realize that the reason why the US government would be interested in a place like Venezuela isn't the (nonexistent) threat they might pose to America but rather the destabilizing potential they have in the region.

Also, no, you morons (the writers). The Russians aren't secretly selling arms to the Venezuelans. They're openly selling arms to the Venezuelans.

So far so good. Ryan is bolder here, all grown up and comfortable in his own skin so to speak. Digging it.

This show is so fucking stupid. The writing is basically Netflix Original quality (the Another Life kind).

Venezuela being run into the ground by a right wing nationalist wannabe autocrat instead of a left wing socialist wannabe autocrat is completely ridiculous, as is Venezuela being treated essentially as a North Korea-level rogue state. The United States apparently does fuckall in response to its ambassadorial convoy being ambushed and a US Senator being assassinated on Venezuelan soil. No carrier battle group show of force or anything.

The high speed low drag commandos being too dumb to waterproof their comms when they know they're going to be jumping into the water was just comical. The entire commando subplot is one sequential clusterfuck of incompetence and idiot plotting.

How does Harry not only survive being shot in the chest but make it halfway across London to shoot Max dead with a magic bullet that somehow exits his forehead in a pretty little circle without hitting Jack despite being fired from directly behind Max? This is yet another example of dumb needless developments with no logic behind them being chosen for drama and not sense. Max doesn't need to know that Jack and Harry are going after his daughter because Jack's going to call him in a few scenes anyways.

Prior to that, how the hell does Max, a newly one eyed man, manage to correctly judge the distance and leap the gap between two neighboring buildings? Nevermind successfully guns and snipe people from long distances? Depth perception is a thing, writers.

It's not great.

Season 1 was better...

Way too much gunfire in this one with way too much plot armor on the "good guys"

Yeah this isn't great(S1 was no masterpiece or anything either)but I tend to enjoy espionage/spy thrillers regardless of quality and it's keeping me engaged enough. I was more excited than I care to admit when Habib Marwan popped up.

Finished ep 4, yep this season went full 24, not a bad thing if they can pull it off, but season 1 was more brain friendly more focused on plot than action.

I don't know if I like this season, but I'm just hoping this builds into a Rainbow Six spin-off with Clarke, Ding Chavez and the gang.

Just binge watched this. Out of all the amazon prime shows, this is the only one that keeps me with Prime. Too bad Netflix didn't offer more money to Tom Clancy's estate but now we're seeing more and more competition to secure TV rights on books from HBO, Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Youtube and soon to be Google.

Half way through episode 5 season 1. For me it's kind of a mix of average and mediocre. Pierce is solid, Krasinsky is whatever. Writing is up and down. Not sure about the depiction of Muslims. It's all very convenient and contrived. Some of the characters seem pointless like Jack's gf or whatever. The two drone operators. Just wack.

Jack Ryan...the most boring western male protagonist name ever, along the lines of John Blade, Thomas Clark, James Kirk, etc...

5ep in, it's really boring and stupid, like I can nitpick the shit out of this stupid story but I won't even bother because it's so easy and not worth the time it takes to type the words. First season was better actually. Can we get expanse already amazon?

That moment, though. The Vogler mercenaries being all "the deal was to capture the prison camp. which we did. now set us free"
iu

I also hate, how they think they 'cleverly' dodge the "white saviours bring back democracy to South America" trope.
No, you see, she would have won the election no matter what. Even before the polls were closed, she was ahead!

Also, Jack Ryan tossing a fucking grenade to kill 4 guards was peak stupid. "DOCTOR OF ECONOMICS!!!"

After half the season: the former KSK now BND Agent is a ridiculous premise in the first place, but they could at least have bothered to cast a halfway German looking actress, or one that speaks a German accent? They were able to do it with Max.

Also, scenes like the one where they drop out of the plane while cool music is playing in the Background are straight up Army / Airforce commercials.

Done. It's really not very sophisticated writing. The minimal "Twists" can be seen from miles away. Underwhelming for such a big production.
It's basically an extra long direct to DVD movie.

Pretty big step down from season 1. But not the worst way to spend an afternoon.

Love how the agent with unlimited resources just uses google for his "mining in Venezuela" question. Lol don't they have more data than that?

Did not have any other place to post this sorry it does not fall under self promotion because its the best way to compare something (if mods feel that is not appropriate then delete the post that is fine)

Just finished season 2.
I gave season 1 an 8.5/10
This one is like a 7/10

Worth watching if you like Bourne, Call of Duty, Clancy, House of Cards etc.

Also, glad they had a bunch of Latinos in it.

This was basically an airport bookstore novel in tv form, and at only 8 episodes, some as short as 42 minutes, definitely worth your time.

Just finished it. That was somewhat disappointing.

The show spends several scenes showing Reyes' VP growing increasingly horrified by the actions of his government, setting up his eventual face turn, possibly even rescuing Greer from the palace in the process? Nope, he gets offed by the evil president to show you how evil the evil president is even though the death camps probably did that already. So the Americans storm the palace instead, which feels like it should cause a major diplomatic incident, but fuck it, no time for diplomacy and politics, it's Call of Duty: The TV Show now.

The whole London subplot felt like classic steaming service episode count padding, slapped down in the middle while the main plot pauses. As did Uber's alone in the jungle arc.

I was still entertained overall, but so far it isn't quite the 24/Homeland (the good seasons)/Bourne replacement I was hoping for.

I liked it way less than season 1. They are trying to turn Jack Ryan into a Borne/Bauer hybrid and that is not what that character is all about.
