Again, are you ACTUALLY having issues in dolphin? Your use case doesn't immediately scream "go out and pay for a whole new system".

Also... they left out an important metric to that test which is the results of a real wii.

61736.png

That puts the 4770 at 450 on that chart, and a real wii (the thing you'd have to match to get full speed in this particular use case) 1050, or more than twice as fast.

I want to see Rebel Strike, Xenoblade, and Last Story on a 3600.

Does upgrading from an i7-4790K to a Ryzen 3000 CPU make sense, specifically if I'm mostly playing with emulators?

I don't really play many games on my PC anymore other than PoE, but I'm always running some random emulator.

Is there any point in going from a 4790K to a 3700x in this scenario?
I remember Haswell providing a significant boost when it comes to emulation for Dolphin and PCSX2, so I can only imagine newer CPUs just improving more beyond that.

In my case, I only had an 3570k and while it does fairly well most of the time with Dolphin, some games like F-Zero can still drop in performance really hard (this might be dependent on settings though). Cemu also runs sub-optimal. Upgrading to a 3700x seems to have solved any framerate issues I've been getting.

If anyone has an Asrock B450 or X470 motherboard, it looks like they just released their 1.0.0.3 bios.

Okay, i changed the CPU voltage to manual and to 1.3 Voltage and disabled PBO and now it stays at 1.296 voltage instead of jumping to 1.5V like before. CPUs seem to all hit 4.370mhz while gamming. Is the CPU safe at this voltage even in idle?

Haven't had time to re-seat my noctua d15 over my 3700x. I only did the small pea sized drop in center and I was wondering if that was enough. Running Cinebench 20, I get a multi core score of 4821, with temps hitting 75c, while single core gets me 492, temps ~60-61c. All stock. Does that sound right?

I just switched back from the Ryzen Balanced power profile to Windows Balanced and set Minimum Processor State to 85%, and Max Proc State to 100%. Idle voltage now hover around 1.2875. All the Ryzen power plans seem to make my CPU idle at >1.4 and increase temps.

Ryzen Balanced keeps the timer resolution at 1ms, while Windows Balanced keeps it at 15.6ms. For some benchmarks, it might make a difference, and some performance sensitive workloads that require accurate timers, otherwise it's overkill.

AGESA 1.0.0.3AB isn't the one with the new fixes is it? It's been available for a couple of weeks for other boards.

The BIOS itself just was posted, but the date is like July 7th or 9th yeah.

There appears to be at least two nVidia driver bugs on some 3xxx configurations. WHEA errors and crashes/BSOD. Whatever the crashes are seem like a race condition. 95% of the time when I load games it crashes, but 5% of the time I load and it runs flawlessly as it should with a 3900x and 1080ti. Both my 1080ti and 980 crash and have worked fine for years in my i7 3770k and continue to work.

I downloaded the AMD drivers for the Ryzen Balanced plan but my FPS went down on games slike Oddyssey and the Superpositon benchmark. I changed to Ultimate performance, put the minimum processor state to 5 (so basically its some sort of balanced power plan) and FPS went up.

You recommend switching PBO on now? I don't know if im being overly cautious but I am hesitant to switch it on with the current state of the CPU's (high volt issue, high temps on idle etc) until we get proper BIOS and AMD fix the problems.
i've not had any issues with it on my 3700X.

definitely is a performance improvement. with it off I got 4814 in Cinebench 20. with it on I got 4937. temps did rise quite a bit but that's to be expected. i would just enable it and if it causes any issues just turn it off.

my cpu voltage is anywhere between 0.9-1.5V in light usage (averages ~1.2V). under heavy load it drops to about 1.2-1.32V. temperatures are 33-50C in light usage but under load they don't really worry me. Cinebench 20 is about 81C. games are much lower.

That's interesting, because Gamers Nexus had a video about how PBO made no improvement on the current chips under normal cooling. They were showing that the normal Precision Boost frequency curve was being constrained by temperatures, so there was not any point in using PBO to increase power limits.

Enabling PBO and/or AutoOC on my system accomplishes nothing except making the chip run hotter and slower.

Cinebench R20 with everything default = ~4935-4950, ~72c.
With PBO on = ~4890-4900, ~75c.

Destiny fix is out, which means I've swicthed the temporary 2600x I bought in for my 3700x and I'm loving it. I'm getting slightly better or equivalent max FPS than my 6700k but the game is running much smoother and the dips are not nearly as low. I'm super satisfied with how it is performing.

That's gonna have to come down to individual machines and fans. The most impact a CPU could have is just causing the fans to ramp up. If you're gettting weird fan noise, then you'll need to check the fans in the machine 1 by 1.

Yeah, my fans rev up quite often after installing the 3700X. Sometimes my fans rev up to max and start screeching for some reason. The weird part is that the screeching goes away every now and then.

The power plans don't work for me, with the exception of Power Saver. But lately I've been noticing some weird occurrences with the Power Saver plan where my CPU temps go from 30-35 to 40-45 degrees. CPU Fans revving up occasionally and all kinds of weird stuff.

Also my Power Plan reverts to High Performance after waking it up from sleep mode.

What motherboard do you have and did you have? I assume you had to update your bios before installing the 3700X.

The rattling at full speed sounds like an issue with the actual fan, or an issue like I have in one of my PCs. When my AIO fans go full speed I get a vibration/rattle on my top fan bracket (Cooler Master H500p w/mesh front) that requires my to tighten the fan down to just the right point. Not too tight but not too loose. Too loose allows for the fan to vibrate, too tight causes the frame to deform slightly and I get a rubbing.

FYI all games continue to crash for me.

Apparent AMD is still scrambling to get destiny 2 to work with beta chipset drivers and nvidia has determined they are not at fault for the GPU driver crashing on ryzen 3xxx.

As others in the thread highlight, a simple Google search shows nothing. AMD is handling this horribly, tons of builders may conclude their motherboard or gpu or PSU is bad. And the "well it works for me" comments don't help. They fucked up bad, wait for chipset fixes.

Tried the beta chipset drivers, no fix. Tried adding Civ6, crashes too.

Swapped out PSU from working PC of 8 years, same crash.

AMD - bitch please.

The only possible thing that could be wrong outside of AMD's software is the motherboard because Prime95 passes and memtest passes overnight.

Have you considered any of your problems to be the paranormal kind? Poltergeist? Babadook? Computer standing on top of the ancient graveyard?

The part about "All" suggests that you are some kind of outlier. Destiny - yes, but nothing else is reported as a major issue.

Well it is narrowed down to the motherboard or AMD software. How to I check if my motherboard is way out of spec?

Fuck it, it has to be the motherboard. Everything else checks - either in another system or through stress tests. Going to get a replacement.

ASUS X570 Prime pro is the dud

Getting Gigabyte x570 Aoros Pro wifi

Looking around for the few reviews there are, there's quite a bit defective Asus boards and fewer Gigabyte. Just so annoying how the bad board was masked by a couple of bios and chipset bugs.

The fact that prime95 passes but somehow that stresses the display should have mpade it ob

Looks like the new chipset update fixed idle temps for me.
Now it hovers around 35-40c during idle.
Voltage still occasionally jumps to 1.3v, but it doesn't scale up to 1.5 like before.
Using Ryzen Balanced plan

Updated to latest chipset drivers. Voltage still stays stuck at high values even after closing background apps (1.47). Temps on Ryzen Master show like 10C lower than other monitoring apps (currently only use Asrock Tuning for now to control fans) so I do now do not know which one is more accurate lol.

EDIT:
So it seems like having Battle.net running in the background causes high idle voltage for me

I've been testing the performance of my Ryzen 5 3600 with my GTX 1080 Ti, I haven't overclocked anything so that I can showcase the stock performance you can come to expect from this configuration. In some tests I have attempted to make the CPU/Memory the bottleneck by reducing the resolution the game renders at.

I've been thinking about making videos showcasing the performance of this CPU with different memory speeds and timings, providing my memory can reach them while running stable, is anyone interested in seeing that kind of stuff?

PC Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
Motherboard: MSI B450M Mortar
Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz CL15
GPU: GTX 1080 Ti (Core – 1911MHz, Memory 5508 MHz, Effective 11016 MHz)
SSD (Operating System): Crucial MX300 275 GB
Motherboard bios: 7B89v18 (From MSI's website)
Chipset Driver: v1.07.26.0551 (Includes Destiny 2 workaround)

If anyone has any suggestions of what games to test please say, I will gladly test them if I have them! Here's some of the games I have!

I show what settings I'm using in my videos to give people a clear look at how this CPU performs in various games with my GTX 1080 Ti.

I'm close of buying a 3700X. Do you guys recommend going for this board?
I want PCI-E 4 to future proof it. I don't care about SLI or very high overclocking.
There is an entire video series about X570 boards on "Actually Hardcore Overclocking" and "GamersNexus" by Bullzoid on Youtube. I would go from there. You also can consult this table: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...IVNyMatydkpFA/htmlview?sle=true#gid=639584818

Guys, I want a mobo around $250~$350 for the 3700X...
What is the best option? B450, X470 or X570?
Asus, Gigabyte or MSI?

My target specs:

Ryzen 7 3700X + Kraken 62
64GB DDR4 3200MHz
RX 5700 XT
WD Black SN750

Thanks <3

If you have no issue with the temps/voltage then yeah there isn't a need to upgrade . I've done some testing on the performance regression though and so far there isn't much difference
