Not gonna lie, i will grab my pop corn and sit quietly while the drama unfold.
I doubt they can do anywhere near as much damage as Epic has recently, much less Sony. The best case for the industry is that Google fails at home gaming and fails fast before they can do a lot of collateral damage.
Give us a LoK collection then a secuel please (BO or SR , don't care)........please.
Crystal Dynamics job listings have already listed both current and next gen consoles as well as PC so no need to worryif Avengers Project is an exclusive im gonna buy this console asap
Well I never will since I don't know what it is
Everyone should definitely get their hopes way up for the announcement of new AAA games, even though GDC has never really been the place for such reveals.
I know, was thinking more of something in the terms of:
I don't want to buy a Google console, but if it gets a new Legacy of Kain, then I have no choice.
The GooglystationWhy do I have the feeling they are gonna call it the "PlayBox"?
Cool stuff, I knew Amy was gonna get scooped up.
How is that a new model?Didn't she say last week that AAA game development was unsustainable? She's probably going to talk about that again. And how we need a new model, a subscription-based streaming service! ;P
Google will give companies up to 200 million dollars to develop exclusive AAAAA gamesssDidn't she say last week that AAA game development was unsustainable? She's probably going to talk about that again. And how we need a new model, a subscription-based streaming service! ;P
You mean they will probably moneyhat 3rd party games and that will hurt the whole industry not one platform?
If they're going to fund games and ip revivals that we were never going to get otherwise, then it would only be amazing.I told it long ago, Google will buy exclusives left and right, games, ip and industry talent.
Console fanboys must be prepared for what will come.
So, Xbox Game Pass then?dunno. smaller projects and a lot of outsourcing? kinda netflix for games.
Yup, anyone who is excited for the entrance of Google is being naive, and it's not fanboyish to think that way. Everyone is just thinking about all the cool games and new hardware without thinking of the implications. Google is from a different "generation" of tech company, even different from the way Microsoft started. They come from the mythos of come into an industry, use your massive resources to straight up break that shit and then pick up the pieces building it around yourself as the defacto market leader.
Edit: To use a buzz phrase from the tech industry, "it's all about disruption"
People still see it wrong. Maybe there wont be a 'console' and the games will all be free. (with microtransactions and ads of course)Why would they make their game exclusive for a console that has zero install base and is an entirely new player within the market. The money would have to be a ludicrous amount otherwise it wouldn't make sense. You don't ignore 140 million users unless you were incentivized handsomely.
