At this point is it still possible they announce a special AC Switch SKU or is it getting kind of late? My girlfriend has been waiting for it because she's an Animal Crossing die-hard and got the special 3DS.

IMO it's still possible and very likely. If I remember right, Nintendo announced the special edition New 3DS XL consoles just under a month ahead of their release when it debuted.

Well, Cyberpunk had MacFarlane and Funko Pop figures get announced right before, too. But I'd guess Nintendo has this.
It won't unless it's extremely behind schedule. There's a reason they moved it to the end of March; they still want it out before the end of the fiscal year.
