Log Horizon didn't offer the same kind of power fantasy as other isekai shows, took a few arcs to really get going and kind of lacked on the production value side.
I do agree but this really was never going to be a series that took the world by storm no matter how superior it was.
yeah i know, winning by being an evil mastermind for good just isn't as exciting as having the big dick DPS sword and wanting to fuck your cousin
Sad thing is how mild this is compared to the current pool of isakai depravity.
Will say that I rather watch Log Horizon than SAO. That and index are pretty much the shows I'm avoid this season since I heavily despise the characters.

SAO is pretty much trash but its never once bored me like LH did multiple times. Normally I like slow burns and shows about building up worlds/politics but LH is just too dull for my tastes. The art having this weird mushy soft effect did not help.

in a similar vein i was disappointed that maou maou yuusha's anime was... uninspired, let's say. The manga was quite good, at least to the point where I read it. But it was mostly politcking.

I mean technically stuff like Escaflowne and Inuyasha are also this genre and are pretty good and wholesome.
Not that version though...Just walk away and watch a true masterpiece instead.
Watch the 90s one and then read the manga.
Man God is speaking the complete truth right here. I'd watch it over Log Horizon any day despite thinking very, very poorly of it myself.
It's a shame too since ironically Log Horizon on paper is literally what I wanted to see instead of what we got with SAO.

A lot of people scoffed when I brought it up in another thread but the story/music in the CGI Berserk is still good enough to keep me entirely enthralled and the brief moments of competent 2D art show that it might have been something truly special.

The 90s had a real love for "transported to a fantasy land" stories, both in movies and tv. I guess anime had to wait until hard fantasy died off for them to do it.
I'm like one of three (now four?!) people alive that enjoyed it in spite of its production issues More time, less ambitious director or better staff that could have better realized his vision would have been great. Once it finished I went back to check out the Lost Children stuff and despite its content really not being suitable for broadcast, not including it might have been the actual worst part of the adaptation since Guts never got the solo time that would let him picking up the rest of his party flow better.

Bunny Girl 1 & 2:
I was initially not really keen on this - given the bunny girl key art, but luckily I didn't skip on this. Sure, at its core it kinda feels like Monogatari-lite 2 episodes in, but there's a crisp pace that is fast-paced, but doesn't feel like it's overly rushed, and there's good banter between the 2 main characters.
It's my surprise of the season so far.

Pokemon Sun and Moon 82-90
That Necrozma part was mad dumb. The way they covered the end of Sun and Moon's original story was actually great, a nice twist on the original.. For this much like Ultra Sun and Moon, there really didn't seem to be much thought on what was going on lol. Just like "yeah Necrozma, give it your energy or something, okay bye." I kind of wanted them to do the whole Mega Ultrapolis stuff to see what they would change but this was odd. A bit sad that Poipole is now gone cause it was such a fun Pokemon to have around.

Man the animation is so charming and really elevates what should be boring moments in the novel. This show is such a great adaption of the cute feels good nature as it was written. I can't wait to see how bloody and serious it takes future battles.

Almost half of episodes with gag and skits were easily hit-and-miss (As always) but nevertheless, I had a great laugh from it. I will continue to finish them all by tomorrow.

I've read the LN so I know what is coming and the adaptation is great so far.
I think his point is that of course people are still gonna say SAO's shit, not everyone has read the LN (Or LNs in general), and it's only been two episodes.
And this is an anime thread, so most people here only have the first two episodes to go off of right now. So yeah, of course people are still saying SAO is crap since we've been burned on two seasons of "it gets better, promise". Fool me once, etc.
