Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu PV is out.

Director: Manabu Okamoto

Character Design: Kazutaka Sugiyama

Producer: EGG FIRM

Animation Production: Studio Bind

Animation is better than expected. The studio seems to be a new one or at least one I never heard of and google research comes up empty.

Source material is pretty good in my opinion (at least the world building is), though the MC is going to be pretty divisive, especially on here.

Isn't he a mega pervert? Still, the light novels are supposed to be good.

Yeah, which isn't anything new by anime standards. However, when you throw in that the story follows the MC through his childhood, the MC is mentally 40+ years old (due to reincarnation), and some of his "potential love interests" are the same age as his physical body, aka 6-12 years old (depending on when he meets them), it comes off as off-putting and just straight up gross at times. Pretty sure the MC isn't supposed to be likable at the start, but even then...

If you can look past all of that, the positives really shine. Of the isekai I've read/watched, easily had the best world building. I'll give the author props for that. A lot of elements are fleshed out pretty well.

Ultimately, I'm looking forward to it, if the PV actually shows how the animation quality will be.

I would read the LN but my backlog is huge. I started reading 'I've been killing slimes for 300 years' recently and the anime got announced today.

I feel like I need to at least let people know that in the web novel, before the MC dies in the real world, he's proud of masturbating to an uncensored loli porn.

From the information I've gathered, this trailer is pre-animated and the actual show will probably not look as good. Still, there seems to be some talented staff behind it.

That Beastars opening is a work of art.

I've read only snippets of the manga, but my minor gripe is that I don't understand how the animal society in that setting is even supposed to function. Predators have instinctual urge to attack and consume prey species. When someone as kind and sweet as Legosi has to battle the inner urge to rip his loved one to bloody shreds, then I have to wonder why they aren't segregated AF to begin with.

they explore the idea very thoroughly and it's kind of the crux of the story.
And as a note I believe the school is a non-common school where herbivores and carnivores both go. Everyone is fully aware of the issues it causes but most want to live in the same society.

Attack on Titan Season 1 (Rewatch) 1-6

This opening still slaps

So I haven't seen anything of Season 3 and at this point I've pretty much forgotten much of Season 1 and 2 so I've been meaning to get around to just rewatching all of it. Because why not? AOT was a pretty enjoyable watch and it's always been better binged.

This anime came out six years ago by the way. Wow time flies. So just rewatching the first few episodes reminds me of why this was taking the anime world by storm at the time. I still got chills with the Colassal Titan and Armored Titan scenes and I've seen those scenes quite a few times over the years (it's also been... interesting watching those two with Season 2 context). They even fake kill Eren like 4 episodes in!

I'm not sure why people live in those places (like Trost and Eren's hometown) that are specifically designed to drawn titans away from the main wall. Is the rent cheaper in those towns? Because it doesn't seem worth it when Titans are so close lol. I mean I guess at this point the Titans haven't attacked in 100 years but I dunno, when the narrator specifically says, "yeah these towns draw the Titans" I'm just like "were these people not informed?"

Thinking about it nowadays though, it's interesting how AOT is kind of in a corner all on its own. I can't think of any AOT clones aside from Kabaneri. Like I think of other big anime like Madoka, and Sword Art Online that would spawn a lot of clones, and I feel like that didn't really happen with AOT.

So CT got an actual remake , huh. Just watched the first half. In line with modern times, it's much faster paced than the original. Still, pretty much the same, but worse. Fane and Ishizaki are lame, WTF. Even Hyuga and Wakabayashi lost their edge. Or was that nostalgia. Fortunately, my boy Misaki is as wholesome as ever. The faster pace actually killed the little intrigue the series had when introducing various mystery people. The ending song (opening song from original) is occasionally sung by different people, probably the seiyuu. The actual singer still does it better, sorry guys.

Beastars Episode 2: Well it happened. This anime adaptation may not pull any punches then.

The CGI and especially facial animation continues to be stunning.

the studio is new, yeah, and apparently has connections to yama no susume which regularly enlists movie-tier animators

portal fantasy is far from something new.
True, I know what John Carter is.

I wouldn't mind isekai so much if they didn't borrow from the same "generic fantasy world based loosely on MMO or Dragon Quest" template like so many do.

It would make them more tolerable if I can't guess everything that is going to happen in the first episode/chapter.

It's not a problem with just Isekai, it's with a lot of genres. They tend to reuse the ideas over and over again, especially with 40-50 shows releasing each season.

Expecting each of them to be unique is just setting yourself up for disappointment. It's best to just sit back and check out the ones that people say are more unique and ignore the rest. And I say this as someone who in general likes the isekai shows overused ideas and all (as long as they aren't harems which honestly removes like 70% of them if not more :P)

I hope that this remake of Legend of the Galactic Heroes actually goes all the way through the series. I've been tempted to start the OG series many times.

Dr. Stone 16

Glad to finally see some background story of the world. The six astronauts strongly resemble the villagers in Ishigami village and 3000+ years is quite the time skip factoring in generations of inbreeding. Honestly haven't read the manga yet but I'm guessing

Reentering the Earth's atmosphere caused time dilation, making the them not as distant of ancestors as we think

Bestars Episode 2:

Wow, I am impressed, this series managed to get worse over the course of the second episode as the social contract here makes even less sense now that I know that the carnivores are eating mostly meatless meals and yes this is a huge problem becasue it means I just can't buy into the central conflict like at all. I may give this thing one more episode before I drop it like a sack of tofu.

"Don't you think it's strange that our 5 year old knows so much stuff?"
"No, I'm much more worried that our 5 year old might be sexually attracted to a grown man"

Dr Stone ep 14?
Every time I think I might drop the show they manage to reel me in again in the last few minutes.

Null and Peta 3

Not checking out the manga was the right decision \o/
Hope for same director and all, of course.

Granbelm - 01

Did give this show a try and it hit all the wrong notes for me.

Even the beginning starts off with a bizarre justification for the MC to head for her school at (late?) night. She forgot one of many bento boxes there... Okay. Well, then cute girls mecha business ensues and if that ain't just the worst, I dunno. There are lots of over-the-top attacks and pretty explosions but I'm not sure I want to praise the animation, really, when the choreography was lacking and the fighting overall just felt like noise to me. Just as all those seemingly ludicrously powerful attacks rarely damaged the mechs, the characters' behavior made little sense. It's clear that, as serious of a situation as they supposedly find themselves in, the main goal is to make the characters cute and appealing. So there is bickering and a bunch of gags.

When our MC learns about the woefully uninteresting backstory the episode had a Fate/Zero moment for me here with the camera rotating.

Now, the exposition wasn't anywhere near as drawn out as on F/Z, of course, but it was tough to get excited for this generic "magic of olde" lore.

Well, had I known this involved a mix of magical girls and mechs I likely wouldn't have checked it out, to begin with.

Always expected(read hoped) a season 2 was in the works, but it's so good to have it finally confirmed. Kaguya s1 chapters are fun (and was improved a good bit by the anime), but s2 chapters are where it really hits its' stride and starts becoming amazing, can't wait!

Beastars 2

Another fantastic episode. Some of the character animation is so good and there is so much creativity in this adaptation. Also I forgot but they really did not explain what the Beastar actually is well at all at the start.
