JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind Vento Aureo 34
As fun of a diversion this whole affair has been to draw the finale into a more oddball scenario than was initially set up, I get the feeling that this marks the kind of material that make people have some amount of people give Golden Wind the cold shoulder. After both Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable, Araki seems to have made too great an effort to consciously try and top his own endings to the previous arcs while also trying to subvert the audiences expectations of how all of this plays out. The end result creates some genuinely cool ideas (the most prominent of these is enhanced in the adaptation thanks to the excellent work by the voice actors), but it also ends up showcasing a number of head-scratching decisions that feel like they were first draft material that was put in without a lot of thought backing them up. It leads to a kind of frustrating experience, because you can see the quality that's there, but it's mixed in with enough questionable content that it drags down the experience. Maybe things will improve once Requiem is dealt with, but I worry that this might be the signs to come of this finale being hampered by its own attempts to outdo its predecessors.
GeGeGe no Kitaro 60
Yikes, this is by far the worst episode of the show in a long time! For a series that has mostly avoided what felt like pointless filler, this is by far the worst case example I can think of Kitaro "phoning it in" in months. No social commentary, a hackneyed life lesson about bravery delivered in a painfully trite fashion, and some of the worst art and direction in the entire series. There's really nothing more to say other than if you haven't watched it, just skip it. You'll miss nothing of value by doing so.
Why the Hell are You Here, Sensei? 11
I don't really know why I'm still watching this series anymore. It's dumb fun, I suppose, and it does all the things I expect out of it. I think I'm just not engaged in this last couple's dynamic, and as such I'm just detached from engaging with it like I have in previous episodes. Oh well, there's only one left; might as well finish it off.
