I love how people defend Made in Abyss even though it has pedo stuff all over it in the manga where as things like Goblin Slayer or Shield Hero are said to be way worse.
No all three are trash with their obvious author fetishes. There is still content for everyone who likes different stuff to enjoy and nobody is trash for enjoying any of these series.
I thought Made in the abyss was a critical darling? It topped almost every best anime of the year list and Dutch anime magazine Aniway uses it constantly as a example of what's good storytelling

I think I understand what you're getting at. The Shield Hero (Naofumi) is pure in that he doesn't have any interest in a romantic relationship with either Raphtalia or Filo. I've heard from other people that Raphtalia's affection for him is unrequited, so I'll go ahead and take your word for it.
But that actually brings up a problem I have with Naofumi so far...dude's a fucking Gary Stu.
He's this noble, brave, intelligent, self-sacrificing, benevolent character with virtually no character flaws (you could argue he's gullible, but even that's kinda weak sauce). None of the bad things that happen to him are his fault, they're all the machinations of the cartoonishly villainous King and Myne, as well as the literal forces of darkness. He's portrayed as "weak" whilst being able to best a person twice his level with absolutely 0 offensive utility because of how crazy overpowered his kit is, as well as his apparently genius level intellect.
I reserve the right to be proven wrong and I'd love to see the character actually get some form of depth...but as of right now he's a few steps removed from being Kirito.
Yeah I don't think desensitiving yourself to bullshit is a good thing. You often see people on anime forum tell other people to watch some easy to get into anime before starting the fucked up ones (and call themselves stuff like experienced anime watchers)... But how about not doing that? There are plenty of good series without needing to scrap the bottom of the barrel and literally brainwashing yourself to find screwed up things acceptable.

I mean I in no way defend the problematic material that the series has (especially manga). Just that aside from that it's very well made series with strong world building, storyline etc and that is why it's shame it has that disgusting pedo stuff in it. Shield Hero and Goblin Slayer are completely average shows even if they didn't have problematic material.
Audience will lust after character creators may even design to be awful or not to be liked/lusted after. Not worth thinking about tbh.Sidenote: I'm not sure I like the "audience will thirst after these characters" argument. The audience thirsts after every character. No one should be sexualizing the MHA kids but that shit keep happening, annoyingly. :/
Believe that was Miu from Danganronpa V3. I'm guessing he thought people wouldn't like her because of how perverted she was but it ended up being one of the main reasons why so many people liked her.Audience will lust after character creators may even design to be awful or not to be liked/lusted after. Reminds me of danganronpa and how the guy behind it was disappointed or something that the audience liked a character he designed to be hated.
There's a difference between a character that is meant to make the audience lust after them and a normal character.Sidenote: I'm not sure I like the "audience will thirst after these characters" argument. Whether its sequels will do that who knows but the 13 eps we have now I think are reasonably content safe.
English is not my first language but I thought in English most humans had four fingers and a thumb in each hand so Mista would have THREE fingers. :PGioGio 18
This fights good until you realize Mista was able to function with FOUR fingers.

Team Ichika.
I've heard heresay that some pirate sites in Latin America got taken down and that might be the cause of the DDOS attacks.
I'm from the future, so Team Nino actually. She won me over.

man, they really didn't care for Babyface huh? I'm pretty sure I remember a part where Babyface turned into Giorno's shadow or something.
also there was some blatantly unfinished sequences at the end there so oh boy production please hold out
Right? She was the first to really connect with him and his family.I moved on to VRV ages ago. It has the superior package if you live in the States at least.

I feel it's obvious that Itsuki wins though.

In Catalan we have five fingers per hand so I suspect the same is true in Italian. I have no idea about how it is in Japanese.
There's a HUGE difference between a character that people incidentally thirst after, and someone who was intentionally designed to be someone the audience thirsts after. The latter is what we're concerned with here. And, y'know, it's pretty blatantly obvious when it occurs. I don't think there's even the slightest bit of ambiguity with these examples in particular (referring to Shield Hero's and Goblin Slayer's respective female casts).Sidenote: I'm not sure I like the "audience will thirst after these characters" argument. Pretty sure thats the most talked show everytime it air. This is all your guys faults for spending so much time discussing degenerate filth like Shield Hero and not sticking to wholesome fare like Kaguya-sama.
See you next season for the next anime that will be the "worst thing that happens this community".
It feels like there's an anime every other season that does this. Goblin Slayer, Made in Abyss, etc.
An unfortunate part of anime - and otaku culture as a whole - is the appeals to fringe fetishes and alienating subject matter.I love how people defend Made in Abyss even though it has pedo stuff all over it in the manga where as things like Goblin Slayer or Shield Hero are said to be way worse.

I'd rather not have the pedo trash in MiA, but at least it's mostly used in the context of awkward comedy moments.
