I thought about picking up Anno 1404 until I can get Anno 1800 but I've read that it doesn't work well on Windows 10? Anyone here play that game on a newer PC have any experience with it?
I had that too. Crashed twice within a space of 20 minutes with some DX crash report. Had about 1000 artisans. A reboot seemed to fix it though.
Zero issues with 1404 or the Venice expansion whatsoever on any OS personally.I thought about picking up Anno 1404 until I can get Anno 1800 but I've read that it doesn't work well on Windows 10? Anyone here play that game on a newer PC have any experience with it?

I have the GOG version of anno 1404 and can play it on windows 10.
There's a button below the mini-map that opens a pop-up menu which lets you go to the new or old world directly. Still two clicks but better than going through the world map at least. Is there any way to quickly shift between cities on the old world and new world maps? Assigning a function key to a map location only works on the local map.
It sucks to have to go to the world map every time. I noticed if you have a mission on a different map you can click on entry in the mini mission log thing and it brings you to the other map instantly. Unfortunately you still need to go to the world map to get back to the original map.
You can? I haven't found a way to remove the AI. Seems like custom sandbox still requires three AI players no matter what. I've set them to the 1 star ones for chill games but would prefer no competition. Maybe I've missed an option somewhere. You can turn off the pirates though.
Nope. It's all uPlay.

God damn it. Thanks!Yes you can. Right click on the AI and they'll disappear. Only thing you can't remove are the two pirate factions.

I thought you could deactivate the pirate factions in the "Faction Customisation" tab. You can change their difficult to "Off" but I assume that removes them completely.
This game needs a detailed economic ledger system badly to tell much how much is being produced and how much is going out and that also shows your imports and exports. The warehouse storage menu only tells me if my stocks of certain items are increasing. It's hard to tell at a glance how many resources you can sell off without screwing yourself. Also, about the artisan question the houses did fill up after I got people fully satisfied with their luxury needs. Unfortunately now I'm reliant on importing stuff because I can't make canned food locally. The game gets harder and harder as my staffing demands increase and my heavy industry on tutorial campaign island is polluting the place so less people want to migrate to my town. I am really enjoying the challenge, though. Lots of things to manage and build. I like making realistic looking cities so I have a sort of slum district where all the farmers live, a working class district with better housing, and there is a new middle/upper class emerging.
I keep building farmers houses and upgrading them for Workers but I keep having a lack of workforce for both.
What Steam issues?
What Steam issues?
Just asking because I bought the game on Steam but haven't gotten around to play it yet.
So why does Steam version play like shit?
Maybe it's not best idea to request status for every friend every frame.
Tetris anyone?
JesusIts constantly sending/requesting info so if you have a lot of friends on Steam it will slow it right down.
Summed up...

Very useful.
Also, is there seriously no way to limit how many goods a ship on a trade route will take from.your port?
Ubisoft is apparently going to release free DLC which includes more detailed statistics tracking. Not sure why it wasn't a priority for day one but it's better than nothing. This game needs a detailed economic ledger system badly to tell much how much is being produced and how much is going out and that also shows your imports and exports.
Statistics Building
One request we have seen from many of the more experienced Anno players that love to go all in on the min-maxing is to have more information about their production chains and their output available. To provide you this information, we will be introducing a new statistics building in the future.
Maintenance costs are killing me. Have barely made it to artisans and I'm not really sure what else I can do at the moment. Is there a vital strategy for the campaign I'm not aware of? Should I be aggressively expanding into these undiscovered islands on the map? Trade routes so far with these folks haven't been enough to keep me out of the red.
Thanks. Wasn't seeing the direct correlation between the goods and income. Big help.Make sure you are supplying the happiness requirements for your people as well as their basic needs - that adds a lot of extra revenue. Also, make sure you have a lot more people than you need right now - you'll always need more later on, thanks to the pyramid structure of the tiers, and the more people you have the more money you earn.
Also, if you really need cash just craft frigates and sell them to the AI (the queens representative). At 21k every 6 minutes it's a fair amount.

They don't die but they leave if goods are missing.Do your people die? After a while my numbers of people start to fall or at least change, but no indication why.
Maybe soon, the "development" branch was updated yesterday https://steamdb.info/app/916440/depots/Seriously. WHEN IS THE PATCH FOR STEAM DROPPING. Its unplayable for me and my friends.

Click on some houses and check they fundamental needs and luxury needs, also you can over the mouse on one of the bars, it will tell you how many people and coins you get for each good/need.
For an overview of the needs, click on the city market.
