Did my first 10 summon yesterday. Got Mighty and Suzetta as their 4* version. Suzetta is already best girl so the pull was good. <3

I spent a lot of time right after finishing chapter 10 doing character quests for all the 4* ones I got from my two free x10 pulls, and going back to old areas to kill Horrors and get materials to make one weapon of each type.
I have ~350 crystals right now, and I bet it will take me a long time before I can pull a third time for free.

My first 10 pull took a while, maybe until chapter 7 or 8. Then I did a second one in chapter 12.

The game is pretty bad. Writing wise it's Golden Sun Dark Dawn tier with long boring dialogue sequences that add nothing to the game. It's also ugly as sin as it looks like that not so good looking Kingdom Hearts cell phone game. I'm in Chapter 10 now and battles are starting to get annoying and longer. Bad monetization too, they are really banking on whales for this. 30$ for the paid pull. Other games like Gran Blue let you pick the SSR you want for this much.

A knight named Cyrus who is cursed to be in frogperson form joins your party and talks about his lost disciple before sending you on a quest to unlock your magic sword and enter the Tower of Time to stop the king who is under the influence of an evil Oracle from messing with the space-time continuum.

That sounds more interesting than it actually is, as most of the game (through chapter 10, at least) compromises interminable fetch quests and grinding though shallow battles with identical enemies in identical corridors using characters that are flatter than what you'd find in NES RPGs.

My advice is just to play Chrono Trigger or Cross again.

I'm out.

Yup endless fetch quest fighting the same 3-4 monsters on every new map.

I pulled 10 characters with the free currency twice now and I don't have a great team. I have the worst 5 star (Lokido) and a couple of okay 4 stars. I can beat the story anyway... or so I thought. I ate floor on a boss I thought you're supposed to lose to because they regularly spam a 1k damage AoE skill and got a game over. I was using my "Party 1" team though which is definitely not as good as my "Party 2". Now I'm kinda meandering around and killing old elite monsters, collecting the treasures hiding behind them, and doing Hard Mode Dungeons to upgrade equipment sets.

Chapter 10 and onwards really feels designed to make you pull paid for the guaranteed 5 star character. I'm at a part where the trash mobs are roughly level 28-30. Every single monster is a beast: super tanky, good healers, spam status effects, hit pretty hard and can easily put my level 40 characters in jeopardy. Subbing out characters for valor and regen has frequently led to fun character death animations.

I'm kind of digging the story and the characters, but there's so much grinding between sections (especially if you're a completionist) that I can easily see it becoming confusing and disjointed feeling for many people.

Does anyone know when or if we're getting a new character banner? I have about 1300 of the free crystals built up now, but I don't want to pull if there are new characters right around the corner.

This game is coming out for Nintendo Switch. Should I avoid it for now and wait to have the full version with out all this star system? Since you will just pay for the game and won't ever have to spend additional money. I want to support them by buying the game. But not this casino style that gives you randomized star characters.

Why do you think it won't use the gacha mechanics? The whole game is basically grinding and doing fetch quest to get currency to do the gacha pull. The Switch version will probably be F2P too. It's not the first time F2P are on console and basically you get free in game currency and items by purchasing the retail version if there is one (see Fortnite for example).

Aside from the second quote, do we even know if the Switch version is planned for an international release?

I think chapter 10+ they designed the game around you doing the hard modes in conjunction with the main story more than requiring any 5* units. If you look at the level requirements for them, they kind of fit in between the level jumps between the main story.

All my characters' levels are in the late 20s and my 3* story characters (Aldo, Cyrus, Riica) are all maxed out on the skill board. It looks like you need to do the grindy dungeons 30 times to get the materials to upgrade them so should I swap them out for 4* characters if possible? Or is it viable to continue with the 3* story characters?

Always use higher rarity if you got them.
If you're lacking a healer though, you can keep Riica throughout the entire story.

Use those experience scrolls (from quest or dungeons) on your level 1 characters to catch up.
HARD mode dungeons (using tickets) are the best way to level up in this game.

I'm about to start and I really, really want Mariel since that's my wife's name, but the thought of rerolling is scaring me. I normally never reroll in games, but I gotta have it. Sigh...

I think I'm done with this. I got to the boss of Chapter 12 and I guess I need to grind my characters up more? I basically have 1 character heal every turn and the others attack but they quickly run out of mana and once you get him down to 50% he starts using strong attacks which I can't heal enough. 2 of my characters are level 28 and 2 are level 25. I guess I could grind up my 2 back up guys and keep switching people in and out but I used most of my exp scrolls already. This game took a while but eventually it does become a grind like every other gacha. It was fun while it lasted.

This is almost exactly what I got except my archer chick was a 4* lol. Still no healer besides Riica but I will deal for now. Mighty and Toova seem strong and beast guy might be low tier but he looks cool at least.

Game is solid but not spectacular, the story gets decently good but is a slow burn to that point and there's fetch quests everywhere with sometimes very boring dialogue (some are quite good tho). Also a few pretty big difficulty spikes. Loving the music the most (shocking I know), but since it really does play like a single player game I don't feel too bothered to rush or play when I don't want to which is nice.

I can't believe it took this long for a gatcha
game to feel like a proper jrpg. I really hope to see more gacha games like this in the future.

This is like a game I was hoping would be made. A lot of fun to play. Got to chapter 5 last night and don't want to stop.

Really liking this. The movement is great and the game is beautiful.

Is there a point in doing 10 pulls vs 1 pulls? The odds look the same according to the game documentation.

Like I said in a post above, right after ch. 10 I started killing low-level Horrors, visiting Hard dungeons, and getting materials to buy one of each weapon and fill in the Catalog (to get achievements/crystals). Because of that I have all my party at level 31 and I have not visited the new areas in the Present time yet.

With all that, I guess a suggestion to you would be to find another goals to achieve in the game beyond finishing the campaign; that way you'll be doing things without feeling like it's a grind, and won't find yourself underleveled.

I bought into the 5* guarantee gacha and pulled Toova (I think?) the Tharja lookin ass necromancer. Not my first choice but a 5* is a 5*. Nabbed some sweet looking 3*s that can turn into 4*s and some cool native 4s.

Not very far into the story at all yet, but rigged LDPlayer to use my controller to some success. It's almost like playing an SNES game at this point lol.

I got Toova too in my 5* pull and I was initially meh on her aesthetic but she's actually pretty chill in her quests and she is incredibly strong. I have a good thing going bouncing her and another Mage between the front and back lines to let them each regen mana.

Just got Toova too, glad to finally have another 5*. Those rates are abysmal.

On to chapter 17. I feared the ch 16's boss would lead to another round of grind in the hard dungeons after the previous one but it ended up being extremely easy. I won't complain.
Some of those chapters are really, really short; chapter 15 was just riding an elevator, lol.

So after two days of straight playing I finally had enough to do a 10 pull. Sweat dripped as I pushed the button, and...

It's part of the story.
If you don't mind spoilers:
Later you get a time ship, and then all eras are unlocked on the map since "faster time travel"

The music in this game is god-tier (at least for a F2P mobile game).

It's pretty repetitive but I have to sit on the subway for an hour every day anyway, so my standards are pretty low. I'm enjoying it.

Thanks. One more question, in the
'present' castle there's a bookcase that mentions a door between the king and the blue flowers. I went all over the castle clicking anything that matches, and even looked in the 'past' palace.. is this also something I can't do anything about yet?

So this is a good game and everything, beautiful art and music and the story is actually quite good but idk the game doesn't really pull at me to stop playing other games.

Just so no one goes into this with the wrong expectations: Mitsuda only composed the opening and a few late-game/endgame tracks.

And it looks like he doesn't do anything new at all in the future content.

Even if Mitsuda didn't do the majority of the soundtrack (which has been his practice for much of his work since founding Procyon Studio - he seems to like being a music producer as much or more than being a composer), the soundtrack by Mitsuda's Procyon colleagues Shunsuke Tsuchiya and Mariam Abounnasr is very good. Some great instrumentation.

Maybe i'm missing something really obvious, but how do you change your weapon? there's only armor and badge in the equipment screen.
