I thought that it was proven awhile ago back on the "other" site that a space opens up when a direct is coming.

Yup, Zelda DLC and maybe one more tease at TGA.

Everything else will be saved for the January Direct.

If Nintendo was going to announce a retail game for Jan, Feb, or Mar, it would probably be Yoshi or Kirby, and they would announce it at least 2 months in advance. Those are the only retail games I could see coming out before the end of the fiscal year. I'm guessing the rest of the fiscal year will be DLC, eShop, and 3rd party stuff, though. If they do a Direct before January, it would probably be about that kind of stuff.
