I'm going to wait on the patch next week before declaring the roadmap a lie and the game dead, at least until Cataclysms arrive and massively disappoint.

I bet the patch will arrive on april 30th. Last day of the month. There will be a big maintenance on next tuesday but its the same day as the stream so i dont think we'll get a patch

Do we expect them to be evasive in the stream? They wouldn't necessarily go out of their way to be deceitful would they?

Possibly, though the four hour maintenance window is pretty suggestive that the patch was/is planned for the 23rd.

I guess it depends on whether the fibre line being cut was true or not, so the patch could be unaffected. Low sodium Anthem Reddit supposedly found proof it was for real but eh who knows. Regular Anthem Reddit said the opposite, but that is an unreadable dumpster fire of negativity and paranoia while LSA is too forgiving and happy clappy so I'm taking both their versions with a big pinch of salt.

Since I believe they straight up lied about the internet issues, I think they will do a stream later saying the roadmap is delayed so they can reassess the whole situation. Then the game will quietly shut down in four months after some bug fixes and QOL patches.

They are following the same pattern they did with Andromeda.
I think there was a confirmation about a big problem of their provider no ? Can't find the reddit post, but I saw something like that.

Not that it changes my perception : game is dead, they're just doing the minimum to fullfill the "game as service" contract as avertised.

I may be wrong.

I just saw a reddit post about people calling the building BW was in and nobody else who used the same provider as them had issues. But in all honesty, I think its pretty safe to bet they didnt really have anything ready to show.

Yeah, I read the same thing last week. Tbh though, would BW really lie simply because they had nothing to show?

Sounds like paranoid AtG Reddit nonsense to me. Guess if patch comes in Tuesday that's proof enough it's bullshit, if it comes on the 30th... Eh.

Grabbed the game from a fellow Era user for 20 bones. I don't have high hopes for it but I just got an XB1X and wanted to check out how Anthem looks.

Any super important tips? Or is the game pretty much the same as launch?

Prettt much. Go leveling until you reach max lvl cap, then do legendary contracts in hopes of increasing your gear score. Just there isnt anything to do after that.

Andromeda post launch support was canceled because anthem was a fucking dumpster fire in early 2017 and they needed all hands on deck. The sales pattern for single player dlc is well documented and sad enough that it probably didn't make financial sense to continue.

Anthem is a different beast. It's a pure GaaS model unlike Andromeda with its segmented multi (like Inquisition) that's hard to get people attached enough to spend cosmetics/money on. There are solid enough fundementals that exist in anthem for them to relaunch the game next year into something I can see them willing to support long term. Maybe under a new name.

Expecting or hoping for a FF14 ARR reboot is ridiculous. That's a sub game where the revenue potential would support taking 3 years to relaunch and anthem/EA/bioware don't have anywhere near the brand power of mainline FF to make sure fans give them another shot, hence the new name maybe F2P. Also, SE enacted a huge leadership change, and nothing points to Bioware making any serious changes. Many of the people that guided the studio into crunch addled rough waters from mass effect 3 and on are still there.

Pretty much. I honestly dont believe anything will change under the current leadership. I fully expect Anthem support to die down and their next game suffering from similar issues.

I mean, Mark darrah said that Andromedas problem was that it launched in a year with too much rpgs so it wasnt give a fair chance. They cant see the problem.

I would love for this game to pull off a Destiny 1 or NMS, but as for right now, basically all my friends have stopped. Everyone is saying the old "We should all play again in 6 months!" line, but we've failed to do that before, heh.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Anthem needed a minimum of another 6 months work before release, probably more like another 12. Anyone hoping that the game would be fixed within a couple of months was inevitably going to be disappointed. Unlike a lot of the people here or on reddit, I don't think Bioware are lying or being evasive or deliberately withholding content for mtx reasons or any of the other paranoid theories I've seen flying around. I just think they know it's going to be a long hard slog getting the game where it should have been at launch and there's little point engaging with a hysterical and enraged community. There's so much work to be done they can't make promises they know they're not going to keep without inflaming the situation further, and talking just to say "we're working on it, have patience" doesn't do jack shit either when key features are still 3-6 months down the line.

Best case scenario is this next patch actually keeping to their roadmap goals and cataclysms turning out reasonably interesting, and they slowly begin to regain the trust they've lost and pull off a NMS or Division 1 with enough content drops to have a much more stable and complete game. I reckon next patch will be ok, not stellar, but I have strong doubts cataclysms are going to be much more than glorified freeplay events so any goodwill they generate from the new stronghold and other features will last about 3 weeks before the next meltdown.

I'm going to keep playing because it's more stable for me than a lot of people in this thread and I love the combat loop, at least until I get an all-legendary version of my favourite ranger build. But in all honesty, for most people I'd say check back in six months. Just too much work to be done for it to be fixed in the near future.

Patch dropping tomorrow - before the livestream. Looks like maybe the fibre line was cut after all, I doubt they'd have released the patch if they didn't have a stable enough build for the stream just before the holiday weekend.

i checked today, the game is number FORTY EIGHT on the XBL top played games.

More people are playing gears of war 4 and halo 5.

Really hoping the colassal drop doesnt hurt their chances to improve the game, but i doubt.

Saddest part is we are in the OT and there was like one post about the game proper in five days. Maybe tomorrow is already too late.
I still pop in to check up on the status, but there's no possible way Bioware can implement any useful improvements any time soon

They'll need at least a year, like Hello Games

Eh it's possible they could just be adding more detail to May. Currently the May roadmap is basically only cataclysms. I don't count free play events because they're barely noticeable filler trash.

Well, after a few hours with the game over the weekend, I will say that Bioware at least developed a fun gameplay loop underneath the shallow mission structure. It is very much Andromeda-based gameplay just cranked up a few notches to deliver a visual and aural experience. Playing as Storm is pretty great and is essentially the elemental equivalent to a biotic character in the ME universe. The world is gorgeous and some of the creature design is pretty fantastic.

But, I can already see how the game is letdown by monotony and repetitive mission design. Everything is a contract and every contract is go here, kill this, go there kill and collect that, go here and take down a couple of elite targets, ad nauseam. I agree with Zastava that the game needed far more time in the oven. Bioware is a far more competent developer than the game suggests, but there are so many self-inflicted injuries caused by their own indecisiveness and lack of direction. And that sucks. Because Anthem could be something really special; there are touches of brilliance, both in the gameplay and character interactions. Characters like Owen, Maluk, and Matthias are all well-acted but the overall story is "meh" and it was shameful that the player is given no control throughout the opening cinematic because Bioware had a bonkers opening that would have been really engaging to play.

I plan on sticking around though. I'll reach whatever endgame there is so that I can stay up-to-par as Bioware releases content, changes, etc. I hope they redeem themselves somehow.

Some really good stuff there. I've been working away for nearly 3 weeks and have been itching to give the game more time, so all these improvements are a massive bonus. Not seen anything of the new stronghold so will be fun to go in blind.

When is the stream?

Some major quality of life improvements in there with the access to forge in missions, ability to launch new missions from expedition end screen and player projectiles no longer being blocked by squad members.

Also a whole bunch of welcome bug fixes and buffs like the storm shield bug being fixed and some weapons getting major buffs.

But like some people predicted, the only actual roadmap milestone is the new stronghold. There's no guilds, mastery system, leaderboards or legendary missions part 2.

So Forge access at any point, but by the looks of it, you won't have access to loot you've just gained.

I really hope that this isn't a 180 out of desperation...

The stream is at 1 PM PST/4 PM EST

I think the patch is a great step in the right direction for the game, although you'd never know it if you visit the subreddit for Anthem. I don't mean to start any kind of forum wars but that place has to be one of the most toxic gaming communities I have ever seen. I've never encountered a subreddit for any game so universally negative at all times.

Anyway, kudos to Bioware for implementing real improvements and staying the course. It will take time but there is a game worth saving in here somewhere. We just passed 9 weeks since launch, and it is already a markedly different experience from those poor souls who had it during the early access period.

Seems for the whole month of April the only new thing will be the new Stronghold. Rest are only bugfixes and QOL improvements.

I think this will be it for a lot of people. Since everything gives you the same loot, the new Stronghold will be a novelty for the first two times you run it, and then people will revert to whatever activity is faster to gain loot and never bother with it again.

the boss is an upsized Fury.

And there are brute enemies but now they have flame effects lol

Exactly like I predicted, people are already saying theres no point in running the new SH since its longer than Heart of Rage and offers less rewards for the time spent.

Unless the stream reveals some amazing content and system changes game is already dead.

Did they change the weapon/component values? My Colossus is at 732 now and was MW, now it's showing up as Legendary.
