Fully agree with you MrKlaw, the only thing I would miss on the iPhone 11 is an OLED screen. Welp, maybe next year the base model will get one.
honestly I don't know I'll even miss that. for a phone I dip in and out of I'll probably barely notice. I will miss the tele lens. I have almost no use for an ultrawide so a combo tele/wide would be a perfect set up for me. But potentially Apple knew that and so they've deliberately left the 'portrait' lens just on the pros.

Wait, night mode is exclusive to the iPhone 11's??? How is that not a simple software update. Didn't google add it to all pixels ever made last year?
does the photos app have any way to manually tag a person or are you just stuck with whatever the app picks out for you?
It's possibly accelerated by the A13 and would be too slow on older phones?
You can change the person who they thought it was, but you can't manually tag a face that it didn't detect. Very annoying since I actually face tag my pets but I HAVE to do that on a Mac, not even an option on iOS
So guys, you recommend I'll get the iPhone 11, yep? My last one was the 7, currently using a Chinese budget flagship from the end of 2017 (Xiaomi Mi Mix 2). I feel like the new iPhone would be a substantial upgrade for me.
Apple have history of keeping software stuff exclusive to the new phones as a selling point.Wait, night mode is exclusive to the iPhone 11's??? How is that not a simple software update. Didn't google add it to all pixels ever made last year?
Hey, the new iOS 13 high key mono portrait lightning effect is locked to Xr and newer (it's not even available on iPad Pro 2018), did you really expect you didn't have to buy a new iPhone for night mode?Wait, night mode is exclusive to the iPhone 11's??? I would do that, but I don't want some random-ass cat, I want my cat. Also sometimes the algorithm doesn't detect that there's a cat in the photo I want, yadda-yadda. It's easier for me to just tag pets like they're any other member of my family. Which they are.
40 bucks for the official iPhone 11 plain clear case. Well, fuck me senseless, Apple is still ridiculous when it comes to pricing accessories.
Again, the situation that there's two tiers of phones released in any given year is rather new. So there's not that much precedence of how they'd handle "last year's premium model" vs "this year's base model"Hey, the new iOS 13 high key mono portrait lightning effect is locked to Xr and newer (it's not even available on iPad Pro 2018), did you really expect you didn't have to buy a new iPhone for night mode?
I think we have seen this with the iPhone 7 and 8/X for the first time, where they artificially locked portrait lightning to the 8/X. As uncovered by Troughton-Smith, it was just a portion of meta data in the photo – you could effectively modify that of a portrait shot taken on a 7 and enable portrait lightning on it. Actually I should probably look into this for the kicks once iOS 13 is released and I update my moms Xr. I'm convinced it's the exact same situation.Again, the situation that there's two tiers of phones released in any given year is rather new. Up until the release of the iPhone XR, there was no "base model" that was getting features which "last year's premium model" wasn't getting. Because the iPhone X was Apple's first "premium model"
Up until the iPhone X, the iPhone was kind of a one-tier family of devices. With a clear line of succession, that were all released at a similar price
4 -> 4S -> 5 -> 5S -> 6 -> 6S -> 7

(Yes, yes, it's just portrait lightning but just look at the fake aperture setting exclusive to the Xs or now night sight – which is a longer shutter speed with some AI stuff. Surely nothing that would make a one-year old flagship phone that also has a Neural Engine burst out in flames)
Hey everyone quick question: the Smart Cover on my 9.7 inch iPad Pro is starting to fall apart. I should just be able to use any 9.7 inch Smart Cover to replace it even if they don't specifically mention the iPad Pro yes?
Cool. I take it Apple no longer sells the 9.7 Pro Cover either?Nope, the 9.7" Pro used a different Smart Cover because the internal magnet layout is slightly different.

But A10 still offers plenty of power when it comes to media consumption and web browsing, right?
Just for clarification, all of next years models will have OLED and 5G compatibility. So guys, you recommend I'll get the iPhone 11, yep? Is it me or is iOS' keyboard annoying. I find myself constantly making errors typing.
I've been using it constantly for a while now.did you just get on iOS? I just wondered if maybe it needs to learn where you hit the keyboard? I'd love to learn how the keyboards work in the background to make the experience better, like does predictive txt get any better over time and is there any ways I can interact with it to make it work better for me? I don't have to many issues, but I do agree the better you get at the kb the less of a headache using these devices is. Like nobody knows shake to undo. change that to shake to show me all the hidden shit I can do on my screen lol. prob Against there design philosophy lol
i looked up iOS kb tips and quickly realized I forgot a bunch of tricks that will make my life happier but I tbh I really like the iOS kb and the iPad one.
You can really tell that Tim Cook is a numbers guy, not a product guy, he is absolutely nailing the process of getting as much bang for buck out of components used. 3 year old tech in a new, although entry level, iPad; savage.
I (parents and brother) spent 700 or so bucks on 128 gb lte ipad and i legit only use it on wifi for youtube, texting, twitter, and websurfing. Complete waste IMHO though it did help me pass bar exam thru practice examsJust WiFi. It's easy enough to tether if need be, and I've would up never using cellular data more than once or twice a year on the cell tablets I've bought in the past.
So i want to do pre-approval butit's only on carriers, so I am confused.. it says the phone is still unlocked even if you do the apple payments for carrier. Is this true?
I want to do pre-approval for it but I am worried it's not truly unlocked...
It's unlocked. The way the website lays it out is correct: the only locked phone to buy from Apple is on the AT&T Next program. Everything else, even if activating on AT&T but using Apple's financing, is unlocked.
