Did Namco confirm that? It would be a shame if they didn't. Namco Museum for Switch might have fewer games than their previous collections, but it has fantastic presentation, a snappy UI, and lots of sensible stretching and scanline options (such as a quick toggle to rescale 1:1). It's much more than I can say for Arcade Archives, which are very barebones, terribly slow to start (logo after logo, region select screen, user select screen), and barely serviceable stretching options (no proper 1:1 mode, have to manually rescale a number when portable vs docked).

Galaga 88 is SO GOOD. Especially its use of HD rumble. You can literally feel ships explode.

I need to get this. Just want to get it on sale. Don't usually mind paying good money for games but I don't want to drop the full price on this one since I already own so many of these games.

Have we gotten confirmation that Baseball Stars is Baseball Stars 2? It's listed at the top with the Neo Geo games, but seeing how the list includes both Neo Geo and non-Neo Geo SNK games, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be the first Baseball Stars.

we already got the first BS. It's called Baseball Stars Professional. The NES got BS without the pro at the end of it but that's not what's coming. It's BS2.

They had it back at Christmas for like $20 at Best Buy, I think? It definitely gets discounts. That's when I bought it to throw it under the tree (and it remains unopened because I'm too gd busy to play it yet...).

I don't think that even exists
Not as a Neo Geo game. Like you said, the series debuted on Neo Geo as Baseball Stars Professional. But the original Baseball Stars was a NES game as well as a Playchoice-10 arcade cart. It's very unlikely Hamster will release this game bundled with a brand new, one-use only NES/Playchoice-10 emulator instead of Baseball Stars 2, but seeing how they're now digging into SNK's pre-NG library such as Ikari Warriors, it remains a very tiny very shitty possibility.

nah, it remains as a zero percent possibility. It wouldn't count as a full arcade game and thus they'd have no reason to release it. The video showcase labeled BS2 as a Neogeo game, so that's what it will be

Any news on more Taito games being released in this series?
Or is Square going to divide all their games in individual releases as with the Darius Cozmic Collection...or just not release them at all.

I just want to replace my 480i PS2 collections with fresh HD versions. And, man, I love Genkirindan. Oh, and including TATE mode would be a nice plus for us outside Japan.

Bubble Bobble and Ninja Warriors are leftover from PS4 so I wouldn't be surprised if those eventually make it to Switch. DARIUS may be skipped due to the collection

Hamster is doing the Konami Arcade, Contra and Castlevania Collections!
I'll repost here what I said on the other thread:

YES! I just spotted this on the bottom of the official website:

Powered by Arcade Archives

This means that these games are being ported by Hamster, who are doing the Arcade Archives. The emulation is guaranteed to be perfect, then! :D

their name is only on the arcade collection page

Well, this week's release came out of nowhere.

Is Formation Armed F worth a buy? It looks really great, but does it play well?
I already love most Nichibutsu games, so this seems like it's perfect for me. But, I may wait for a few impressions first.

If nothing, else, I just might pick it up to have more TATE mode shmups on the Switch.

Sale is on all stores I believe. Good stuff too.

Neo Geo - Aero Fighters 2, Zed Blade, Sengoku, KoF '94, and Metal Slug

Arcade Archives are Crazy Climber, Moon Cresta, Terra Cresta, Kid's Horehore Daisakusen, and Ninja-Kid.

Zed Blade is so much fun - a bit of mindless blasting, but excellent shmup action for sure!

Picked up most of the non-NeoGeo games this time around. Finally got to experience Crazy Climber.

More sales please, Hamster!

Can someone recommend me some more beat 'em ups besides Sengoku?

Top Hunter for sure - it takes a bit to get used to the mechanics, but it's pretty awesome. It's also a bit of a platformer, too. Check out Spin Master, too, if you want some more platforming in your game.

Also, I enjoy Mutation Nation, but it's not quite as good as Sengoku 3. Burning Fight is alright, and Robo Army can be pretty cool, too.

Double Dragon 2 is alright if you want something from Technos. And, of course, Renegade is essentially the first template for most beat em ups from that time onward.

Fine people of Era, I'm going to buy one of the Super Sidekicks games and I need your help determining which one it should be.

Most people seem to be of the opinion that either 2 or 3 are the best in the series, but I ask you: which one should I get and why?
Also, if 3... how does it compare to Neo Geo Cup '98 seeing as they are essentially the same game?

What's wrong with 4 (The Ultimate 11) for people to dislike it so much?

2 is the prefect arcade soccer game to me. It has the speed, animations, gameplay etc etc. and no unnecessary ballast.
While 3 and neogeo cup 98 seem to be pretty much the same gameplay-wise, there is definitely something "different" (at least to me).
I played 2 extensively when it was released and was excited when 3 came along but after spending some time with SS3 I was sort of confused. SS2 can be played so fluently and fast while SS3 feels "off". I cannot describe it too well (as you can see here), it's just not the same.

Apart from that SS3 has more teams (afair) and some other minor additions. cup 98 is basicely the same game but with some name and country changes.
you could say, it was the FIFA 2020 of its time.

stay away from ultimate 11. it looks phenomenal but plays wonky. the added energy (or whatever) bar ultimately changed the gameplay. it sucks ass. I must admit, that I haven't played it too much though.

These are my opinions about these games. SS2 is king for me.

Ok, I believe I've come up with a solution to this problem... how about I get SS2 for the Switch and SS3 for the PS4? ^^
To that effect, SS3 or Neo Geo Cup '98? Which would you pick?

Get SS2 for switch, play it and see for yourself if SS3 or cup 98 is worth your money.
I own ss2 on switch and its the perfect arcade soccer for quick matches or on the go.

If you take ss3 or cup98 really just depends on which countries you like more. As i said before they are essentially the same games just with some countries exchanged.
I'm sure there is a list with the changes out there

SS3 or NGC98 aren't available on PS4 outside jp so I went the other route, SS2 on PS4 and NGC98 on Switch. Turns out I already had access to SS3 on my Wii copy of SNK Arcade Classics so I went with NGC98 to diversify.
I can't really tell much of a difference between the games as of yet but I'll get some multiplayer matches going tomorrow to test them both out properly. Thanks for the help!

awesome news. I always wondered how it is.

I wonder if it's (Mr. Goemon) any good?

I can tell you in an hour. it looks like goofy fun on youtube. Mr. Goemon looks like a Geisha for some reason though.
only when he attacks he has the "normal" Konami-Goemon face. lol

but he was a hero nevertheless (according to wiki). too bad he was executed by some asshole who boiled him (alive!) in oil..

off-topic: anyone saw the movie? is it good?

With all these sales I have bought like 8 aca games in 2 weeks, 4 dollars is a much better price for what these games offer, I will save 8 only for those games who would never get a sale/are too obscure/Neo Turf Masters

Excellent. In the Hunt, Blazing Star, Aero Fighter 2, and Tengai were already in my wishlist. I looked at Dragon Blaze before, and I'll check it out again. Haven't played Gradius or R-Type in years! Thanks! I also have the Darius collections in my wishlist (JP account), but they're so expensive :(

Also, why is it that everyone recommends Aero Fighter 2 over 3?

3 is also good but AF2 is the best.
It just 'flows' perfectly. A true not-too-hard oldschool shmup.
It's my fav 2 player shmup, next to sonic wings on SFC.

If you want a lot of these in physical collections there will be Psikyo alpha and beta collections coming in January and February, respectively. Think they will be a little expensive ($60 each), but another option if you want them that way.

I appreciate it, but I actually prefer digital! I learned my lesson after making four international moves this decade. On a related note, some of the few physical games I've held on to are all my 360 Cave shmups... well, almost all of them (I actually didn't love Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets, so I sold it).

Which are the best display settings on the neo geo games? I have heard that the default display ratio is incirrect in the games. Also which is the best filter for the games? It seems like when you add more scanlines the game get more darker so Im not sure about the purpose of those or if they require some tweaking on the console
