First one is best. Second is great, but not as good. Third is bad but a guilty pleasure. 4 is love or hate, but never approaches the highs of the first or second ones.

Joe Pesci also becomes a regular in the movies, he was that short funny voice guy from the Home Alone movies and Goodfellas....the guy who always hangs around Robert De Niro in gangster movies.

He is hilarious in this.

Yeah. The first two are great, the third is kind of forgettable but still trashy fun, and the fourth is pretty good too.

Definitely watch the first one. If you like it, 2 is just as good. 3 is rather silly and not very good imo. 4 is better than the third, but it's a huge step up.

1 and 2 are the best, 3 is the most boring of the franchise but the series as a whole is just a fun as hell buddy cop series

The secret strength of the Lethal Weapon movies is that they maintained the same director and actors the whole way through. I don't think any of the movies are great, but they're consistently ok, and watching them all together feels like a season of tv that was shot over a decade.

I'd say don't support anything with Mel Gibson in it but you do whatever you want to do.

Definitely. People say 3 is boring, but I think Joe Pesci alone makes it worth watching.

I just watched the series, and the first one felt like it had been copied to death so hard afterwards that it barely had much to stand on by it's own anymore.

The sequels were more fun cause it was less inventing the trope but exploring it, for me.

I've only seen Lethal Weapon 5, but it was pretty great. The sex scene was a little graphic tho. Some would say it was tasteful, but nah.

The first two are good, and knowing what we now know about Mel Gibson and how completely fucking unhinged he is, his performances in these movies as a barely-under-control psychotic are more interesting than ever.

I'll echo everyone else and say that the first one is very good.

I don't really remember much about two and three they kind of blend together in my head. But I know they weren't bad.

4 has Jet Li as the antagonist.

Overall I think yes, they're classics. They started the buddy cop genre in film.

Each one is like a time capsule of the time it was made, right up until the final installment which featured Jet Li and the ruthless Chinese mob, at the time when Chinese cinema was really penetrating US pop culture.

Just turn your brain off and have fun. They can be really funny at times, and the action is always good.
