I never heard of the Beetles. Maybe I should check them out. Kind of lame to make a joke on the Beatles though.
You missed the best one lol
Can we make this a Mogwai topic?

And so is the chart today but steaming is the #1 form of music consumption like radio was in the 60s
Individual single purchases didn't become a relevant metric until the 2000s
Because the implication was that sales were somehow more important back then than today which is false. Sales were equally unimportant if radio/streaming were high
But then we'd have to argue about how young team is really their only truly great album.
Wtf am I reading is this a popera thing? Like just falsehoods and apples oranges comparisons ?And so is the chart today but steaming is the #1 form of music consumption like radio was in the 60s

At least this is clean and obvious.wow impressive, she is truly the greatest and most influential artist of all time in any medium
It's just the truth. Songs rarely went platinum on sales until the 2000sWtf am I reading is this a popera thing? Like just falsehoods and apples oranges comparisons ?

You'd have huge #1 hits everyone knows that just scanned gold. People weren't buying individual songs that much.
I mean it's not even a hot take
It's ok the more talented and less appropriated Camila Cabello will do a top 4 later this year. ;)
yeah, it's nice seeing an artist be open in their writing instead of just singing "I wanna hold your hand" like sixty times in a row or about walruses speaking gibberish or whateverThose song titles alone make it obvious that she has the same lyrical power as the Beatles.
The same Camila who lost the Grammy to Ari's previous album, Swallower?
I have a hunch OP might not like that lol.
The fuck. But then we'd have to argue about how young team is really their only truly great album.
Lol, so the whole topic is flawed. Technically, the tweet is correct, she is the first since the Beatles, but the Beatles themselves did better than that.I thought the Beatles held the top 5 spots at one point?
Yes, they did.

So, she is kind of nowhere near their record.
EDIT: Can a Mod go change the OP or Thread Title?

Do you realize 45s were the biggest sellers until the shift to LPs became more commonplace?
That list only goes down to 5x platinum selling singles too(remember platinum is 1 million sales), doesn't even show songs that sold between 1 million and 4.99 million copies.
