MESA, AZ — A Mesa man is facing multiple charges for allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at a Door Dash driver.

Officers were called to the scene near University Drive and Dobson Road Sunday afternoon after getting reports of a man pointing a gun at a delivery driver.
When officers arrived, they found Valentino Tejada, 32, holding a handgun and arguing with the driver, 24-year-old Dimitri Mills.

Witnesses told police they overheard yelling coming from the parking lot and when they went outside, they say Tejada was pointing a gun at Mills, telling him to "stop stalking him."

Mills, told Tejada he was just a delivery driver and was there to drop off food. A witness told officers that when the victim started to walk away from Tejada, Tejada pointed a gun Mills.
In the arrest report officers indicate Tejada may be mentally disturbed.

"I didn’t see none of that. He was fully able, capable," said Mills.

Tejada has already been released, less than 48 hours after his arrest, with no bond, but the cell phone video will play a huge role in the case.

this is going to continue to escalate, especially with everyone being broke.

I suggest everyone arm themselves and get training.

So since it wasn't his delivery we can assume he was waiting outside with his gun in broad daylight waiting for a chance to pull his gun on a black guy

Arizona won't pass the red flag law, right? This shit could have been avoided.

This a dangerous attitude. Don't promote more people arming themselves as tensions rise.
I mean sure, but what if someone lives in a "hostile" area? Everyone's experience is different, and we shouldn't discourage someone from an option to protect themselves especially if it puts them on the same level.

Lets define tensions rising. POC being abused/shot to death without anyone having accountability. As has been the case for 37 years of my entire life.

With the economy going to shit, and Trump framing POC as the other, historically speaking, we've seen all of this before. This is going to continue to get worse, as people become more and more frustrated with their lives and look for outlets for that anger that the President and well, a good portion of the nation is giving to people.

I don't need to promote rights.

It still boggles my mind that so many people in the states have guns on them no matter where they go. The article mentions that the gun totting guy was known to them. Probably pulled similar shit before yet is able to just carry a gun on him like it is his wallet.

And I don't think firearms are the solution to those problems. I think they'd only exacerbate things.

The opportunities for accidents, suicide, or escalated situations that result in unnecessary bloodshed make me feel this way. I can understand someone owning a gun for protection, but I wish it weren't so prevalent in the US.

again answer the question, what do you think happens when another gun enters into the equation?

It's like some y'all want the violence to escalate.
I'm not advocating for more guns, although it's been a serious set of conversations I've had with friends and family who look like me.

That said, the bolded is pretty goddamn insulting. Nobody wants violence to escalate. It's generally a pretty one way street, actually.

insulting? It's common sense. add a gun into this situation is an immediate escalation and we might have a very different, very tragic situation to deal with.
