I remember when I was a teenager my uncle (who was a cop) had to work a rally of white supremacists because so many people threatened violence against the rally that the city was legally obligated to put police there.
I remember all of the cities cops were not happy about it, but it was either that or lose their jobs. It ended up being like 6 racists on a stage with hundreds of anti protesters and there was no violence so everything worked out for the best in my opinion.

"Nazis" were a political party born of the catastrophic situation in post WWI Germany. "Neo Nazis" are a group picked up decades later and despite historical hind-sight, though it was cool and formed a counter culture. They couldn't be more different.
America has a long history of Nazi movements. The German Nazis just had more historical impact.
Neo Nazi's are the 'new Nazis'. Basically the ideological continuation of Nazism without necessarily having a direct connection to Nazi Germany outside of that ideology.
They are still Nazis, it's just to differentiate between historical nazis and present day nazis
