Its up on Amazon.

Nice, I put in an order. Looks great.

I bring a shopping suitcase with me every time I go to Japan.

The amount of € saved on wishlist items makes up for a non-negligible part of the ticket.

They also sell good, affordable suitcases.

Last time, I bought a foldable canvas bag and stuffed all my clothes in it by the end : it ended up like a dirty laundry bag.
The suitcase was then filled with more... important stuff. Who needs clothes anyways.

My Japan strategy is always to shove everything I need into a carry-on suitcase, including an empty backpack at minimum, and then on the trip home checking the carry-on and stuffing everything I bought that can survive the trip into it, using clothing as extra padding if needed, and using my backpack as my carry-on for fragile stuff. Works out pretty good!

Are those 13 sentinels art books or manga?
Double Helix is the artbook and Double Strand is the script book. I've been going through them this evening and there's a ton of text even in the artbook.

I would say about maybe 1/3 of Double Helix is actually pure artwork, while a lot of it is still text, charts, and so on arranging story and setting data in a more concise form. It also replicates the entire database of the collectible item archive from the game, including all the art assets for the various items. The entire chronological event viewer listing with screenshots is also contained in the artbook. The more interesting artwork content would be a collection of all the backgrounds used in the game, a ton of sprite collections for all the characters in the game, as well as design artwork for characters, mechs, aliens, etc, including unused early concepts. There is also a collection of official illustrations for the game.

As for Double Strand, it's a complete and comprehensive scriptbook for the entire game. This includes flowcharts for the scenario branches for all the characters, and complete line by line dialogue scripts for all event scenes and variations. All text for the cloud think options for each character is also included. The script also covers the strategy game mission portions - all story dialogue and dialogue snippets used for reactions and actions during missions.

For those who can read Japanese, both books combined is basically a collection of everything one might find in 13 Sentinels and is an excellent resource for the story, characters, and setting. For those who cannot read Japanese, probably only Double Helix is worthwhile, and even then, be warned that a lot of it will still be text. It's a good reminder that 13 Sentinels is first and foremost a dialogue driven adventure game. Lol.

We just left a few hours ago and we ended up just buying a super cheap (like 4900 yen cheap) luggage to fill with the stuff we didn't care about as much to put all the stuff we do care about in our carry on bags.

We had 2 free bag checks per person so might as well use it.

Does anyone know if the date for the UK release of the 'Final Fantasy VII Remake: Material Ultimania Plus' is tomorrow?

I've been basing it on the Amazon page which says August 20th, but when I was looking around before I noticed that it's the only site that has this date. I know the release has been pushed back a couple of times, so was wondering if anyone in here has been keeping a closer eye on it.

Guess I missed some Lost In Cult email since I didn't know that was even a thing. Neet. Wonder if the direct from them book will be different than the amazon one like with the first handheld book.

Sea of Stars: The Concept Art of Bryce Kho went up for preorder today on 3dtotal. Went ahead and grabbed it, ships late may it seems. Even has free shipping in US which is refreshing.

Thanks for the heads up! Went ahead and submitted a pre-order. I'll admit the earliest report/rumors that the book was only going to clock in at 120 pages for the price being charged was something of a turn-off, so it's great to see the official page count is now 272. Beefy!

I think it's because I live in the tropics but the Elden Ring guide (the topic I posted about in this thread previously) has fallen to bits on me. Really disappointed, it's like the spine came loose and the pages are barely hanging on, they are still glued to the inner spot but yeah, I don't know if I got a bad copy or it's because I live somewhere hot?

ah OK, sounded like content differences in that post so if i'm reading this right it's reassuring. happy to buy on amazon and avoid the bonkers US shipping fees from LiC if it means missing out on a bookmark or something.

what were the differences?

Always meant to get around to posting comparisons, but here is the first Handheld history book and then the one from amazon;

wsP5hNx.jpeg

bZm4b6R.jpeg

In that last image the books are even on the back.

Same amount of pages, just different paper stock between the two. The extra width seems to just be a little bit of cutoff on the side of the page;
mVVbVuN.jpeg

There are a small number of pages where the art/pictures go all the way to the edge that then have cutoff because of this but it is very minor and don't think it would be noticeable. I didn't reread the book so don't know for sure that there is no content changes but only difference I could notice offhand is the legal page at the front of the book.

Would expect the same different in this (console chronicle) book as there appears to be the same difference in the listings on amazon and the direct site. Obi strip and full cover art on the direct version and color coded cover title on the one from amazon.

super helpful, thank you!! tbh i like some things and dislike some about both. i love the idea of an obi strip but it usually ends up being more of a hassle for me than anything. glad there's nothing major.

Thanks, this is actually quite helpful. Based on this I'd feel a lot more comfortable sticking with the standards, knowing that it's a thing Lost in Cult does now (though I guess they didn't do one for the second Handheld Chronicles book that I also didn't buy because I'm not made of money).

Yeah that is a weird thing I also noticed. Wonder why that is.

In related news I'm dumb as fuck. Already knew about/had the Console book preordered directly from them and just forgot about it. Bundled it with the second Handheld book. Had to dig through my emails to find it since even though they have an account system there doesn't seem to be an easy way to just log in and check it.

There isn't a way to cancel AFAIK either. Had to email them to get an order refunded the other day.

I got back from Japan on Monday and we happened to walk into Super Potato in Akihabara just to look around knowing that we weren't looking to pay their inflated tourist prices but to my surprise they had all of the Perfect Catalog books so I grabbed both of the PS2 books as it's my favorite console of all time.

Paying retail versus inflated eBay pricing combined with the 35% discount just from the Yen to USD conversion was great.

I ordered the Xenoblade 3 art book from Amazon.jp and...appear to have somehow wound up with a locked account and canceled order. This is not my first time ordering on amazon.jp and I have ordered stuff to my current address and using my current credit card without issue - so I am not sure why my account got flagged for potential fraud.

Has anyone had this happen before? Is there any resolution other than calling them? I don't speak Japanese and I just imagine that's going to be a nightmare if I try to call and explain the situation.

This is a snippet of the email I got from them. And indeed when I try to log in I am not able to and it explains that my account has been locked.

Either call the International number where they probably have English speakers available to talk to, or make a new account
