This is nothing like Hearthstone - if you are expecting "casual 5 minute games to pass the time" or "grind for free stuff" you will not get that kind of experience.
This is a hardcore math/RNG game which takes 20-30 minutes to play and you are expected to spend money.
The amount of money depends on how savvy you are in the market, your RNG in opening lootboxes, or winning in the Gauntlet.
I can attest that you can expect to lose a lot if you are going to just jump in without acquiring meta cards or meta decks.

Artifact is very much a 1v1 Richard Garfield version of DOTA 2.

An iOS and Android version is in the works (ETA 2019) but for now it is available on Steam. Also there seems to be a fluctuating list or modes and rumored modes like tournament draft.

I would highly recommend reading and watching both if you have never played a card game or DOTA before.
There is about two layers of jargon and key terms that you need to acquaint yourself with before you can have success.
Trying to explain everything in the OT would surpass the character limit.

You start with 10 5 booster packs and 2 starter decks of 54 cards each
There are currently 310 cards (77 rare, 78 uncommon, 82 common, 73 basic)
Acquiring new wards can only be purchased either in boosters, on the market, or won through Expert Gauntlets
Sadly there is no card trading
There are 4 color cards which don't really correspond to Dota or Magic colors:
DbuI0qD.png
Red are high stats heroes
DbuI0qD.png
Green uses summons and buffs
DbuI0qD.png
Blue is control
DbuI0qD.png
Black are hero killers
You must have a hero in lane to use spells of the corresponding color, so the more colors you mix the higher RNG it requires.

So when do I sell my cards from the "free" packs? Now or a bit later?
If I'm going to play this I'm going to play free drafts and that's it lol.

I'm really looking forward to playing it!

I haven't played a lane system card game since the Neopets trading card game, which is also my favorite card game of all time. So even though I know nothing about DOTA, it's quite exciting!

I have severe suspicions of this game, bothers me how they handle the market.

Ok. So I opened the game, skipped the tutorial and...I have no packs? and now I can't do the tutorial either? Cool game.

For those playing the beta: does the fact that cards are randomly deployed on the field annoy you?

Those types of things obviously do affect this, but in the long run aren't that bad and give it a little variety. I have yet to see a single time where those were the single factor that determined the game. You might think if you see a situation where an enemy hero got a straight arrow instead of one pointing at another target lost you the game, but if the tower was low enough where that makes the differences, you had lost the game with decisions long before that.

Nah, it's like real dota.

The issue with me is the direction the units attack. Pure RNG lolz

Nice. My only fear is that it is too dependant on RNG (I know this is a thing with every card game, but it seems like almost every aspect of its gameplay has some sort of RNG factor).

I can't play so I've spent 20 minutes watching nl_Kripp complaing about the buy/sell system. Then he gets proven wrong while trying to show an example lol

I've been playing the first match of the tutorial for 20+ minutes. Now it has stopped responding lol. Music and animations continue, but I can't click anything. What a clusterfuck.
