Still wrapping up Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Fire Emblem.
Just this month I've already preordered Link's Awakening, DQXI, and getting the Goose game. I had to skip out on Astral Chain and will be skipping Daemon X Machina due to funds.

Now adding Xenoblade, MP4 and Breath of the Wild 2 post 2019.
If Nintendo ever gets the idea to uprez 3DS games like Kid Icarus or LoZ:OoT/MM... the Switch will be one of the greatest Nintendo consoles ever.

The people saying "so many ports lol" must either not have a Switch or only play theirs docked.

The key point is that these games are portable now. You can pick up Witcher 3 or Divinity and play it wherever you want. That's the magic bullet here.

But how big of a factor is that when xcloud is out and you don't have to rebuy those games if you already owned them previously?

I felt much more thrilled with PS2 because all those games where completely new, and launched first on that system.
I have a really curated selection of games on my Switch, since I already own all the Wii U games that have been ported, and 3rd party games that have been available for months/years on several other platforms don't really excite me that much. Not to mention that they come often at a much higher price, too.
I understand that people who skipped Wii U are enjoying the system portfolio much more, and 3rd party support (even if with late ports) it's been great compared with the previous generation, no question. But imho Switch can't compete with the PS2 scenario. None of the current platforms can.

Not really. All platforms have tons of great games for everyone and I feel overwhelmed just looking at any platform selection of games I wanna play with not enough time. This isn't just a Switch thing however much this board makes you think it is.

There are so many great games these days from all avenues. I guess if you just own a Switch and all these influx of games were announced yesterday it may seem overwhelming. But if you own any other platform nowadays it feels the same. It's not as if there weren't any games to play on Switch before yesterday either.

My switch backlog is worth years of heavy gaming already. and I'm not even counting all the unplayed retro games (arcade etc) I have downloaded.

once BotW's successor is released I'm probably dead.

I've played all the major third-party titles already, but I'm continually excited by the first-party output. Haven't got around to Fire Emblem, will only find time for Astral Chain around Christmas, but I am prioritising Link's Awakening once that releases. I think we're starting to see the benefits of Nintendo focusing on one hardware platform.

This is the first time in my life that i'm actively skipping NINTENDO titles on a Nintendo console, because I don't have enough time, money, or both. I had to skip Mario Maker 2 and I'm already struggling to find time for Astral Chain. I avoided Fire Emblem because it will be a time sinker and I have a shitload of Switch games that I want to play before Zelda comes... and then Luigi. Holy shit.

I'm a pretty big cloud stan, including cloud gaming, but xCloud over mobile internet (especially while moving) is not going to give you half of the same experience as running a game from local storage.

I've already played the vast majority of games announced for Switch in the Direct so I don't quite feel the same. It's good that they're coming for Switch of course, the more people can play them the better, but for me it really was just the announcement of Deadly Premonition 2 that has me excited. I really didn't see that one coming.

Between first party, indie barrage of games and impressive 3rdParty ports its crazy out there.
Im still playing Slay the Spire and Fire Emblem.....potential backlog is massive though, as is my eShop wishlist.

There are so many games you could easy spend +50h on. This month especially is nuts....

I feel this, but I also felt it as a Steam user too. I think Steam gradually got me into a meta-game of game ownership. Gradually, it became more about owning a catalogue, getting the bargains, over actually playing the games.

I've got a huuuuge hitlist of games I want on Switch but I've put in a stringent rule to actually finish my existing titles and to buy games physically. Really resisting those impulse buys for games on sale. I kind of regret my digi buys that I could own on cart now, but I've rectified that. Obviously digi only is its own beast.

Got two more games coming into the ecosystem this Christmas with Yoshi's Crafted World & Super Mario Maker 2. I absolutely have a huge hankering for all the jRPG's hitting (but self imposed "must complete FFXII and Valkyria Chronicles rule here), plus a real desire for Luigi's Mansion, Sonic & Mario at the Olympics and Mario Brothers Deluxe for family fun.

I'm not even mad that the recent direct had almost nothing for me, since this fall is already packed and I still have a long wishlist of unpurchased games.

It's cool you feel this way OP, but I feel like ever since gaming has had digital distribution platforms (Steam, PSN, XBLA) this has been the case

Amazing sales, a slew of amazing new games being released from AAA titles to indie games, and old classics being revived with remasters and reissues

In the grand scheme of things it's been well over a decade since there was any real quality software drought

Way too many ports. I already played almost all of the games that interest me or I already own them for other platforms. I am happy for Deadly Premonition 2 though.

Totally agree. They've put some niche games in the spotlight this Direct, because the rest of 2019 is already so busy with more mainstream stuff.

Would've loved to finally see some Doom Eternal footage though...

Yep - Niche was exactly what I was thinking the whole time watching.

TMS #FE yet no mention of Pikmin 3 or W101 was disappointing, but I was glad to have Doom64 confirmed, and Gamefreak's Little Town Hero releasing so soon - for $25! - and looking so polished was a treat!
As was the DXM demo which is downloading as we speak.

I played most of the ports already and not interested in double dipping so that really helps with not getting overwhelmed. There is enough I want to play but not crazy at all.

I don't care about the ports and Indies so I'm skipping the 90% of the catalogue.

The Switch is definitely the most interesting console to me at the moment in terms of software (PC is still numero uno, but it's not a console). So many great games recently released and coming up. PS4 feels like it's on a strong decline (leading up to PS5). I'll be playing Iceborne on my Pro soon and I'm looking forward to TLOU2 and Death Stranding. The Switch on the other hand is really firing on all cylinders now.

For me, the switch portability means more than anything. I haven't turned on my xbox in over a year and my ps4pro had basically become a dedicated Divinity OS2 machine. Meanwhile, my switch gets daily play.

I'm fairly underwhelmed. I don't really enjoy playing it handheld and there's nothing that makes me want to plug our my Xbox for it to play on TV.

It will be a handheld Divinity machine for the next while.

I was overwhelmed 1-2 months ago, now I've lost track. I had in mind to get Dragon's Dogma on Switch at some point, now the list has expanded with Torchlight II, Spyro, Divinity 2 and I haven't even finished FE so I can play Astral after. I think I will just put all the games I want on wish list and buy them whenever they are on sale.

I have a Switch and an Xbox One X, it's gonna be brutal. This is what I'm planning on getting for both:

Switch - River City Girls, The Witcher 3, Pokemon Sword

XBOX - Gears 5, COD MW, Jedi Fallen Order.

I want to get more, but I have to budget both my time and money.

RIP my wallet indeed.

I've skipped Smash Bros, NSMBUDX, Yoshi, Mario Maker 2 and am skipping Daemon X Machina, Luigi's Mansion 3 and some other big games this year. There is a significant amount coming up and it is pretty crazy. I get about 2 hours of free time on most week nights at best, so I have to be very selective about the games I buy if I actually want to get the most out of them. That time also includes TV/Streaming Series which there's as much of as games as well haha

I only own a Switch too! I'm not sure how people gaming on multiple platforms do it!

After three generations of getting all the consoles, if this keeps up I'm leaning towards just going single console Switch in the future.
Between (married with children,) Netflix and soon Disney+ I can hardly dedicate the time to play a 30 hour game on the TV, and all the shorter games are also on Switch anyway.

I am totally overwhelmed at the moment too, but it would have been far better if games weren't almost all in the second half of the game...

It's just temporary thing. Starting with November this will calm down.

November has Doom Eternal, Pokémon, Doom 64 and Lucky's Tale while December has AC4 Collection and Samurai Shodown. You people can finish the games you got now then.

Personally the only thing I'm interested in for it is the new Brigandine. Did they announce any other jrpgs that are exclusive? I much prefer to play games on my ps4 and I don't care about almost any of Nintendo's franchises, but I pick up the Nintendo exclusive rpgs like fire emblem.

I've never even heard of almost any of these games.

I'm so looooong gone out of touch with the Nintendo ecosystem....

Edit: Most of the games I'm seeing are old? Divinity original sin 2? Devil May cry 2?
Yeah it's a weird one where they're bringing a huge number of older cult classics back into the ecosystem. They're all awesome games. It's great.
