John's focus segment last night was on Asian Americans. He pretty much hit all the right spots, from the Model Minority 'issue' and how Asian Americans are not a monolith.
John Oliver has been pretty good lately, way better than during the early trump era
If anything, I also find that the restrictions of COVID forcing him into a more podcast format has helped the show a lot. Not having to be as much a people pleaser to get the point across makes it flow a lot better
Nah, LWT threads typically get only a trickle of responses at the outset.Great segment especially for those who are not aware of the issues AAPIs face… So of course this barely gets any responses on ResetEra.
I wish he would keep the current format without a crowd. It's so much better.
It isn't the most up to date or topical news entertainment show, but the amount of work they put into each segment is admirable.I think it's really admirable that someone with a platform as big as his is finally covering this.
I remember that.Whew, that 'Can You get Coronavirus from Chinese Food' news segment gave me whiplash so hard I hurt my neck.
Yeah, they walked because the judge said they couldn't prove it was a hate crime.Another great episode. I had heard about the murder of Vincent Chin before but I don't think I even knew his murderers walked. So gross.
As it has always been, unfortunately.Great segment especially for those who are not aware of the issues AAPIs face… So of course this barely gets any responses on ResetEra.
But... like, even if he wouldn't label it a hate crime (and he obviously should have), it was still fucking murder god fucking dammit. Racist judges are a blight.Yeah, they walked because the judge said they couldn't prove it was a hate crime.
