Tips to level up gear? I feel like doing this is very expensive, so I don't know if there are strategies to have your favorite sets at the top level, or if you are screwed and you just have to play with whatever you find when you reach level 70

is the first set of dlc fully out, or out soon or whats going on? thinking of buying the season pass in the EU January deals, not much of a discount (25%) but considering I got vanilla Odyssey for 5€ (long story involving botched Gold pre-orders), I dont mind paying a bit more than I usually would.

Basically just use whatever you find, and then every couple of levels you can choose to upgrade a particular piece of gear up to your level. Yes, it's really expensive. But later on, selling and dismantling all that extra gear you pick up will net you a lot of money and resources.

Also, you should be stocking up on resources bought from blacksmiths if you can afford it. Basically every time you are near one, check to see if they have crafting resources for sale, and buy as much as you can afford. It's very easy to get money later on, but some resources are still a bit hard to accumulate.

Gear perks are more important than armour or damage, so prioritise building a set (or a few sets, I have about six, Ubi patch in loadouts pls) which has the stats for your play style.

Bear in mind legendary armour pieces automatically get boosted to the level you are at when you acquire the final piece in the set AS LONG AS YOU DON’T STORE THEM ON YOUR SHIP.

Once you have sets you like, upgrade every five levels or so, otherwise the increases in damage and armour aren’t worth the investment. At every tenth level, the perks will also be levelled to their next tier when you upgrade.

By the time you’re at the stage of the game where you have full armour sets worth keeping and upgrading you’ll be swimming in resources. Until then just keep swapping out for what’s best.

Also transmog is free and remembers every item you’ve picked up, even if you get rid of it. There’s no need to hold on to specific gear just because you like its look like we had to in the dark pre-patch days before Fashion’s Creed.

You should have plenty of stuff by level 70 for this not to be an issue. At level 55, I'd maxed out my ship. After that all materials are just for upgrading, and you should be drowning in money.

Thank god this is live. I've been holding off a bit ever since I hit 70 because any xp I earned was going to waste. Can't wait to spend the 30 points I got and start tooling around with builds again.

Also thank god I can scale everyone up to my level. Getting lvl 68 gear all the time was annoying.

Question on the Pirate set: it says it's giving a 50% boost to all Assassin abilities, but does that extent to the critical assassinations? I don't know if the game only counts abilities as things that have to be assigned to a button or just every action in the ability tree.

In theory, if I haven't reached level 70 yet, would I get those 30 ability points later?

Anyone else getting heavy loading since the patch? Items and cultist take longer to load in the menu and getting more pop-in than usual out in the world and some aggressive LoD at times.

On a PS4Pro.

Where's the new quest? The Daughters of Lalala or something?

Also a while ago I did a sidequest where a little orphan girl was making 'friends' out of mud. At the end Kassandra commented that she should check up on her later. Anyone know where that was?

It kinda sucks devs sometimes add real gameplay enhancing elements so long after release. Like this time the engravement vendor. I am glad I just started the game a week ago, but some people are already done with the game and would probably wish this was in the release build.

Horizon Zero Dawn also addes really neat changes long after I finished the game. TW3 is another example.

Bear in mind legendary armour pieces automatically get boosted to the level you are at when you acquire the final piece in the set AS LONG AS YOU DON’T STORE THEM ON YOUR SHIP.
I can store things on my ship? Why would I do that? Don't I have unlimited storage space on my person regardless? Or has the game introduced a mechanic where you can only hold a certain number of weapons/armor on you at any given time?

I use it to declutter my inventory from items I never use but can’t destroy.

Also, game changer not mentioned in the patch notes: there’s no an “equip set” button in the inventory! As someone who has five different sets I regularly swap between, this is huge.

This is a bit of an odd complaint. "Help, I got too much game for my money." It feels overwhelming at first but once you get a fair way in the gameplay loop gets easier to handle, and more enjoyable once you're used to everything.
That's one surface level take, mate. I burned out on the game waaaay before I got to the end. I really enjoyed my time with it, but I'd have loved to stay motivated until the very end. Being too lengthy a game is a perfectly legitimate complaint and seems to affect way more games these days than in previous generations.

I’m playing through it a bit now. Is there any way to unlock those armor sets in the store, in game? Other than buying them with real money. Didn’t origins have something like that?

Question regarding the level scaling, I intend to set it to light because I've finished the main story and want to just breeze through everything now, but does it effect XP gain as well? Like if I clear a fort full of enemies 2-4 levels lower than me does the area completed XP get knocked down too?

Okay so I have roughly 70 hours into the game and dropped it after I beat it a couple of months ago and just now returning to it.
1. Love that new assassin ability that makes enemies just go puff
2. Holy shit does leveling up pass 50 take a long ass time. I am playing on normal so I guess I need to raise the difficulty to hard or something? I played about 5 hours and only advanced two levels.
3. Like the new DLC missions they are fun.

So i definitely think this game looks much better now after the latest patch. Lighting sources like fire are improved, much less texture loading, colors pop out more, shadows are better, textures are crispier....
What's even more noticable: they actually added more detail to the game. Walking through Athens makes this very clear, they added flowerboxes, carpets, wagons have a lot of merch on them, water in vats/puddles is finally moving, wood looks like wood etc... Athens feels much more dense and epic to me since i first walked in more than a month ago. Much better looking game to me since launch, it's coming close to the look of Origins:)

Ubisoft really cares about their games which is great. Playing on Pro.

The main quest level requirement is confusing. I just got the Sphinx riddle quest line but it says I should be level 35 (I’m only 29). So is that telling me that I shouldn’t be doing that yet. Like the go home to Sparta quest is still above me at 31 as well

Raising the difficulty didn't seem like it had any effect. The fastest way to level up in the endgame is A) Conquest battles and B) taking contracts that require you to destroy ships or kill Spartans/Athenians all over Greece. Specifically the ones that require you to kill like 30 soldiers or 15 ships of a certain type have netted me somewhere around 200,000 xp per contract.

I haven't played the game for a month and a bit so they may have adjusted this in a patch, but originally changing the difficulty did effect xp gain. On harder difficulties the game would scale low level content closer to your actual level resulting in you playing higher level content and so more xp gained. You might also have got more level appropriate loot drops but I never tested that, that's just me theory crafting. Their was this cheeky exploit when you did a quest you could jack the difficulty down to easy during it and when you had to turn it in turn it up to nightmare and you would get a higher xp reward.

Yeah turning the difficulty up gave you way more XP... I hope they didn't patch that out.

Easiest way to farm marksmen? Even in fortress you have a high chance of not finding one, oddly enough, I found one in one of those 3 men camps across the road

If you fight the Athenian in the arena there’s a marksman in one of the waves of enemies. That’s the quickest way I’ve found to farm them, but I don’t know if there’s anywhere where you can find more than one at a time.

I'm on PC, and I also thought that the game looked sharper, particularly the NPC clothing and possibly the main character's armour. I'm guessing that the improvements that I'm seeing are listed in the patch notes as the following:
  • Addressed several visual effect issues with weapons and outfits
  • Addressed various instances of corrupted textures on NPCs
