I'm playing through this right now and enjoying it. Considering getting the expansions too. And now player quest creator? My Odyssey will go on forever! Which I don't mind, Kassandra is a great character

Oh man, this will be really cool if it catches on and people use their creativity.

Would be even cooler to see people break the canon and do some alternative universe shit. If anybody played San Andreas on PC, there was a mod that let you create your own mission campaigns and it ended pretty cool with people making storylines and shit like that.

Hopefully they let you use different character models too!

Ah great, instead of improving narrative in ubisoft games, they'll now just be done by the players!

I'm going to use this tool to create the fetch quest from hell, where every step has a horde of Bandits waiting to ambush the player.

Not in the slightest, AC Odyssey was one of my favorite games of last year, and I'm currently playing the newest DLC. I was mostly joking, though the series has been incredibly disappointing with its over arching narrative for a while now, and introducing player choice and rpg-style questing plays a big part in that.

Please Ubi. If this is anything like FarCry Arcade I will love yall.

And yes if we can do our own dialogue I will be so damn happy.

I wish more games had something like this. It was pretty cool in inFAMOUS 2.

If done 'right' that could lead to a lot of good additional content from the community. Maybe they even go the modding way like in Skyrim. Can't wait till the last official story DLC is out to jump back into the game.

Holy moly, at this rate they'll just keep updating Odyssey with stuff until the next game comes out next year. :p

I mean, history tourist mode thingy is still supposed to be coming as well, right?

Game is so damn massive.

Awesome! I will make the gayest Assassin's Creed quests ever. (They'll probably have some rules that you can't include pornographic content which is unfortunate but I'll find ways to work around that :p.) Would be awesome if they included the option to add your own voice recordings (though, of course, Alexios and Kassandra would need to remain unvoiced) but even if it's all just text-based without dialogue audio, it'll be nice to play around with.

Odyssey is legit an odyssey. I've never felt so swept away from an Assassin's Creed game as I have from this. It's so fantastical and really brings this heroic sense of myth and legend. Can't wait to see what gamers can cook up with their own modding tools.

Won't it be a headache for developers to filter quests with inappropriate content? Especially if you can add your own voices.
Anyway, I like the idea. We're finally going to do some interesting quests in Athens XD

Let's see how robust it is... odyssey isnt exactly lacking in quests already so if the tools dont exist to allow players to create different kinds of objectives, I dont see this adding a ton of value

I don't think it's a maybe.

Yesterday when the DLC released the game did the usual pop-up prompt to let me know it was there and downloadable. I went to the PlayStation Store, started the download, waited for it to finish, jumped back into the game, and when the PS4 resumed the game, the cursor had this message stuck to it:

uv4egrB.png

It followed the cursor around the menus:

2kSY3bO.png

So, there's something there already called My Stories, either present and waiting to be unlocked or (as the message suggests), partially present and waiting for an update to complete the feature.

(I checked all the menus, there was nothing new, just this one message following the cursor around).

If they do it they are doomed. What will future Assassin's Creed get as side content? It will be impossible to do something that hasn't been done in this new mode...

Those of us who follow this game have been expecting this for the pre-show, as this mode has been known for some time and Ubisoft tweeted there would be Odyssey news for the pre-show.

But with no Fall 2019 Ubisoft game ready besides Ghost Recon Breakpoint, some of us hoped for a second Odyssey season pass, especially considering this August 2018 quote from Yves:
"The team really want to give, on a regular basis, some new possibilities for play, so when you get ["Assassin's Creed Odyssey"] this year, you're going to get in for a couple of years, actually," Guillemot said.

...So more Ubisoft-created story content seemed possible, considering this was their first significant single-player take on a Games As A Service. But if this is what they're teasing, it looks like a second season pass is not to be.

Well balanced and polished content?

User Content is rarely ever good. For every 99 shitty stories, maybe 1 ends up being decent.

Could we sample troy baker's voice from different games and use it here?
or imagine in the future, AI created voiced dialogue

Presumably, any user-generated content will be limited to using assets that are already in the game. Be that animations, environments, items, etc. Not to mention that it will, of course, be limited to the setting of Odyssey. And it likely won't be voiced, either, and won't have proper cutscenes. So yeah, there's plenty of new stuff Ubisoft will be able to do in future games that people won't be able to do with this mode.

All that being said, I do hope that this will be feature-rich and in-depth to allow people to really tell their own stories and unfold their creativity. At the moment, I'm cautiously optimistic but it might just turn out to be very barebones and lacklustre.

I mean I'm all for it too, but I'm scared that Ubisoft are shooting themeselves adding this. Let's see how it turns out.

the support Origins / Odyssey get post release is RIDICULOUS, no matter what you might feel about the games.

I think a large chunk of their playerbase won't even end up touching the user generated content or will maybe play, like, the five most popular user generated quests so I really wouldn't be worried. And the kinds of stories you can tell and tell well will be limited by the setting. There are certain things that just won't work in ancient Greece.

One thing I am curious about is how these will tie into the main game. Will people just be able to specifiy a recommended skill level or a point in the story where their quest should become available and, if you've "installed" that quest as a player, you will be able to play it at that point in the game as part of your normal playthrough or will they be completely separate from the main story or sth? Will people be limited to Kassandra and Alexios as the protagonists of their quests or will they be able to pick any random character (or even create one using the NPC character creator)? So many questions.

Yeah, released yesterday. This episode is probably going to split the opinions of fans of the first episode.

I think it's not going to affect them, whatever Story Mode ends up being, it'll have limitations compared to what Ubisoft themselves can do. I expect it'll probably let you set a quest-giver, set objectives throughout the map, set some kind of reward, then do some basic scripting (both in the narrative sense and the game sense of having events trigger). That would result in some nice additional content and some weird ideas, but probably nothing that'd threaten Ubisoft's own production.

the support Origins / Odyssey get post release is RIDICULOUS, no matter what you might feel about the games.
Yep, Odyssey probably now has about twice as much content as when it originally released, and it was one of the most content-packed games of 2018, and there's still a DLC episode, this Story Mode and the Discovery tour to come.

At the very least it'll need to be optionally enabled. One of the AC Odyssey updates a few months back had a screenshot showing an updated options menu, which included a Story Mode On/Off option that nobody at the time knew the purpose of (and which raised suspicions when that update released and didn't include that option).

For skill levels I think they'll default to relying on the level scaling. They have that system in place and tied into player preferences already, so it'd make sense to use it rather than having people create level 99 quests that only a fraction of the player base can access.

Will people be limited to Kassandra and Alexios as the protagonists of their quests or will they be able to pick any random character (or even create one using the NPC character creator)? So many questions.
This is a really good question. I guess any kind of character would be playable. It'd add a whole lot of flexibility to the mode with minimal effort from Ubisoft.

I've put a ton of time into contracts mode in Hitman; having already put ~100 hours into Odyssey, this seems like it could hook me for dozens more.

But what if you create a quest that is supposed to fit into a specific part of the main story or that references characters or events from earlier in the main story? There should be some sort of way to specify at what point a quest shows up. Maybe you will be able to reference the official quests and specify that yours should be triggered once quest XYZ is completed or sth.
