This thread reminded me that I tried to assemble and paint an entire Space Marine chapter. Maybe it's time I go back to finishing that.
I remember that. My local G.W tried to jazz up the DVD release with a metal case. Glad I did not buy it.I like how this looks 10x better than the actual official Space Marines movie.

God, no. The last thing I want to hear is Sharlto Copley's grating, high-pitched voice.
If ever seeing normal Astartes is once in maybe tens of generations event for some planets, where they never visit most, then think how unbelievable rare it's to see Grey Knight or Custodian. Even for Astartes themselves.

Too much hyper masculinity, too nihilistic. How many 40k fans are women? It would be hard as hell to get this on screen in any big budget incarnation faithful to the source material..That would be insanely good. I don't understand why Hollywood hasn't jumped on this. The 40K universe is so rich with lore.

Not a las cannon was a multi laser =)Sliiiightly butthurt that captain just tanked a Heavy Las Cannon.
Oh well, the Plasma Pistol was sick.
To GW's credit, they're usually really cool about this stuff. They even greenlit an official animated project from someone who had done a few fan films. They need to give this guy a team too though.Super impressive. Guy's bound to find professional work, if he isn't already a pro.
It sucks knowing each minute takes roughly 4-5 months to produce, though. Lord knows whether he'll even complete this (or if GW decides to slap him with a C&D).
I'm going to need to some more background on those two groups because they're sounding pretty incredible. Also, the fact a Warhammer mmo never caught on is such a missed opportunity. You NEVER remember seeing Grey Knights, though. At best, the Inquisition wipes your memory, possibly leaving you a vegatable.
At worst, your planet is blown up.
Custodes are ever worse, since they only appear in situations ever Space Marines can't handle...

I'd love to see it, but it would totally bomb. Game of Thrones isn't a great comparison because it has funny and (more importantly) charismatic characters. GoT is also relatively way more down to Earth and grounded. Granted, I don't know too much about the 40K universe beyond some wiki reading here and there, playing some of the games, and reading a few chapters of Horus Heresy, but I know it's WAY dryer and serious and humorless and charisma isn't something I'd attribute to any of the characters I've read about. Considering how much money you'd need to do it justice in live action, it would just bomb ultra hard. Makes way more sense to do animated movies through VoD.I'm sure the same was said of Game of Thrones at one point. A series centered on the inquisition could be whatever you wanted it to be. Or even rogue traders.
Custodes:http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Grey_Knights

Grey Knights are specialized daemon hunters, Custodes are the Emperor's bodyguards.
"They are to the Space Marines what those transhuman warriors are to common Guardsmen,"
The Adeptus Custodes are so revered that it is deemed heresy for the Administratum to record them ever losing a battle.
Look up the Ciaphas Cain books and there is your perfect entry point into how amazing the 40k universe is.I'd love to see it, but it would totally bomb. You'd probably have to go the horror angle and make it from the perspective of the humans caught in the middle.Too much hyper masculinity, too nihilistic. How many 40k fans are women? It would be hard as hell to get this on screen in any big budget incarnation faithful to the source material..

I think Sharlto would work pretty well as an Ork actually lol.Daemonette: *hissing noises*

To further clarify on the links provided by the others, Grey Knights are top secret special forces Marines. They specialise in killing daemons. They wipe the minds of marines that see them like the Men in Black, any normal human is simply executed en mass. Like planet wide litteral death camps to remove any potential witness.

Are Custodes and Grey Knights comparable in terms of power level then?

Damn the lore of 40k is awesome, I could get lost in it for ages. It's pretty perfect for converting into any sort of adaptation in multiple mediums it seems. I'm glad GW is relatively liberal with licensing out the property. There's a few upcoming games aren't there?

I suggest reading the emperor of mankind's wiki entry. Because everything surrounds him up until the end of the hours heresy, you get a pretty good general idea of what the storyline is and all the important stuff just by reading his history. You can then branch out from there.Man I really want to get into 40k series but thw lore is so rich and kind of boggling where to really start. So shorts/anime like this is perfect. Hard to believe it's fan made.
