Actually, I'll count this place to buy this game. It's the more rank and file gaming public that I'm concerned with.

It looks outstanding, so hopefully Switch owners invest in what is at least apparently a high value exclusive. And if it tanks, I hope deals are negotiated to see the title released elsewhere.

Remember that this is a PlatinumGames AND Nintendo IP.
Nintendo are aware of this plan of doing a trilogy, they are also aware that this will sell even less than, say, Xenoblade and stuff like that.
I think it's definitely possible we'll get the trilogy, especially if Astral Chain is a ~80-90 MC score.
Nintendo paid the bill for Bayonetta 2 & 3 when no one else wanted to.

i doubt it's gonna end on a cliff hanger. i think it'll be like bayonetta, a self-contained story leaving some room for a potential sequel.
There's probably some elements lost in translation but I'm pretty sure they just mean that they envision the series as a trilogy. I suspect that doesn't mean they can guarantee its development, iirc Bayonetta was also planned as a franchise before Nintendo had to save it from limbo, but that too was perfectly fine just as a self contained game. Presumably they just mean here that they wanna do more Astral Chain games.
I actually think it will do rather well. Not Nier Automata well, but over 1M at least.
I mean I don't really blame them. I could go on how aesthetics meshing with gameplay I don't quite know who it was for.

I don't think it will sell a huge amount of copies, but it will probably cross the million if reviews are good. The game looks great and it has that Nier Automata like quality feel to it so I have high hopes for this one. Switch games sell well so I kind of doubt it will come anywhere close to bombing to be honest.
