Mueller gets halted

Congress restarts Mueller

House Dems get lumped in with Mueller investigation, Trump uses it to catalyze votes against the house.

2020 is on fire.

All according to Russia's plan.

Ahh not so fast.

Still have plenty of time left in this lame duck session.

If he fired Mueller now we'd have to rely on the GOP to find their balls and that isn't very likely.

Not really. It would just be delaying the inevitable for Trump and co. Dems are guaranteed control and they'll use it if they have to.

Is there anything preventing all the documents compiled by Muller to be destroyed before January? There's nothing preventing from happening is there? By this admin of course.

So he can end the Mueller investigation before the dems take over the house? I hope that isn't the case.

They got two months to fire him and destroy everything from the investigation

The problem now is that the president will know everything mueller is looking into through his new AG. Which could set the chess moves for trump to start covering his tracks and coming up with alibis...if at all possible.

You have a lot more faith in that man's intelligence than most.

Man, this is bad.

I hope all of the info Mueller has gathered has been disseminated or backed-up or out of the new AGs reach somehow.

All indications are that Mueller's investigation is winding down. Not sure how many "chess moves" there are left for Donnie to make. Y'all give Trump too much credit. He's not some evil genius. He's a legitimately stupid person who has failed his way upward through life because he's rich and white.

People stating no worry the House can save the day are wrong. The only way Congress can step in is if they were to reintroduce the Independent Counsel and that requires both chambers to pass it

"Destroy everything"

How? Do people think Mueller keeps evidence in a shoe box?

They've probably typed up reports on literally everything and have that backed up all over. You can't "destroy" that stuff.

edit:

Only if they want that to be his title. House investigative committees can hire whatever PIs they want to, backed by their own investigative powers (like congressional subpoenas).

Matthew Miller (former DOJ official) painting a very bleak picture of this Whittaker guy on MSNBC. Said he's probably the worst pick Yrump could've made for the security of the Mueller investigation.

Says he has a plan that would starve the investigation of the resources necessary to properly do his job.

Yeah, the new acting AG is an evil fuck too, so I'm not celebrating. All this does is put Mueller's investigation directly under a Trump stooge and no longer with Rosenstein. He will try to block the release of any info from the investigation or obstruct it through shitty loopholes.

I'm sure it'd go over real well with the investigation if Mueller got reinstated in January and all his shit was gone.

That'd totally play.

What if the new AG just acts as a roadblock of sorts to the Mueller investigation by not approving expenditures or indictments?

There's not much backlash to this move. Mueller is protected by last nights win. The investigation goes on no matter what.

This could just be Trump getting rid of someone that he doesn't like. And I doubt he'll be the last either.

The thread title is still misleading. Too many people see this as a resignation even though it most definitely wasn't.

Why is this a surprise to anybody??? On all the midterm coverage yesterday one of the topics was that Sessions was planning on resigning today anyways. This was the plan all along.

Thats if they wanted an independent counsel. They can start an investigation without a special counsel.
