Called my mom as soon as I read this. We currently live behind a park that always does a firework show for the Fourth and haven’t been downtown for fireworks in years.

Possibly even more than the FBI being a problem the media reports on this stories are a sham. They are basically pres releases. This nbc news one is actually surprisingly candid, but i'm sure you'll see a shit of local news reports act like this was a plausible real attack that was stopped at the 11th hour.

There’s a pattern of the FBI befriending losers and talking them into planning terrorist attacks that they never would have on their own. There’s also been cases of feds trying to infiltrate mosques only to have the mosques immediately report the undercover agent as a possible terrorist.
So, at this point, when I hear an absurd detail like “explosives on rc cars to give to kids” I wonder how much of this was just some vulnerable loser who’s been ensared by people trying to justify their budgets.
No one is arguing this guy isn't a bad person (assuming he is indeed completely in control of his actions), but the point of reporting these "foiled plots" is to demonstrate to people that
1. The FBI is protecting us,
2. Terrorism on US soil is a common and real threat.
The fake stings actually demonstrate that these two things are not actually true. This guy could not have done what he was saying he was going to do. He had no method of doing it and anything he was able to do he could only do because of the FBI themselves gave him the means to do it.

An attack in Garland, Texas at a Draw Muhammad contest had an FBI undercover agent following the perpetrators (filming it). They shot a security guard (who lived) and the agent drove away. The FBI claims they had no prior knowledge of the attack.

His plot sounds like a bit of a stretch if he was acting solo. Explosives like that are *hard* to come by these days for this very reason, the Feds are on you before you can blink.
If he was serious about this then he certainly needs to be put away, but the nature of the plans and the fact that he was talking to informants about them makes me feel like he was just shooting his mouth off (although I don't fault the FBI for taking it seriously).

This is not a partisan thing. I wish y'all would stop this mindset. Check out the links I provided above. This was happening a ton during Obama's administration as well. This didn't just start with Trump. Many things bad in the country didn't just start with Trump, you're just being made aware of it now that he's in office.

We know there are guys trying to attack America. Of all the countries this one is on the top of their list. There is no evidence that this is something that happens and as you can see by this very story, the FBI has no problem running to the press when they do catch someone.
I mean, it's possible that the FBI do press releases only when they catch clowns like this or the Oregon Christmas Tree bomber, but secretly they catch a ton of real would be terrorists who are then tried in secret courts and sent to secret prisons without anyone noticing. It's hard to prove a negative, but that's conspiracy level logic.
