An 80 RT score would be pretty good all things considered. You have a bunch of characters, each group with their own story, and everything has to be tied up in a limited time. On paper, it's a mess.

I'm intrigued by the praising of the ending. I'm hoping it does end with

Thanos snapping his finger

Sounds amazing. What’s requisite viewing to enjoy this? Still haven’t seen T:R or BP but otherwise am all caught up.

Might be rough on BP unless you still have a theater around you playing it (and you might -- and should if you can) but definitely watch Ragnarok.

Aside from being a blast, it leads directly into Infinity War. And I mean directly.

I have only one expectation from this film. The death of a few major characters. We'll see how daring Marvel is.

Has anyone said anything about quips in this one? I really don't wanna hear something like "RIGHT IN THE INFINITY STONES" in a cinema.
ha ha, I wanna hear them said that joke now

Anyway, sounds like the usual baggage that comes with comic crossover/events... but now in film form
Dunno how mainstream audiences will respond, could be with maximum hype or repulsion itself.

Right? It’s usually a good dose of hyperbole, followed by an awkward whiplash of “DEFINITLEY in my top 5 MCU films at lease”.
Well the quality of the MCU as a whole has been increasing over the past decade so it shouldnt be surprising that newer films keep supplanting the old ones.

But the trailers show that a big chunk of the film takes place in Wakanda. Plus BP is a much better film than Ragnarok imo
seems like the ending of Ragnarok directly leads into the beginning of this movie. Black Panther is good for building familiarity with Wakanda and some of the characters there that will appear here (Okoye, Shuri) but I don't think it'll carry the same kind of plot background into this movie that Ragnarok does.

Sounds like my boy Thor finally gets his day in the Sun in an ensemble movie. Been a die hard Thor fan from comics and I loved that they finally gave him a fantastic film with Ragnarok. I'm really interested though what his character is like. Did they keep the tonal shift that Ragnarok introduced or is he back to being a bit more stoic like all the previous films? I know the Russo's said they collaborated with Waititi while he was filming Ragnarok and Chris Hemsworth told them he wanted them to not revert him back to what he as before but it will be interesting to see how he's approached. Also more than relieved to hear a lot of impressions say that Thanos really is the star of the show and it wasn't just PR talk that he was going to be well developed and the main character.

I’d say Wakanda’s peculiar geopolitical situation also counts. I know it’s touched on in AoU and CW, but it’s never really fleshed out until BP. I can’t imagine this won’t have a role to play in IW.

But yeah, both movies seem pretty important tbh.

I think I was a bit misunderstood in my original post. My point is, i feel like I’m reading a breathtakingly great review, followed by “yeah, somewhere in my top 5 MCU films.”

If you’re creaming nuts for a film that hard, I tend to think you’re going to place it over Guardians of the Galaxy and Winter Soldier. That’s why it comes across as awkward to me.

But hey, I’m just pontificating on the delivery or someone else’s opinion, so whayever

It boils down to: do you really like these movies, or nah?

Because it’s entirely valid to think Winter Solider is the best MCU movie, and it’s more measured and believable for people to hesitate to rank a brand new film against ones they’ve watched a half dozen times over the years.

I don’t understand why people who are lukewarm on these films keep expecting it to be possible that a new one will finally be the one they truly love. These movies are extremely well liked as is. If they miss the mark for you, then sure, but someone who likes the MCU probably *loves* GOTG or Winter Solider and no matter how good a movie seems at first viewing they aren’t going to unambiguously state that the new film is the best one.

Other then the credits scene (or was it the final shot?) What plot from Thor would really matter in this?

Between Thor and BP, I think that both are good but Thor: Ragnarok is going to be spoiled in a much bigger way by IW than BP would.

I actually think it’s quite fair to follow along the MCU, generally enjoying the films, while continuinally hoping for them to improve until reaching critical peaks quality. I’ve really liked all the MCU movies. I think they have continuously improved in quality, when going phase by phase. I think it’s possible that the next one they release could be extra special.

Ok yeah, I agree there, I just know for me personally I really love Evans as Cap and even if Infinity War delivers big on what I want it to deliver on, I’ll be surprised if I’m not hesitant to put it over Winter Solider or even Civil War.

I also feel like Phase Three has been vastly better overall than the previous two phases, so if they can keep churning them out at this quality level where even the most pedestrian result is as good as Doctor Strange, they’re still working magic when on paper they shouldn’t be able to have a string of five movies in a row like GotG2 thru IW (assuming impressions hold up)
