It's a TON of grind for what? Anime girls without personality.
It's basically Kancolle/Touken Ranbu/Whatever other "crafting" style mobage is out there but with gameplay.

That's what these games are. That's what most gacha is. Glorified idle games with nice art that you half pay attention to while watching Netflix.

True enough. I guess my problem here is that the UI is just painful. I'm sure I can get used to it but it's a bit of a mess.

Gte to lvl 10 as soon as possible and unlock dailies. Also, you can auto about the first 2 worlds, but you'll regret it if you try to auto the daily missions. The torpedo one will tear you to bits, even at lvl 10. You wont be able to auto the later stages like 3-2 until you have lvl 40-50 ships.

The vast majority of leveling you'll do when you aren't playing is done in the dorm. Basically just set a few ships, feed them cola and wait 12 hours.

This is why you absolutely want to unlock as many slots in your dorm as soon as possible. Use those gems!

You'd be surprised. I'm pretty much F2P when it comes to gacha games, the only time I spend are for guaranteed pulls (such as in FGO) or monthly bundles that don't cost much (Alchemist Pack in Alchemist Code, Premium Happy Box in Bang Dream, etc.).

BTW, I found a tier list on Reddit:

https://i.redd.it/usba1wr6o0211.png

Surprisingly, both Unicorn and Helena who I pulled earlier today are top tier, despite only being Elite rarity. Cool to see.

Also, Unicorn. To answer your question, you can absolutely call me "Oniichan" if you want. No complaints there.

Which way you read that graph? I mean my first Super Rare I made is Aircraft Carrier Enterprise which seems to be T0 (Left one of those 2, the lady with cap).
So either it is superb good or superb bad :D.

Takao's the only decent get I've gotten so far...trying to save 20k Merit so I can purchase Eldridge (who is lower on tier, but high in cuteness)

My ships are only in the 20. How do level up faster?

I've just been repeating 1-4 while keeping as much of my main fleet in the dorm (for passive exp gain) as possible. Make sure to refill the food reserves by pressing the plus button. The cheaper food only costs oil, so I just get those. The premium cost gems that are more valuable, so I skip buying that kind of food for now.

I am doing 2-1 since it drop some nice elite ship, but so slow

Welp, woke up to Illustrious and Unicorn after not getting anything good yesterday. I suspected that one of the ships I had under construction would be good since it was going to take 4 hours to complete, but I didn't expect two good ships (since before that the best I'd gotten were a couple Suffolks and Shropshires). That was a nice surprise, especially since Illustrious was what I was aiming for. I suppose the game has earned staying installed a while longer, but it definitely doesn't seem like the sort of thing that will ever compel me to spend money.

I agree with the UI comments especially compared to Girl's Frontline which seems a lot tighter designed, particularly in the Logistics (Commissions) department.

Still, it's a nice alternative while there isn't much new content in GFL to play. That said, all of you are welcome to join our Discord where we made a few dedicated channels (linked in the OP of this thread).

As an aside, the game throws so many drills at you, there's really no reason not to use them every time. You'll get way more drills than you do cubes and even then if you do the heavy or special crafts, you'll be using two cubes for every one drill.

The exception I guess would be if you whale for more cubes, you could run out of drills, but if you're whale enough for one you're whale enough for the other right?

I suspected that already and considered speeding up construction, but since I only started right before I was going to bed I decided that there wouldn't be any point.

Sorry for the delay, but it seems it's already been answered, haha. Yes, T0 is the best and you work your way down. Congrats on the pull!

I did a few builds today, and managed a second Unicorn (will be useful for my second team) as well as Illustrious! It's kind of funny getting them both back-to-back since they're kind of a pair. Not a bad start.

Is there a list of ships I should be using? I don't see an easy to navigate tier list or any list of good ships for F2P atm.

ch2 is getting kinda tough, especially having to manage 2 teams. The wiki guide says, gear is important... whats the best way to grind gear?

game also runs... kinda bad on android at least? 30fps cap, while some menus just freeze for a second. My note 8 should be powerful enough for this...

Still not really sure what dorms is for... is it basically the nursery in pokemon?

This is like impossible to read. I cant even tell the rarities.
Rarities don't really matter, as a lot of the lower ones (Elite) can be just as useful as the Super Rare ones (like Unicorn).

But yeah, it'd be nice if I could find a textual breakdown out of the different rarities. :/

Dorms are basically a place where you can train ships without needing to play, by making sure they have food. Not only that, but those currently in there will earn bonus EXP when you take them out on missions. It's why you should make the priority for gem-spending unlocking as many slots of them as quickly as possible, as it allows you to continually train units while off sleeping or whatever. Just make sure they're loaded up with food before you do.

Well, I like to know the initial rarities so I can find these ships easier. It's hard to look at the art of my ships and see "hmmm let's see on this ginormous picture where my ships are and they fall in." it's just hard to sift through this.

No, it's frustrating, I agree. At least in-game you can tell a rarity by the color of its background (white/silver is common, blue is rare, purple is elite, and gold is super rare). Unfortunately with the tier list I linked, and it can be confusing when some of them are being shown with their alternate skins (like with Laffey).

It's early, I'm sure someone will do up an English tier list soon enough, once we know what characters are actually in the game. Until then, I guess we'll just struggle a bit finding everything out. If you want to make a general assumption on who to train, I'd go with characters with gold, purple, blue, and then white (in that order).

A lot of those boats aren't going to be in the game for quite a while. And yeah, rarity doesn't usually mean much, except how hard they are to get.

Anyways, some of the good ones to raise would be all the starter boats for their eventual retrofits. Pretty much best in class. Laffey and Ayanami especially. But that is quite a ways off.

Enterprise is the best solo carrier with her skill that grants double damage and 100% evade. She will destroy the enemy with ease. Can be somewhat trolly in pvp due to that evade.

In terms of boss drops, Akagi and Kaga make for the most devastating carrier combo in the game.
(.75% drop rate for both though, have fun with that)
Since their skills boost their airpower when together. Also, they get to have their first launch ready 50% faster than everyone else. So that can ruin someone's day in pvp.

Illustrious is up there for sustain when doing higher level maps as she grants a shield to the escort fleet(the one you control directly) based on her hp whenever she launches her planes. Which can help a lot if you find yourself dying a lot.

Unicorn is your best light carrier support forever and ever. Also adorable. She heals your fleet whenever she launches her planes. She also grants a passive reload buff to your escort fleet. Reload affects how often your boats shoot.
Shouhou would be her IJN counterpart. These two are the only boats that can heal at the moment in the game. (Well, Vestal can too, but it is HoT)

Hood is like the strongest BC at this point. Since her barrage is absurd and if it procs, everyone reload faster.

Portland is one of the strongest Heavy Cruisers period by virtue of her statline and being a gunboat. (She can outclass SSRs like Takao and Atago yes...since they are torpedo boats) Even more so with her retrofit.

On a similar note, Cleveland is good for the same reason as a light cruiser.
Helena is great for granting like 40% extra damage for 10 secs due to her skill.

There's still more, but that should be enough for now. Also, San Diego is a meme.

Sidenote, your movement speed is based on how heavy your fleet is. So a destroyer only fleet would certainly move faster than a heavy cruiser fleet. The Beaver emblem is an aux equip that speeds up movement, but that is from completing the Little Beaver collection. (Hint hint raise them)

man, its been years since i played many virtual stick mobile games... this really hurts my thumb after a while. Wish it supported 1:1 movement like other bullethell games, so then I can just use a stylus.

Is the only way to limit break is from dupes? The in game tutorial is confusing... I have a few of those units in from the help, but I could only LB 1 ship with it?

Yes, duplicates or those materials you're talking about are the only ways to limit break them. I wouldn't worry about it early on, as the higher LB they are the more oil they cost to run. Just work on leveling them your core team(s) up, and LB'ing the common/rare drops from story mode with the copies you get. I've heard the LB material cards aren't TOO rare, but I still wouldn't use them yet, unless you're absolutely sure it's going to be a character you'll be running for a long time.

Yesterday I was desperate for coins but always had enough cubes. Today I've been very short on cubes, so I'm actually close to overflowing on coins. But one of the pulls I managed to make ended up in a second Unicorn, so that was nice.

Congrats on the Unicorn!

I just noticed if you tap and drag your finger on the home screen, the girl you have set there will follow your finger.

Adorable.

Is there a good compositions of ships I should be focusing on? I see the icons of planes and missiles and stuff but I can't seem to figure out what is the best composition for farming and stuff.

How involved is this game? There are plenty of timer stuff, but, i feel like fgo will be my priority once events start again...

Like i'm always at max oil atm, and i feel like i'm at the point where my squad can't really easily autobattle the missions.

Is there any good stuff to dump your oil down the drain before the end of the day, besides the 8 hr mission?

You can try buying a bunch of the curry with your oil if you need to burn some. It's 50 oil per food, and fills your supply bar as well as gives you an EXP bonus in battle.

If your reserves are going to hit max overnight, than you can turn some oil into food for the dorms.

The oil flows like water at the beginning of the game, when all fleets are cheap and maps require fewer battles to complete. Even at the point in the game I'm at it's pretty generous, but it definitely doesn't stay that way.

where do you buy food?

nvm found it.

Is gems hard to come by? Looking at the paid currency stuff and thinking... what to drop cash on because of that 2x bonus first purchase. Maybe I should just go for the $1 for the first buy bonus...
