Garbage cinematography. Wooden acting. Atrocious scripts. Effects that were dated, even for their time. They're objectively bad, and yet, they have a certain charm. You might say they're

Welcome to the Bad Movies OT! This isn't for movies like
Someone was going to take the low hanging fruit, we all know it
, it's for those movies that either think they're legitimately good (The Room, Birdemic) or in on the joke (anything by the Asylum, Birdemic 2). If a movie is currently airing in theaters, and it's clearly destined to be so bad It's good, please keep discussion to its respective OT for the time being, and bring it over here later.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss your favorite bad movies! Introduce us to your favorite bad movies. Revisit ones you haven't seen in awhile. Post your impressions, your reviews, clips of your favorite scenes! If you're planning on just listing titles without any commentary, well...

We do a monthly movie night! Join us on the last Friday of the month (usually), at 8:30 EST! Link to the room will be posted at approximately 8 pm. Everyone is welcome

Ooooh getting drunk and watching bad movies is one of my favorite things. How did you know the key to my starchy soul so quickly?

I'll give any bad movie a shot. Some are serious yet so poorly done it makes great comedy; some put me right to sleep; others make me cringe. Definitely more fun to watch in groups.

I think my favorite good bad movie is Zombeavers. Just ridiculous and over the top, yet genuinely funny.

Bigfoot vs. D.B. Cooper was so, so terrible. It seemed like the director basically wanted to make softcore porn, with long shots of guys getting undressed, flexing in the mirror, and posing. And, endlessly shirtless through the entire flick.

I'll post more as I think of them, but half the time I pass out halfway through and forget what the title was :D

I'd love to watch Samurai Cop one day. I heard the sequel was horrible and not in a good way

I watched a few with Potater and others, like the above Zombeavers and Bigfoot vs DB Cooper (which almost hardly qualifies as either a film or manly sexyservice)

Obviously The Room. The upcoming Disaster Artist movie will be amazing as well.

Spiderman 3 so good. Also had fun with Highlander with friends.

I've watched neither, to my shame, but both are in my backlog!
Would highly recommend watching Manos in a group. It's a reeeaaaalllllyyy slow burn despite being such a short movie and it helps getting a group to laugh with it.

If you ever want to try and kill your liver watch it and take a shot whenever a Moth flies into frame. You'll be dead before the halfway point. :p

I'll probably avoid suicide by moth, but I appreciate the advice. Thanks!

Have any of you seen a movie called Torque by the way? It's been recommended to me but I haven't had a chance yet to watch it.

Definitely.

If you need any more reason to watch it: the Director ( who also wrote the script and starred in the movie ) was a fertilizer salesman who made the movie because of a bet.

Also in my backlog. Hoping this thread helps clear it out a bit. If all goes well, I'm hoping we can do weekly/biweekly movie screenings

Professor Nugent and his students try to track down Bigfoot, but end up uncovering something more sinister at work. Hilarity ensues.

Samurai Cop is by far my favorite bad movie. Ive seen it a hundred times and its still hilarious.

Samurai Cop 2 is just bad bad. It has a few good moments but most of it is just a complete mess. The plot makes absolutely no sense. Its got this weird sci fi theme thats completely out of place. Its just awful. I went to it here in NYC when they did a premiere tour thing. Matt Karedas and Melissa Moore were there too. After the movie they did a Q&A thing and it was funny that even Karedas had no idea what the plot was completely about. Lol

Torque was that movie that tried to pursuit the Fast and Furious fame. But with bikes! It was very popular at the time. At that time, me and my friend didnt get how shitty it was until very late.

From what I can tell you should all enjoy this interview with the Samurai Cop himself. If you don't know Red Letter Media they literally have a best worst movie series that's great.

Is Kung Pow: Enter the Fist too self-aware for this thread? It's my favorite quotable movie.

My finger points.

I know both of these films are cheesy, especially the second, but I love the Mortal Kombat movies. They're just so fun to watch. I loved how they tried to expand on more characters and stuff in the 2nd film, but the animality scene ruined it lmao.

Would the Wayan's movies count? The acting in those are terrible, but I love Scary Movie, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, and Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.

Anyone who enjoys this genre of "good bad" movies owes it to themselves to check out the glorious works of Neil Breen.

Double Downfeatures Neil Breen as the most important and talented hacker/government spy in the world. He's in the desert a lot.

I Am Here ... Now features Neil Breen as God, and he is not happy with humanity. He is also in the desert a lot.

Fateful Findingsis a domestic drama with a supernatural twist. Neil plays a normal writer who also happens to be a former spy/hacker. Slightly less desert.

Pass Thru features Neil Breen as an all knowing AI with supernatural power (see above: God) and he is once again not happy with humanity.

All four movies are distinct yet connected in odd ways. Neil has a unique storytelling style that borderlines on absurdism at times, but each film wraps up nicely with a very... let's say definitive ending.

Watched The Mermaid with 1000 Needles last night, and wow! It was so damn funny. Just corny and ridiculous.

That's an extensive drinking game list. Definitely bookmarking that.

I love that movie so much. It definitely qualifies here, despite the self-awareness.

Ha, I love those movies too. I only saw I'm Gonna Git You Sucka once, but I've watched Scary Movie and Don't be a Menace an embarrassing amount of times...

Got my gf to watch Don't Be a Menace and she was not at all entertained. I'm sitting there quoting my favorite parts while she's just scrolling through FB.

I'm not going to judge anyone's suggestions but there's been movies, usually comedies, mentioned that have made them laugh and had a good time. I'm not sure what makes them think it's a bad/good movie. 2 examples The Mermaid is pure Stephen Chow. Ott, ridiculous situations. Cartoon in film form. Kung Pow is a parody of crap old Kung Fu movies and a technical marvel as well as a cult comedy favourite. I think the key word to remember for bad/good is 'unintentional'.

For example Ed Wood always felt he was making great films. Tommy was trying his hardest with The Room, despite what he might say after the fact.

I guess I'd just like some OP ground rules. Sorry to sound like a Nazi. Much love.
