Baker claims religious persecution again — this time after denying cake for transgender woman

60 or 70 years ago this baker would be refusing to sell his cakes to black people on “religious grounds”. What a load of horse shit this guy’s thinly veiled bigotry is.

Why would anyone go to this Baker considering his views? Just keep away and find someone else.

Because people falsely believe that the Baker's SCOTUS decision permitted religious discrimination. Who better to take to the Supreme Court to force an actual ruling?

Why in the fuck do people still give this asshat any business at all?

The person that asked for the cake was a lawyer so the only conclusion I can come to is that the person requesting the cake wanted this to happen. Still wrong but wouldn't it be better to not give this asshole baker any publicity at all and reduce his business to only making cakes for the Sunday church crowd?

Aside from purposefully sticking it to this guy, I wouldn’t be surprised if her ultimate goal was to get the SC to rule on transgender equality since that doesn’t exist nationally.

I'm REALLY not sure this is a gamble I want to take with the current court... But maybe the gears were moving when it was assumed Kennedy would still be around?

So back to this then?

But it’s not, and I think it’s dumb to equate the two. It would be one thing if the entire state was refusing to bake people cakes but in both of these cases this baker was sought out because of his refusal.

Somewhere deep in space
Saying that being a man or a woman and having your genitals match is god given is literally just made up. Nothing fucking says that. It's bad enough that the decision basically makes the word of the Bible applicable law for some people, now they're just going to get to make up shit.
lol it's almost like it's a book written by some dudes in a desert 2,000 years ago who didn't know jack about modern science

Fun fact: Iran, of all places, recognizes transgender people and allows them to live as their gender identity and marry legally. It was considered permissible by Iranian islamic scholars decades ago.

If people want to say the 1st Amendment explicitly guarantees a right to freedom of religion, so the discrimination here is justified. I’d like to point out that you’re not just you at work, you’re also a representative of a business (a place of public accommodation) which legally cannot discriminate against members of the public who are protected classes. If a business offers a service to one member of the public, then that business has to offer that service to every member of the public who are protected classes equally. That legal baggage is a part of the deal that comes with doing business in this country (just like business taxes, minimum wage, workers’ compensation, etc.), and you choose to take on that baggage when you become a representative of a business.

I probably wouldn't even want a cake from this asshole at this point .. Who knows what the fuck he puts in it when he knows you are gay or transgender.

Why would the individual think that he'd bake the cake to begin with ? Are there no other bakeries in that area?

This is what happens when people vote third party for president, or stay home because they are a bunch of idiots who believe Russian and GOP smear campaigns.

The bigots are emboldened.

Let's all shut them down by voting for (D) candidates regardless of purity tests and smears.

There's nothing in the Bible about being trans, so this guy is twice the prick he was before. But then why would I be shocked a conservative hasn't actually read the book they care so much about.
