How would Jayblac know? Who tells their friends about that?

He got jammed up in November around the time he went on hiatus from champion for "personal stuff". It's completely speculative but I personally feel he knew something regarding his friends situation, at least his actual cause of death. If he knew it wasn't just he died in his sleep as they were saying and they got a couple thousand out of fans to bury a man with ten counts of sexual misconduct towards a minor who couldn't face the music then he is accountable for that.

It's possible he was played just like us. But you can't be that close to someone and they actually get charged and no one knows about it. He went full private investigator to expose Vada Fly. An arrest involving child porn can't be hidden like that. And I'm basing that off of a child porn incident happening in my small hometown with a former teacher that was reported throughout the state.

Ayo, this last Resolution trailer is fire. The supercut of battle rappers getting mad at Smack had me hyped, IDK even know why because Magic/Hitman/etc. never ended up on the card.. BUT... Yung Ill vs. Brizz Rawsteen?! FIIRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE match-up.

Admittedly, I want to give Blac the benefit of the doubt, but, I think the most likely scenario is that when Tech 9 took time off, he was just like yo Blac I gotta handle some shit. When you have a friend that you trust, you don't really ask too many questions after that and respect their personal issues. It does get increasingly sketchy if Blac knew the cause of death (which is still not public as far as I know?) or if he knew about the specifics of Tech's cases or whomever is organizing the donations knew about his cases. I don't think that's something Blac would effortfully investigate like Vada Fly who was coming at him (how does that dude still have a following, anyways? SMH), because that mutual understanding is already there.

That said, it's not a good look for Champion or Jayblac regardless. It's gonna be weird for a while, but I'm looking forward to involved parties making blogs about this.

It's a real damn shame for the whole damn battle rap community. I can already hear the Tech 9 bars in future battles coming.

Yeah, people keep bringing up Vada Fly but Tech wasn't giving reasons for Blac to doubt him. As you said, he most likely wasn't told what it was. Even if it was a case, why you going to investigate it? People only think he should because it's this, if it was anything else they'd wonder why Blac is all in Tech's business.

This was found out by some clout chasing ass niggas, let's not forget.

Shit is crazy! Dont even know what to say!

And yes...Jakk did get a Tech 9 Tattoo on his neck smh! To be fair, he did it before he knew about the charges etc but wow....may as well quit battle rap now or cover that shit up asap!

Also, URL have pulled most of the Tech 9 battles from their channels which speaks volumes...
And at Born Legacy 6, Mike P apparently had a 3rd Round dedicated to Tech...yikes...

Very shady too with the Gofundme etc....He was reported to have died in his sleep but now peeps are saying he was found outside! I'm sure more will come to light in the coming days.

Just a terrible situation all round tbh...

Smack/URL really work to persevere through any and all controversy they come across.

I forgot, they had the gofundme giving him ALOT of money. Wasn't it almost 30k? Yeah I was thinking about all the people that did dedications to Tech and I remembered hearing about Mike's 3rd round.....yikes. Damn, that is going to be an interesting drop. Obviously we don't know these people personally, but I want to believe and don't think Jayblac knew anything. I seriously doubt Tech would've told him or anyone. Dude has to be going through it. He has made waves in the culture and grown his platform to new heights with this man. I imagine he's not going to say anything until he has all the facts.

Illmac VS. B Magic
Geechi VS. Head ICE
Ill Will VS. Pass
Rum Nitty VS. Bigg K

Blac firing on all cylinders. He's not wrong, people are thirsty for the conspiracy theories.

People tryna put people's heads on a stake out of ignorance AND while those people are grieving. If people like Battletruth are tryna come up off of Jayblac's name in this crazy time, they should be ashamed. And I've no doubt that's what they're trying to do. The Vada Flys of the world that have no internal ethic. Same reason why I stopped watching Angryfan a year or so ago. Just shitstarters who are looking for controversy or creating it to get views. I like how Blac doesn't give them dignity by naming them either.

Right and sadly I feel bad for dragging the man as well. Not dragging but expecting more than what was the reality, he knew a personality not the man. He's strong for coming out and saying something. He didn't have to but he did. Now someone should get battle goof the fuck out of here

Ain't just you, everyone, including me on the previous page, was speculating as to whether Blac knew. That's the question on everyone's minds when something shocking like this happens. That's different from dragging, though, which is what I presume the haters on Twitter are doing and what Blac is reacting to; jumping to conclusions without doing the due diligence or speculating as to why someone wouldn't clear their own name while they're grieving. The Internet moves too fast for that.

This battle is super fire! 2-1 either way, I think I edge A Ward though. FIRE!

Fiiiiiiiiiire battle. I feel like every round, A. Ward spit and I was like GODDAMN he's got this round in the bag, and Charron just did more, except in the third, or maybe it's just recency bias. 2-1 Charron for me. Goddamn there are some crazy religion bars in this.

That separate men from the boys bar is HARD

It was, but i've heard too many of Charron's bars elsewhere. Lessened the impact of some of his material to me.

RBE: Brizz Rawsteen vs. Loso.

This is one of the biggest bodybags in years. This is BAD for Loso. If we all didn't know Loso could do better, this'd be a career ender. Even still, I still think this is going to hurt his stock. He walked into Chef Trez and Brizz back-to-back for some of their wildest performances.

That man said The Bible's a classic.. but it's no Illmatic

Early bar of the year contender

EDIT: I've watched this like 6 times now and it gets uglier every single time. I know there's gas, but it's well deserved. Brizz went Super Saiyan.

I honestly didn't think it was that bad...but I get why everyone thinks so. Loso definitely lost though, Brizz's performance was on ten.

The energy in this battle is off, but there is some really great material. "I ain't never put nothin overseas" " I unload fast as a marine, I'm so focused.. empty out then add (ad) in a magazine in a pro motion" "Trap fulla German chops in case S.W.A.T. stick us (Swastikas)" . Nitty had some crazy material, but Gotti's 1st and 3rd were ridiculous. "Slipper Glass (Cinderella shoes)" "Bow, There go that 3rd round Surf was missing" "Potato on the barrel, hashtagged" His best writing by far, to me. Thank god for the comments, there is so much quotable material.

Resolution link. Part-way through Top vs. Nitty. Venue looks fire. Trez/Suge and Brizz/Ill already happened.

Hidden content
You need to reply to this thread in order to see this content.

EDIT: I didn't see the whole battle, and it seemed like Rum was doing better overall, but damn, Top's 3rd heated up as it went on and that closer, GOD DAMN.

EDIT2: I think I got Twork 2-0, didn't see the third. Shine 2-1, kinda meh battle, though it had it's moments.

Cassidy started off okay, but man, he couldn't keep it up. You can tell he's new to this shit, he started getting mad at the crowd when he started spitting cheesy bar after cheesy bar. I still edge him in the first but Goodz with a clear 2-1 or 3-0 depending on what you prefered in the first round IMO.

The event was trash.

Rum Nitty is the best in URL right now.

Cassidy had a great intro and died like Apollo.
His flow is so dated. He had stuff in there but his style had no room to let the lines breathe.

Top had the line that made everyone go oooooh with the self checkout line. Got that same feeling when jack had the slavery was a choice line.

Trez cooked

Twork doesn't even be saying shit at this point. His ballyhoo just distorts his opponents ability to sound good next to him. Clips beat him tho. JJDD did not.

Bring on Lux vs Verb so I can feel again. Or a new Jey the Nitewing verse

NOME 9 Full Card:

Loaded Lux vs. Aye Verb
Tsu Surf vs. Geechi Gotti
John John Da Don vs. Jakkboy Maine
Shotgun Suge vs. Pat Stay
Ave vs. Arsonal
K-Shine vs. Rum Nitty

Goddamn this has to be the highest budget for a card ever.

Predictions? I got Lux 2-1, Geechi Gotti 3-0, John John Da Don 3-0, Pat Stay 2-1 (debatable), Arsonal 2-1, and Nitty 2-1 (debatable).

RBE: Ill Will vs. Scotty.

I enjoyed this, nothing too crazy but entertaining. Debatable either way for me, maybe edging 2-1 to Will.

Caught Hitman Holla vs. Bill Collector.

Clean 3-0 for Hitman IMO. Bill was entertaining, but inconsistent overall. Bill is a unique voice in battle rap but sometimes I'm like wtf is this random shit he's talking about now. Good battle, waaaaaay better than Hitman vs. Suge was, somehow. Hitman was wildin in the third, no way Bill could've come back from that.

I had Bill 2-1. Material wise, probably some of Hitman's best written rounds though. Bill's first two rounds, had way more substance for me.

URL PGs: Sosa vs. Quis.

A LOT of gas, which I think is partially just due to the mic setup (and also that these west coast PGs always overly react to their own talent, worse than anything in NY/NWX), but I thought there was a lot of unique material in here, especially from Sosa. I got Sosa edging it 3-0. Quis went up and down in energy and it was kinda weird, but Sosa was just more consistent throughout.

EDIT: Not a battle, but Quban in this episode of CHAMPION is talking that shit about Don Marino and also URL's favouritism. I don't even think I remember watching a Quban battle before but I'm already ready to see him body Don Marino based off of this premium quality shit talk alone.

How do y'all feel about the URLTV app?

IMO it's wayyyyyyyyyyyy too little content for what they're charging, especially for content that was given to us for free before AND will end up on YouTube (for the most part) regardless. IDK how they think they can get away with those prices with other video subscriptions being so close in price with multiple times more content.

Also.. I don't know how battle rap grows or works to being more mainstream/economically sustainable if the videos aren't dropping for free on YouTube.

They should've pivoted to merch (like KOTD) or something else. I don't like this as a value proposition or even as a direction for battle rap to go.

Too me I would of easily paid 20 if it was every battle ever and access to ppvs. I'm ordering lux verb. I need to see that battle. I can't think of anything I NEED to see on that app besides maybe ace Amin and bucs. And that's for Ace Amin. It's a novel idea, and seems a little more than slapped together, but it could of been more.

I haven't got the app just yet but I feel what you guys are saying...

Content is my main issue...Understandably, the app only just dropped but with Netflix, Hulu etc, there's so much more choice. Also a lot of the battles that I want to see, I'll most likely have seen them on PPV anyway by the time they get to the app.

If I don't check for Jey The Nightwing or Don Marino's battles now, which are freely available on YouTube, I'm not going to pay to see their unreleased battles am I. Problem is, URL hasn't given me a reason to care for these battlers and their battles because their recent ones never dropped on YouTube in the 1st place like how Swamp/Ace Amin etc did.

And I dont see how this helps promote growth or raise PG battlers stock etc. Before it was just as simple as a YouTube link but now, if I wanna promote my battle I gotta tell people to pay for an app...makes no sense really and is limiting to growth as a whole.

I hope the app works out for them and that the add exclusive stuff that make it worth it (interviews, cyhpers etc)...but don't be surprised if we get a few more 3 day Banned Legacy events in the near future of battlers you don't know or care about, to fill out the app content....

Didn't even think about it for promotion, but yeah, promotion is definitely an issue too. Jayblac just asked Smack/Beasley on today's CHAMPION's and they vaguely said they'll be creating certain content to promote people like before on YouTube.

At worst, they should've delayed launching it until AT LEAST all of the back catalog was on the app too to take advantage of its features.

I want them to grow too, and would pay for some premium service when I have the income to justify it just to show love and support for everything URL has done, but it needs a lot more to justify being *something* I pay for, before I even think about the price they're asking. Their messaging is a bit unclear about how/when things are dropping, and the site could at least use a chart showing what's for free and what drops where, etc. This is one of those (many) times where just a little bit clearer messaging could go a very long way.

Pricing wise, I think a season pass like (I think?) KOTD does would be cool too, but just more aggressive pricing in general. Even comparatively, the URL app is costing about as much as a Disney+ sub. It just doesn't feel like the sweet spot but maybe someone actually did the numbers on it and felt they could squeeze more out of less subs, but I fear this will hurt them in the long run, especially if, as hinted, not every battle will end up on YouTube ever.

I don't want to sound too negative, this sort of thing is dope, and I think adding features like voting on rounds and some cool data stuff surrounding how people interact with the battle are the way to go. Imagine bookmarking your favourite bars, etc. I'm just focused on growth, so I think exclusive media content would be dope since I had always hoped the SMACK/HBO thing would end up happening one day and it never did.

Exclusive/vaulted battles are probably the biggest selling points. The Yung Ill vs. Conceited, Rone vs. Danja Zone, all of Cortez' bodies. Hell, I think I'd pay just to see Rone vs. Danja Zone. They said on today's CHAMPION that they're working on Yung Ill vs. Conceited because they're negotiating with one of those two. Beasley also said they're going to have content from other leagues.. hmmm.. I'd love for them to get the rights to the King Juce or Battle America battles.

Yeah, I understand this is a major outing and a big first for them, but they should've come out the gate with a load of content and access to the PPV's for a higher subscription fee. Especially with NOME 9 coming up. The app in itself is fine idea. I think it makes sense, leveraging their brand and their content. Obviously, Youtube is essential and they can't afford to leave that behind (anytime soon anyways). I think the app will make it harder to market some new talent. I think there is a risk of their competition being able to become more relevant in their place, with their Youtube presence weakening. I don't mind it....but it definitely didn't come as prepared or fully developed as it could've been. Will just have to see how it develops. We're gonna see how valuable their brand really is.

RBE: Mr. Mill$ vs. B Magic.

Nothing too crazy but an enjoyable, low-stakes, casual-feeling battle.
Something I touched on real briefly above but wanna ask you directly. Youtube has honestly played such a huge part in battlerap growing as a culture (and URL by extension). Do you think URL is going to lose any clout competing with other leagues, that are dropping content regularly on YT, when URL content is confined to an app for the most part?

The talent is obviously the most important part, if the app confines the ability of new people to get seen, and the leagues are able to book matchups people want to see, I feel like most are just going to go elsewhere, while it's free. Things are quiet now, because URL is having a major event...but once the next KOTD and RBE events happen and they start dropping battles, it's gonna look real quiet and sparse over on the URL side.

Then they drop this.....

I think they will definitely lose favour with fans. I don't see RBE or someone like them overtaking URL, because the battles are just different on URL and that will forever be the case. RBE has been successfully soliciting incredible match-ups but the feel and quality of the battles just isn't up to par, but they are indeed a biggest threat to URL because even if the battles are not as great, battlers want to be on that platform. KOTD's Town Bidness card seemed fire and they're back on the up and up, but they are terrible at developing new talent and consistently creating great match-ups.

The whole thing is contingent upon whether everything EVENTUALLY ends up on YouTube or not. I 100 % agree with you, YouTube is essential. They're marketing for this is confusing, because they seeeeeeeeeeem to be alluding that not everything will drop on YouTube, but with stuff like Rum Nitty vs. Twork coming out relatively quick, who knows? Apparently Chilla vs. Steams dropped today.. you know how damn long I've been waiting for Chilla to come back and tear up URL? The uncertainty around whether such a battle will or will not make its way to YouTube is bad for both the YouTube consumer, and the app subscriber - neither know what exactly they're getting for free or paying for advance access to. That AND they have to pay more for PPV? C'mon URL.. this is not a good value proposition unless you're ardent on supporting black businesses and have a lot of disposable income.

Without YouTube, there is no growth in the number of battle rap fans, and that's the most important thing. URL seems like the smallest company with the smaller viewerbase ever to create a premium subscription app that is completely divorced from the medium that all of its fans are on. They think they're WWE and UFC and love those comparisons but.. they're not. That base needs to be far more established to pull this power move. Without all of that.. and with people stopping checking for URL battles so much that the channel turns into KOTD in terms of activity... who cares what any of the new talent is because they'll never see them again OR see the established fan favourites?

I also agree the app is half-baked. Not enough content, charging people while still pleading for them to wait until they get their shit together, etc. Beasley said they'd still use YouTube to push the people they want to push, so my thinking is that they might throw all the PGs and rookie battles onto YouTube, but some of the sophomore (i.e. Born Legacy, Rookies vs. Vets)-type of battles might be the ones they hold hostage on the app, along with some of the big, marquee battles (but not all, because they know the bootlegs will hurt them anyways).

It seems super revenue-driven and not long-term growth-driven, and is creating fragmentation in the process. Hell, why couldn't they just make people premium sub on YouTube for early releases and sync that subscriber list with the app for premium content? A lot of strange decisions. I think URL is really afraid of getting slapped with the demonetization wave, and so they've been smart to set up additional revenue streams, but I don't think they've thought enough about the entirety of their viewer base. Something like good looking, recurring URL merch alone is something I'd cop instead of subscribing to a content-anemic service that doesn't let me play battles on my desktop where I watch them.

Nitty choking badddd, goddamn it :( Such a fire battle otherwise, but ya hate to see it happen. The crowd is being pretty good about it though, thankfully.

EDIT: Surf not doing too well this first round.. Geechi an easy 1-0 to start.
EDIT2: Geechi 2-1 in the first and third. Honestly, not the best from either. 2nd and 3rd are edges, but Geechi clear in the first IMO.
EDIT3: Lux starting kinda light IMO..

I just got home, I caught recaps of Jakk/JJ and Pat/Suge...what's happening yall!
Lux/Verb starting 2nd round now.

Geechi/Shine was debatable, but IMO Geechi edged. Caught only bits of the rest.

I got Verb up 1-0 right now.

EDIT: I got Verb clearly in the 2nd.. like clear clear. Lux wasn't saying as much as Verb was, no matter how eloquently he rapped it or how many metaphors he used to do so.
EDIT2: Man, Lux bombing hard in the 3rd. Someone in the comments said "if anyone else spit this, they'd boo them" and that's 100% FACTS. What the fuck is Lux talking about?

I can't tell who is winning what right now...I came in at an awkward time. Gonna have to watch this from the start. Sounds like maybe Verb is winning, or people are real quiet trying to listen to Lux. They need to stop putting main events on last. I'm gonna wait on the bootlegs to drop.

Watched the whole thing and I think I got Verb 3-0, no body. Maybe Lux gets better on cam but as the battle went on he had more reaches, old bars, and just wasn't saying much. Like there was definitely a lot of plainly delivered, super weak stuff from Lux that wasn't deep or anything, which was super puzzling. Verb's 2nd was the highlight of the whole battle.

I don't think it met the hype because IMO this is the weakest Lux performance since his Mook rematch, and it was an above average Verb.
