How long is the SP then? If it is 4ish hours, that's fine, but is the SP not good?

I thought it was fine, better than past Battlefield campaigns. Great music and graphics, and great premises for the stories, but the writing was really basic (more like an outline for a story than an actual story), and the gameplay was more like a simple stealth game than an actual Battlefield game. Also, it is only like 4 hours long.

Had fun for a couple hours playing the Battlefield 1 trial on PC. So I got BF1 Revolution for $15. So what's the best mode on quickmatch to find games? Seems like some are empty, and DLC maps have been empty as well. Where is everyone? I'm on PC.

Quickmatch has been broken for months and there's no indication it will be fixed, so don't use it.

Use the server browser to find games.

Does anyone still play this on PS4 or PC? Is there a Discord? It doesn't look like the one in the OP copied right when I quote it.

BFV plays nothing like BF1.

However, BF1 can be considered more boring than BF4 because BF1 was way more staged than BF4. There was less emergent gameplay, since DICE took away a lot of the sandbox elements from past BF games so that it would seem more cinematic and exciting for a first time player.

For example, BF1 employs many "fake" elements that would be player controller in a past BF like BF4. In a map like Ambien or Argonne Forest, you would see planes flying overhead in the skybox; but they are just there for decoration, in BF4 those planes would be actual players. In maps like Sinai Desert you'll run across tanks on fire on the field, but they are scripted to be there, it didn't come from a player whose tank was destroyed. There are tons of weapons and objects on the map that on past BF games you could control and use, but in BF1 they are used only as window dressing.

All this stuff makes for an amazing first impression (which is why reviews adored it), but because it's all fake, it becomes boring fast and the only thing left to enjoy is the core gameplay, which is just a standard shooter you could find elsewhere.

I found BF1 to be extremely fun with a lot of replay value with the DLC. My only major compaints would be the lack of vehicle focused maps, no dedicated engineer class, and the random bullet deviation. Otherwise, I had just as much fun with it as any other Battlefield, if not more.

In terms of what WillyFive, I never had issue with the "fake" elements of BF1, to me that was just map decoration. Argonne Forest is supposed to be infantry only, the planes are there for atmosphere and would not mix will with the map design anyway. Some destroyed tanks in vehicle maps are there for both decoration and cover for infantry combat, so those at least serve a purpose.

There should be an update coming out this month (the last one for BF1 apparently) that will add "shock operations" and a few other things. The coolest stuff is going to be the Burton LMR for the support class, the General Liu getting an alt fire mode, and the pilot/tanker weapons becoming available for assault and support (you can read about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield_live/comments/8ppd58/cte_update_june_patch_preview_pc/)

Once this update drops I'm definitely going to be playing this again, anyone else?

Also, I joined the discord server if that's cool iRAWRasaurus

Never really got the point of the RBD complaints, other than the fact that suppression could elevate it to frankly ridiculous levels almost instantly but that's going away anyway.

Personally I found the gunplay the most enjoyable in a long time compared to older titles and other shooters in general, but to each their own I guess.

I got used to it over time, but it was jarring at first. Then again, you do need something to balance a 25 round magazine fed semi auto with a 10 round clip fed one I guess.

They didn't do Albion? Oh that's bullshit, that map would've been so much better than Lupkow.

Speaking of Lupkow, I've played a few shock operations and it is really dumb that they give attackers on Lupkow an airship after a failed attack. The defending team can't help but get steamrolled once the airship is out.

Not sure how I feel about shock operations overall yet because the first set of games I played were part of a really bad losing streak. Maybe they're more fun with with a really good team.

Just bought this in the sale. What am in for?

Also the controls felt really off so I went to the settings and found the dead zone is set to 20%. Who the heck thought that was a good idea?
I put it down to 5% and felt much better.
What else I need to tweak?

Check the server browser settings to make sure you arent getting empty servers. Matchmaking doesnt work.

Seems to be working now. I'm on PS4

The Friday night match with DICE only had 4 players though

Anyway, this game is fun as hell! Looks and sounds great too obviously. The gameplay loop is simple but the ever changing circumstances makes things addictive almost

So can anybody give advice on how I can best go about progressing? I played Medic a lot and seems I've reached some maximum and now I should play the other classes to reach their max too? After I max all the classes, what will that get me?

Another question: Can I use weapons from one class on another class?

You level up classes by playing the objective with them (such as healing people as a Medic, giving ammunition as a Support, spotting people as a Scout, etc). Not sure what you mean by a class maximum, though. Maybe you mean that you bought all their weapons? That still leaves all their specialist attributes and medals to unlock, which would take a huge amount of time. If you can somehow max all the classes, you'd have been playing for hundreds of hours.

And no, each class is defined by their weapons and abilities, you cannot use one from another in a different class.

Maybe it's for their perks?

There were certain goals for medic like heal 50 squadmates in a match or things like that. I did all those so now I'm using Support and need to start using the cross bow to get 20 kills or something.

Giving the trial a go on Origin, whats up with the filters ? They either do nothing or fuck up the server list entirely.

I have to say I've enjoyed the Back to Basics playlist this week. At first I was hesitant just to play with rifles and pistols but it's actually been quite interesting. I just wish it was all the maps instead of just the original base ones.

I personally didn't think so. If anything what felt more boring to people was that the game was far more linear in it's battles. There wasn't as much vehicle gameplay overall so that variety and randomness felt lacking, also the maps were more scripted in their setup. Battles also just were more straight forward fights where sides push back and forth. There was more variety of weapons and gear also in the other battlefields. I still found the battles exciting in this, and often far more chaos than there was in past Battlefields, but again the game felt more constrained in options and how the battles played out. There was also always lot of random factors to play in past battlefields.

In a way it feels they tried to create more "realistic" battle scenarios with attacking and defending actions, but it also makes the game feel less dynamic and creative which ppl loved about Battlefield

Looking forward to the next update. How many is DICE going to put out till they completely shift to BFV? Won't stop that stupid game till i get my Le Poilu skin for my Lebel Infantry. Only skin i care for in this game. Almost at 62 Service Stars with the Lebel (loadout: Mars, Flare, tripwire) and manage to regularly top the board. These glowing scopes never see me coming.

I started playing BF1 again after a long hiatus in anticipation of BFV. If anyone wants to squad up on ps4, I'm UnderDouble and usually play after 8 EST.

Picked this up during the sale agree playing a bit on EA Access and I'm really surprised by how much I'm liking the campaign. It isn't amazing but it's entertaining with a good amount of variety. The first level/intro, though, that shit is tight. I would love a campaign or level that filef embraced that idea.

I also didn't think hitting rank 1/2 in all classes would take this long smh.

So, what's the deal with the BFV beta? You only get access if you pre-order the game, right? Pre-ordered it from cdkeys but since they sell beta codes separately, I assume that I won't get one. I thought about canceling the pre-order anyway since I'll probably get Origin Access Premier.

My point being: will I get beta access through Origin Access Premier?

Since the update getting some crazy FPS spikes on PC. Anybody else getting the same? Was originally playing on a nix mix of high and medium for 55-60fps but even running everything on low I'm getting sometimes as low as 15 and highs at 40.

No one else?

I kinda want to assume the BFV beta is going to be similar to BF1 beta. So sign up to get the beta a day early. Then its open to everyone iirc.

Last time I played on PC, I did notice some odd fps spikes. But I can check again when I have time to play.

I'm still googling I can see plenty of Xbox One users saying there's problems and it seems to be if there's background tasks like party chat etc.

I've always run BF1 through Steam and also use Shadowplay so I'm wondering if one of those tasks is causing problems. Looking at the resource management though CPU is only at about 50% so I'm not sure if it's maybe something to do with multicore settings it was a day and night difference though with the last update so naturally I'd love to blame it but no one else seems to be really affected :/

Thanks!
