Not sure what that has to do with it. Its usually how the client is handled. PS and MS store handle it abit different. Probably linked on the ms store as a premium product and not a F2P product
Yes, it's completely meaningless. After all, EA Play isn't on Gamepass.
This happens because Sony's store lists betas and pre-release demos as "free games" which get an exemption from the Plus requirement. This does not seem to happen on Xbox or Switch.

Yeah that's weird, enough backlash should fix it I hope for those who don't have gold, although I don't know why you would own a Xbox and not have it.
I genuinely wonder how many people own an Xbox, don't have gold, and are interested in trying out a beta for a game that would require both gold and a purchase of the game itself to play after release.

Sounds like a leftover snag from Xbox's recent change of policy? Keep making noise land I'm sure they'll change this for future betas
Germany is usually the outlier and requires PS Plus for beta/demo downloads of 18 rated games due to age restrictions.
Honestly tho....how many people really don't have Xbox Live? I feel like 99% of XB players have it compared to PS+ so....this is kind of not an issue?

So, people looking for BF2042, a multiplayer game only that will need a mandatory Gold (or Plus) subscription to be used when it launches, are not already subscribed to Gold ? Who is really believing that ?

To extrapolate that further, how many people who are interested enough in playing an online only multiplayer game like Battlefield 2042 to download and play the beta don't have Xbox Live Gold/PS+?

Requiring XBL Gold is still a thing? I'm sure I read that they lifted this restriction some time back, so why is it still a thing in some cases like pre-release betas etc? They need to do better and go all the way in releasing this restriction.
