There is a Battlefield™ V Closed Alpha just around the corner. In this post, you'll learn the purpose of the Closed Alpha, what it will contain, when it will start, and who will be able to join. There are many questions to cover, so let's jump right in.

rendition1.img.jpg

Why Are You Doing a Closed Alpha?

Following EA PLAY, the Closed Alpha will give selected players a hands-on experience of Battlefield V and, together with several other tests, it will be a way for us to stress-test servers and improve several aspects of the game, thanks to the participation and feedback from those taking part. As Closed Alpha participants get their hands on this early build, we will work to ensuring stability, balance, and more for Battlefield V as we work our way towards the October launch.

What Will Be Tested in the Closed Alpha?

Quite a lot! Our tests can be divided into two main categories: gameplay and technical. Under the gameplay umbrella, you'll find areas like the balancing of maps, weapons, and vehicles to make sure that Battlefield V matches are fair, entertaining, and rewarding to skilled players. Finally, we're also curious to see how Closed Alpha participants will react to the new attrition and immersion systems. Put clearly, how can we reach a sweet spot when it comes to limited ammo and health? How do we make the revive system and more physical move set as good as possible?

Learn how immersion and squad play will change gameplay in Battlefield V.

Through our technical tests, we'll learn about what's going on under the hood of Battlefield V played in a live environment. We'll gather data about game server and backend connectivity while testing matchmaking functionality.

Who Can Join the Closed Alpha?

The Battlefield V Closed Alpha is invite-only. It is designed for PC players, will be in English only, and will be available in these regions:

  • Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Georgia, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Isle of Man, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Moldova, Montenegro, Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Slovenia, Svalbard & Jan Myen, Slovakia, Spain, San Marino, Turkey.
  • North America: Canada, Mexico, United States.
How will Invitations Work?

Invitations with codes for the Closed Alpha will soon be sent to a small group of Battlefield players. These codes can be redeemed in the Origin client.

When will the Battlefield V Closed Alpha be Live?

The Closed Alpha will begin on June 28 and will be available for a limited time only.

What are the System Requirements?

Minimum requirements:

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-8350
  • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1050 / GTX 660 2GB
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 2GB
  • DirectX version: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Internet: 512 KBPS or faster, stable Internet connection
  • Free hard-drive space: 50GB
Recommended specifications:

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD Ryzen 3 1300X
  • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16GB RAM 12GB RAM
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1060 3GB
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ RX 480 4GB

  • Internet: 512 KBPS or faster, stable Internet connection
  • Free hard drive space: 50GB
Note that these specifications are purely for the Closed Alpha and not necessarily for the final game.

What Modes and Maps will the Closed Alpha Contain?

If you get invited, you can tackle Conquest mode or the Grand Operation Fall of Norway. Taking place on the map Arctic Fjord, Fall of Norway lets you experience two of its in-game "days" and play two of the modes that the Grand Operation strings together: Airborne and Breakthrough.

Playing Airborne, you'll either paradrop down to the battlefield to deal with enemy artillery, or fight to counter this attack if you're on the other team. In the frantic fights of Breakthrough, you must capture sectors as an attacker or keep the opposition at bay through on-the-fly planning.

As for Conquest – this is the timeless Battlefield classic where two teams use infantry and vehicular combat to seize a majority control of key control points.

Are There In-Game Challenges and Rewards?

Yes, during the Closed Alpha you can take on one Special Assignment and several Daily Orders. The former consists of a series of in-game tasks, challenging your various skills on the battlefield. Complete the Special Assignment, and you'll earn a Battlefield V Dog Tag which will be added to your profile if you buy the full game once it's released. Note that for the Special Assignment to be tracked, you need to activate it via the "ASSIGNMENTS" tab in the main menu.

As the name suggests, Daily Orders are small challenges that are swapped out daily. They can for example challenge you to damage enemy vehicles or kill enemies of a certain class. In the Closed Alpha, there won't be any rewards for completing these, but that is the plan for the full game.

Is the Closed Alpha the Same as the EA PLAY Build of Battlefield V?

No. It is similar, but we've added Conquest mode, the aforementioned Special Assignment, and the possibility to call in Reinforcements manually. Also, the (very) snowy weather on Arctic Fjord present at EA PLAY has been toned down for the Closed Alpha.

Can I Capture Video and/or Stream Gameplay from the Closed Alpha?

Yes. Players are free to share footage of their Closed Alpha sessions, and there are no non-disclosure agreements in place. We look forward to your videos and constructive feedback.

Where Can I Provide Feedback on the Closed Alpha?

You can provide feedback on https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/categories/battlefield-v-closed-alpha. Note that while anyone can visit the forums, only those invited to the Closed Alpha will be able to log in and give feedback. Thank you in advance for your comments and suggestions – we truly appreciate it.

So with small group of battlefield players they probably mean youtubers
Of course this are in lol
Majority of the marketing so far for this game is terrible IMO.

And its a terrible decision to just have a PC Alpha...
Should includes Consoles too and i mean lets be honest the console userbase will make the majority of the overall playerbase of this game. And i really wanna see the game running on a console. So far everything is PC (yawn)

Isn't that more of an issue with console manufacturers rather than the developers? Considering the requirements to release software on console, even patches for a finished game, developers rarely wanna bother with it unless absolutely necessary or at the end of the development cycle when they have a finished/stable build of the game anyway.

Certification doesnt take that long anymore. And IRC there was a comment or article that said that a same day certification is possible.
Battlefield 1 had a Console Alpha just fine.

In what world are those AMD CPU's equal to their Intel counterparts? I don't understand why publishers keep doing this.

Frostbite loves as many cores / threads as it can get its hands on

Love that they aren't hiding it and we will be able to watch plenty of unedited streams and videos. Jackfrags has done a better job singlehandedly selling me on this game than anything EA has done so far.

Wish having an account with every Battlefield game on it would get you consideration for this kind of thing, lol. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on streamers for keys.

If only there was some program where they kept track of how many games you have on your account. Like a veteran thing.

Could even call it Battlefield Veteran! Great name!

RIP veteran program

Yeah got nothing... last time i got into a Alpha for a Battlefield game was with Battlefield 3.
Why is it still this boring and tiresome random process (besides for youtubers) to get into an Battlefield Alpha...
Go with the times EA/DICE and let people sign up for it..

Bought a Ryzen 5 1600 last year. I'm glad I'm still in the range of recommended specs!

Of course that might change and this could go to minimum, right?

Why you think he today announced that on Thursday and Friday he would be going ham with live streaming?

Also he just happened to have that video in back pocket?

It was given that Jack, Sacriel, Bikeman, Lvlcap etc. were told way before hand about this and given fast track for access.
