Batwoman S1 |OT| The Rise of the House of Kane - 8/7c on The CW

A few notes:
- This show is annoyingly low-energy. At times the performances, cinematography, and the general direction feels like it's produced so you can watch it in bed as you fall asleep. I wanna like this show but after eight episodes the show hasn't had single moment to make me perk up or grab my undivided attention.
- What's up with Kate using White Canary's weapons. She has Batman's entire armory at hand and that's the direction your taking her in? Doesn't feel like the most creative weapon to give her if you want to set her apart.
- The action scenes aren't too bad, though. I like that we get brief moments of Kate shrugging off bullets with her suit. That's a nice touch that highlights how she's able to survive against a SWAT team. Honestly, Arrow could learn from this. I don't know how many times i've seen an armed attacker charge forward at members of Team Arrow like their trying to stab them with their guns.
- They should've just let Jacob Kane be a Scottish immigrant. Watching Dougray Scott strain himself to maintain an American accent is rough.
- Mary having a variation of Oliver Queen's origin is kinda funny to consider. No joke, she should claim the mantle of Green Arrow.

I also liked how she went out and got that goon's jacket to find Alice in the first 5 minutes of the episode.
Her step mom's death is on her though.
Really liked this past episode. Alice is such a great villain. Love watching her screw with everyone around her.
Best part of the ep was Luke never buttoning his shirt. Like, ever.
Luke would look so much better with a new haircut and fashion, instead of being Curtis 2.0. Seems like the actor would be better suited playing a more traditional hero than a tech support nerd anyway.
I would be very surprised if they don't bring Bruce in the same way they brought in Superman.
That was initially a result of Supergirl changing networks. Plus Bruce maybe, but sadly not Batman.

Interesting to see what they'll change in Batwoman so soon, it's interesting that a show gets to do a few episodes and then has the chance to push the reset button on anything that didn't work.
Damn, this sequence might have a bigger budget than most of the first half of the season. Nice upgrade.
