I mean, he's not really saying that they're problems in themselves, it sounds more like he's saying that Warren/Buttigieg/Sanders being a woman/gay person/78 years old might be a turn off for some voters.
What is with this endless fake controversy? Dude's been fighting for women's and gay rights since before many of us were alive. And he's right that homosexuals and women face an uphill battle in running for president.
We on this board consistently complain about the misogny, homophobia, racism, etc that many American voters display on a daily basis. But when Sanders talks about it in the context of these Americans actually casting their vote suddenly it's problematic? Give me a break.
So because he's a straight white man, he will have less "problems" Trump can use against him and thus he's the better candidate to back? 🤔

The question he was asked which made him use the word "problems" is "Do you think gender is still an obstacle for female politicians"

Getting really annoyed at how desperate some folks are to frame things in the most controversial, problematic way possible, when the actual context easily reveals what's actually going on to anyone with basic reading comprehension. Thread title and the poorly-developed OP - just posting a couple of tweets with zero reflection or commentary - should be ban worthy, honestly.
At least the people who can read will see that the actual content of his argument is too well considered to line up with this framing.

Yeah, this is a clickbait thread title. Bernie is obviously talking about these things as voter issues, not in regards to them being problems outright.
between this, Politifact claiming that Biden was being sarcastic every time he mentioned social security cuts and Bernie is lying by saying Biden was serious, and MSNBC inviting an antivax Benghazi truther to "analyze" Bernie's body language and prove he's one of Those Shifty Types, this has been a great past two days for the media

So if Bernie were only a couple of years younger he'd be perfect?
His answer to the Q is spot on, anything about you that's not ideal will be weaponized against you, and in this case that means misogyny and homophobia will go through the roof, which affects potential voters. Anyone going through the mental gymnastics to claim Sanders believes the problem lies on the person and not on the voters is a fucking idiot.
