Which is why their policies are intersectional, because identities don't exist in a vacuum.

I agree. Solidarity based values is one solution to divide and conquer which the white institution does well. My point is that they have both decried identity politic in that vein. So its important to clarify the context of what is meant by identity politic in progressive circles

People can support whoever they want, where are you getting this idea that I'm policing who people should support? Why would I give a crap about how you're not voting based on my view of a candidate?

You argument seemed to be that Bernie is bad candidate because some possibly racist people support him in West Virginia.

As a black man in America diversity is nice but I care more about equality of outcomes. I feel like alot of Dems push for diversity because it doesn't actually cost them anything.

I guess the problem here is: will she be popular enough to draw in voters during the generals? That's ultimately the question since the election will be again set by turnout and not by convincing the "middle ground voters"...I feel she (Warren) has even less enthusiasm behind her than even Hillary :/ (I wouldn't say Bernie has more either, his time was definitely 2016).

I'm not sure the "less enthusiasm" thing is actually holding up based on two things: polling so far indicating she isn't nearly as hated outside the base and arguably even more liked within it, and that anecdotally, my FB friend list (Northeast and Central Ohio, so almost entirely diverse & in safe D areas) was pretty much 100% unenthusiastic about Clinton but are now pretty evenly split in a sort of "full throttle" mode between Sanders and Warren

I don't post in PoliEra,
that's completely irrelevant to the point being made, which is that literally nobody but Aaron posted anything about "primarying [Omar] [in favor of a white woman]" and that you're leaving out literally the entire rest of his post in favor of more pointless shit-throwing

several members of the socialism OT including sphagnum are able to post in that thread without ever getting tarred and feathered, so perhaps y'all should examine why there seem to be exceptions

That's great that you suspport those things, so do I. And as someone who supports those policies, Sanders is such a threat to you because...?

Dude I literally quoted you with a very concise explanation regarding that question, and have been talking about it for the last five pages.

I'm criticizing the words that have come out of his mouth, the words he has written down. This conversation is about why Sanders became popular and it morphed into why I don't support him, and the primary reason why I don't support hims is the existential issue of Economic Populism vs. Identity Politics, and the major implications of such the issue that was represented in 2016.

I posted his entire post. I am just fucking bitter because you just can't have a positive Bernie thread. You must have people responding to anyone and if someone has a "focus on the Bernie speech", you will zero in so that person is the target all so you can muck up this thread. Go away. If you hate me this much I'm self-banning myself on Monday to prepare for liver surgery so you won't see me for at least a week anyway.

San Juan, Puerto Rico Mayor Carmen Yulín spoke at Bernie's rally. Didn't expect that.

I mean, the thread seems to be positive enough outside of TLBB's posts getting misconstrued and your weird fixation on Sanders threads not having special S4P rules rising to the point of generalizing other threads, but okay, will do!

AOC probably never spoke in front of that many people before, which is why I think harping on the fact that she sounded nervous is ridiculous.

^ She sounded fine to me, but I'd die if I had to get up in front of 100 people let alone tens of thousands. I didn't think she sounded very nervous though.

I knew the name but honestly didn't know who she was. Awesome to learn and know she's the Mayor of Puerto Rico and endorses Sanders. She even said in her speech that in 2016 she was not a Sanders supporter, but that changed after she met him/learned of his compassion and such. Great to hear.

The weird proxy warring between lefty-era and poliera makes these threads consistently annoying to read, can't yall just whine in discord like normal, healthy people

lol you didn't even fucking @ me bro, I would have had no idea you were talking about me except for Midnight Jon tagging me in reference to whatever silly grievance you have against me.

You like so many of the movement "progressives" on here are a coward who runs away to OT to shit-talk the big bad bullies at PoliEra who don't pledge blind allegiance to Bernie Sanders and his supporters and expect you to back up your statements.

Good to know I'll always have a place to stay, since I appear to be living in your head rent-free.

Uh, no.

Respectfully, fuck no. :)

Hillary was a profoundly unpopular candidate even within her own party and progressives loathed her.

Warren is not only much more popular, she's also more personable and doesn't have any of Hillary's considerable baggage and she's very well liked among the progressive base.

Misconstrued or not, they keep bringing up things that have nothing to do with the rally. It's trolling at this point. Imagine if we had a Warren rally thread and Bernie supporters preemptively trashed her without even listening to the rally. We would get shat on and the mods would probably jump in. I doubt this person even watched the Bernie rally.

AOC has never been a perfect public speaker. Her slip ups and nervousness coming out are why people like her. She feels real and human.

Dude, people asked questions in the first two pages before the thing even started, and I answered some of them. Conversation threads happen that aren't directly on topic, and when six people start quoting me I'm gonna reply to them. I'm not fishing for shit, unlike some people I'm perfectly comfortable talking about major disagreements and writing about my view points and supporting those views.

It's pretty fucking bullshit when I take some effort to write out my thoughts to peoples posts that quote me (or make erroneous assumptions and accusations) and get called a "troll".

The bickering and proxy trolling in these threads is getting to comical levels. I don't even bother clicking on these topics anymore.

ngl anytime i see someone who's says they don't like the left because they're class reductionists i see someone who simply opposes left economics and wants to disguise it by calling the left racist

like sure there are some people who are class reductionists but i don't see any of them anywhere near the levers of power so i don't think we need to worry about them much

Actually wouldn't be so sure about the bolded (because of what's already turning into a polidiscord meme), and I'll let TLBB speak for themselves on the rest of that.

I recognize that you're anxious about your surgery, I understand how terrifying that can be, and I'm sure it's going to go swimmingly. But you can't take that anxiousness out on other people and try to use it as a shield when they push back. It's not fair to them, and it's not fair to your actual feelings.

She was for sure great. She's phenomenal. But I think she was preceded by two very good speakers, and then Bernie so... her mistakes maybe stuck out.

The one thing that is clear is that whoever wins the nomination (assuming it's not Bernie) is going to need Bernie's endorsement and support going forward.

The political cache that man carries is staggering.

I just hope we don't have to rally that support around an asshole like Biden.

For what it's worth, I don't consider you a troll in the least.

I may disagree of your assessment of Bernie but you are clearly an ally.
