Presonally, i vastly prefer RDR2's realistic look but damn HZD still looks fantastic! Which one is the best looking one overall in your opinion, specially in terms of technical?

I think RDR2 is technically more impressive but I love the art of Horizon more. I also think it does have higher quality random npcs though less of them overall.

RDR 2 for sure. HZD may look amazing sometimes but it always kind of feels liveless. RDR 2 looks and feels like a real place

Yeah this isn't even a fair fight. RDR looks better that a majority of smaller games and it's open world. Yes budget has a part in it but I'm still trying to figure out HOW they did it. Love HZD to death though.

RDR2 might be the more technically impressive game but Horizon's lush variety and art design wins it for me.

I love HZD but it`s RDR2 on Xbox One X.
And it´s not even close.

Budgets were vastly different to be fair.

RDR2 technically wins for me, but Horizon is still an absolute stunner. This isn't an either/or situation. They both win.

RDR2 overall, but there are areas where each is better than the other.

The best looking parts of HZD are early in the game though, the first areas you visit.

Only rented RDR2 on the X though, bought and completed HZD. Waiting for the PC version to jump back in to RDR2 - and with that version there will be no contest.

I like how you didn't include AC Odyssey so other games could at least have a chance to win in this poll

Both look great, but RDR2 is a phenomenal achievement visually.

Although, honestly, Days Gone blows both out of the water at times; the quality of the textures and the lighting and the assets, when it all comes together its glorious. Especially with 300 zombies running across it too.

I'm a sucker for Post Apocalyptic worlds so Horizon wins for me. I haven't played RDR2 though and probably never will but from screen shots it does look nice.

HZD takes the visual win, imo - mostly due to personal preference in visual design. RDR2 is, of course, very impressive with its realistic landscapes and vast draw distance.

Unquestionably RDR2. Ambarino is the most beautiful location in any game I've ever played.

Honestly couldn't choose as they both do slightly different things in an open world environment extraordinarily well but if I were pushed I think that RDR2 will age slightly better as it's doing stuff that you'd expect to see next-gen.

However, I can't wait to try both of them again on the PS5/Scarlett.

Horizon's art direction is much better than RDR2's and the complexity of the robots is unrivaled.

RDR2 is technically impressive but feels dead.

As someone who has not played RDR2, i think it is the best open world game in terms of graphics. However, I prefer the stylized graphics of Horizon.

Technically RDR is better, but artistically HZD is better.

HZD gets my vote for realizing a more surreal world.

I'd probably chose RDR2 of these options but vastly prefer Days Gone than both of them. The dynamic snow and rain effects are something else.

Both gorgeous games. Top of their game.

But RDR2 is the single most impressive looking game I've ever seen. It's magic.

I absolutely love HZD, but objectively from a graphics standpoint, RDR2 is better in that department. However personal taste in the aesthetic will play a role.

Horizon plays a hell of a lot better, but nothing even approaches RDR2 right now.

I'd also argue for GoW over Horizon, personally.

its always hard for me to choose, but i feel like RDR2 lacks in the "woah" moment for me, as in, you wont see these huge creatures like in horizon, and rather its all super grounded in the real world, so i never end up in real awe of whats happening, even though i will say "damn thats pretty".

HZD gets my vote as well as the art style is far more interesting to me. The HDR in it is right there at the top of best uses as well for any game.

I've played neither (yet), but from several gameplay videos I've seen when they came out, it looked like RDR2's world is more interactive and reactive of your actions while Horizon, despite looking gorgeous, seemed to be a little lacking in that regard.

But my views aren't worth much since I haven't had first-hand experience.

HZD looks better at close distances, RDR2 looks better at longer distances. Overall i give it to RDR2, whenever you look no matter what kind of weather the game just looks like a painting. The amount of wildlife and the way they move, just makes it feel like a living world.

Horizon is amazing, but RDR2 is on another level. Complain all you want about the game, RDR2 is one of the best looking games and the variety and depth of the open world is unparalleled. It will be a while before another games matches it.

This, basically. RDR2 has a lot more stuff going on like grass, bushes and branches that all react to Arthur walking by them and snow that falls off trees. But I like HZD more aesthetically. It's more atmospheric.

Horizon is more striking because of its artificiality. Has an initial wow factor because everything is tuned to look perfect.

RDR2 is more impressive because of its consistency, weight, and detail. It doesn't peak quickly like Horizon, instead constantly revealing another layer of visual detail with every passing hour.

RDR2 wins out for me. Horizon is no slouch, obviously, but RDR2 is an immense achievement.
