Bethesda Doesn't Think Fallout 76 Repair Kits are Pay-to-Win

The latest Fallout 76 update has brought repair kits to the game amid accusations from some fans of the items introducing pay-to-win mechanics. However, Bethesda has now addressed these concerns directly.

To be fair, they really aren't. They do affect gameplay though and I wish they didn't go this route with the Atom Shop, their priority should be to fix the damn problems and fix the awful weapon/armor balance. Weapons like the Flamer or Crossbow make no sense in the game.

They aren't pay to win, because there is no winning in Fallout 76, only endless repetition.

For real though, Fallout 76 has massive balance issues and this sure doesn't help.

It's always a bad move promising cosmetic only mtx without having a said cosmetic only backup plan when things go bad.

Live games are never certain and publishers will shift strategies if something isn't making money. Queue Anthem's purchasable consumables and/or paid expansions in 3...2...1...

Bethesda's statement directly:

"When we originally announced the Atomic Shop last year," they state; "we said that it will not provide anything that offers a competitive advantage. We remain committed to that statement and take it into account when we evaluate every new item that we bring to the Shop, both now and in the future. While Repair Kits do offer a way to fix an item in the field, we feel you will find that they are a convenient option you can utilize during your adventures. If we find that Repair Kits do offer any sort of competitive advantage once they are available, we will make any changes necessary to ensure that advantage is removed."

It's kind of lame, but it's in no way pay 2 win. Repair is not a major thing, these aren't things that people are going to really want to spend a ton of money on and it really has no bearing on the game's single player or pvp elements. Its just letting people speed up the process of repairing their gear.

It's a crummy move for them as it looks bad, but folks this is not a pay 2 win item.... you can't even win in FO76
