Big Change In The Devil May Cry Timeline As Devil May Cry 2 Now Takes Place BEFORE Devil May Cry 4

There's an on-going stream right now from Capcom TV and they just went over the DMC series timeline and it shows that DMC2 now takes place BEFORE DMC4. If you scroll back in the stream you'll see the timeline segment.




This is obviously a pretty big change as for years it's been the other way round with DMC2 always being the end point of the series that Capcom wouldn't touch (until DMC5 changed that) but now apparently we already moved past DMC2 ten years ago, we just didn't know it. So, what are people's thoughts on this pretty big retcon?

They did say already, that it's not the same bike anyway. (It looks super different to begin with.) He gets it from his first defeated demon. But it looks like that demon throws another bike at him, Dante cuts through, and that looked a little like the DMC2 bike, like a little easter egg.

Yes, I know. But I thought of something a little deeper. Like we speculated that Dante's years in hell made Nero and the others worry, and he takes over DMC in the meantime - something like that.

Next week we'll find out DMC2 was actually set before DMC1, a power move that will lay out Dante's character arc going from immature at the beginning of DMC3, to somber/serious at the end of DMC3/beginning of DMC2, to finally regaining his lost levity and whimsical nature when grouped up with Trish by the end of DMC1, setting the stage for wacky uncle Dante in DMC4.
